00:01Newcastle United showcased remarkable resilience in their recent 2-1 Premier League victory over Manchester United at Newcastle United St
00:09James' Park,
00:10a performance that underlined just how pivotal manager Eddie Howe has become to the Magpies' identity this season.
00:18The match looked destined to slip away early when Newcastle were reduced to 10 men after Jacob Ramsey was controversially
00:26sent off for a second yellow card
00:28just before half-time, leaving his side, a man down for the entire second period.
00:33Yet rather than fold under pressure, Howe's team stood fair?
00:37Yeah, a massive win for us. I think we needed it. We know we needed it.
00:42It's been a tough run for us in the Premier League.
00:47I think some of our performances haven't been too bad in recent games, but we've found a way to lose
00:53games when we maybe shouldn't have done.
00:55And today we've started the game really well and then, of course, we get a red card.
01:00And there would have been an easy feeling for the lads to adopt that, I feel sorry for ourselves, here
01:06we go again.
01:07And that's the biggest compliment I can give the lads. They've really stood up in that second half and they've
01:11all given more.
01:12They've all believed that we can win the game.
01:13And so a brilliant end to the game is one of the best emotions that I think I felt.
01:19And I'm sure a lot of people will say the same, but also we haven't done that enough.
01:24As the clock ticked toward the 90th minute, substitute William Asula produced a moment of individual brilliance,
01:31curling a stunning winning goal into the far corner to secure an emotional victory
01:35and end Manchester United's unbeaten run and to enter in battles, Michael Carrick.
01:41I thought we were excellent in the first half. I thought we were really good.
01:44That was us somewhere near our best level again.
01:46We were quicker with the ball today. We were combining well with each other.
01:50I think it was a really good feel about the team.
01:53But of course, then sort of things unravelled. We scored.
01:56Well, we had a man leave the pitch. We scored. We concede.
02:01And then we got a big second half mentally to get ourselves back in the right frame of mind for.
02:05And we've got players that have run through brick walls for this football club.
02:10And they did so again tonight. And I can't praise them enough.
02:13For how the win was more than three points, it marked a statement of character.
02:17After a difficult run of home results, his side responded to adversity with composure,
02:21tactical discipline and belief.
02:24Yeah, it's one of those spells for us.
02:27A slightly different feel today where, you know, we were indebted to Aaron
02:30to make a number of really good saves for us.
02:32I think they're pivotal moments in the game.
02:34But I just thought our collective mentality to defend our goal was a lot stronger today.
02:38A lot of block shots, a lot of bodies on the line,
02:40a lot of sort of hallmark of us at our best when we're defending properly.
02:44This resilience not only lifted Newcastle up the Premier League table,
02:47but also gave a timely boost of confidence ahead of their upcoming challenges,
02:51showing that Howe's leadership continues to shape a team that are still capable of defying the odds.
