00:01hi so let's start imagine waking up one morning and being arrested but no one tells you what
00:11your crime is okay so there is no explanation no clear charge and no way to defend yourself
00:19this is the unsettling world of the trial by france kafka more than a story about law or
00:28justice it is a powerful exploration of fear control and helplessness of the individual
00:35in this video i am reviving the trial and why it continues to feel disturbingly relevant even today
00:45about the book so the trial was written by france kafka and published in 1925 after his death
00:55the important point is this book was published after his death so the novel follows joseph k
01:05a blank bank you know clerk who is suddenly arrested on his 30th birthday so basically 30th birthday is
01:15kind of a milestone right imagine you are waking up and it's your birthday and someone tells you that
01:24you are in trial so yeah let's come back so although it he's not sent to prison he's told that
01:32he is under
01:33the trial without being informed of the charge against him so as joseph k tries to understand the legal
01:45system controlling his life he's pulled deeper into a confusing and illogical world court hearings take
01:56place in dark cramped rooms official speak in riddles and no one offers real help despite his efforts to
02:08prove his innocence joseph k slowly loses control over his life his confidence and his sense of identity
02:18reality so let's discuss the theme and let's analysis what exactly this book conveys so one of the
02:28strongest theme i found in this trial book is the abuse of power so the law operates without transparency
02:37logic or humanity making it impossible to challenge another important uh theme is alien
02:47alienation so joseph k is surrounded by people yet he remains completely alone in his struggle
02:55no one truly understands him whenever he tries to discuss but no one exactly understands him so that is
03:04also relevant to this modern society where many of uh you know people are suffering from mental health
03:11where they feel the same kind of alienation towards others uh kafka also explores the idea of guilt uh in
03:21the
03:21novel guilt does not need to be proven but it exists simply because the system it does uh this creates
03:31a
03:31constant feeling of anxiety and self-doubt which defines joseph k's experience so my personal interpretation
03:41of this book is uh what makes the trial so disturbing is how familiar it feels okay the fear of
03:50faceless
03:51authority endless bureaucracy and systems that refuse to explain themselves is something many people can
04:01relate even today kafka does not offer comfort or solution instead he forces the reader to sit with
04:10confusion and helplessness and also it makes the reader to think about you know current bureaucracy or the
04:19government or you know all the issues that faced by the people so the trial is not a not an
04:27easy or
04:28comforting book but it is an important one it challenges our idea of justice freedom
04:34individuality in modern society if you enjoy philosophical literature that makes you question
04:42authority and human responsibility or societal responsibilities the trial is a book worth reading hope you enjoyed
04:52this book review thank you
