00:00Did you spot these fake videos on the Iran war?
00:06With the US-Israeli attack on Iran and subsequent strikes by Tehran,
00:11an unprecedented amount of fake and misleading videos and pictures is flooding social media.
00:16Here are three such videos that have gained millions of views online,
00:20but ultimately do not show what they claim.
00:23This video went viral on X, claiming to show Iran firing missiles at the center of Tel Aviv.
00:28But this clip is old and has been debunked multiple times before.
00:31It actually shows football fans celebrating the victory of an Algiers football club in Algeria.
00:36In this section of the footage, you can see a roundabout which we identified as Al-Mokrani Square in the
00:42Algerian capital.
00:43So it definitely doesn't show Tel Aviv.
00:46Elsewhere, this video was spread widely online, allegedly depicting a US strike on Iran.
00:51But taking a closer look, the plane used in the video is actually a Russian Air Force Su-57 in
00:57the military video game Arma 3.
00:59And this video was shared across social media platforms, again supposedly showing strikes on Tel Aviv.
01:06It is in fact AI-generated.
01:08But when users turned to Grok to identify the image, it wrongly claimed the video was real.
01:13Daily misleading images of the Iran war have kept spreading, with researchers identifying a continuous flow of fake visuals.
01:21X has since announced a crackdown on AI-generated images of the conflict that are not labeled as such,
01:27suspending for 90 days the creators monetizing their content.
01:31Dangerously, some claim to show strikes where no such attacks have taken place,
01:36further distorting the information space amid the conflict.
