Shab e Qadr (Laylatul Qadr) is the most blessed night in Ramadan, a night better than a thousand months. Many Islamic scholars have discussed ways to estimate the possible night of Laylatul Qadr based on the day the first fast of Ramadan begins. According to a narration attributed to Sheikh Abu Al-Hasan Al-Iraqi (رحمة الله عليه), the night of Shab e Qadr can be estimated by calculating from the first day of fasting.
For example, if the first fast of Ramadan begins on Monday, the expected night may fall on the 21st night. If it begins on Thursday, it may fall on the 23rd night. If Ramadan starts on Saturday, the possible night may be the 25th. If the first fast begins on Sunday or Wednesday, it may be the 27th night, and if it begins on Tuesday or Friday, it may fall on the 29th night of Ramadan.
These calculations are mentioned in various Islamic books and scholarly discussions, but Muslims are encouraged to seek Laylatul Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially on the odd nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 29th). Worship, prayer, recitation of the Qur’an, and seeking forgiveness during these nights bring immense spiritual rewards.
Remember, the exact night of Laylatul Qadr is known only to Allah. Therefore, believers should increase their ibadah, dua, and remembrance of Allah throughout the last ten nights of Ramadan to gain the blessings of this sacred night.
