00:00¿Iran out of the World Cup?
00:01After this attack, we can't be expected to look forward to the World Cup with hope.
00:06That's what Mehdi Taj, the president of Iran's football federation,
00:10said after Israel and the U.S., one of the co-hosts of the tournament, attacked the country.
00:16Well, at the moment, it's difficult to see how Iran can take part in the World Cup
00:22just because the situation in Iran is so fluid and the country is under attack.
00:27We simply don't know.
00:29All sporting events in Iran will have been cancelled, I think, at this point,
00:34until at least further notice.
00:36And, of course, as I said, we haven't seen a situation
00:39where a host is effectively at war with a participant.
00:43Not everyone with the Iranian Football Federation
00:46was ready to comment on the situation in Iran.
00:55Iran is set to play at least three games on U.S. soil.
00:59The U.S. has already banned Iranian nationals from entering the country.
01:03That means many Iran fans will be coming from elsewhere,
01:06including the Los Angeles area,
01:07which is home to the largest Iranian diaspora in the world.
01:11In the event that Iran do pull out, what could happen next is unclear.
01:15FIFA regulations state they can take whatever action is deemed necessary.
01:19Replacing the country that pulls out with another is a possibility.
