00:18Welcome, Ma. We are pleased to have you here.
00:34So, coming straight to the topic, fashion and yoga share a core truth. It is the best
00:40word in fitness industry. How do yoga help one's fitness journey?
00:45It helps one's fitness immensely. In fact, I always say that yoga is not only a workout,
00:50it's also a work in. So, not only is yoga amazing for your entire body, it's also so good for
00:57all your organs, for your endocrine system, for your digestive system, for your circulatory
01:04system. So, yoga has all sorts of benefits, really all sorts of benefits. So, not only
01:10is it going to give you the perfect physical body, it's also going to do wonders for all
01:14of your internal organs.
01:15Let's begin with the palm tree pose or dharasana. Inhale, bring your arms up, interlock your fingers
01:23shoulders, and then turn them towards the ceiling. Now fix your gaze at a point in front of you,
01:30so that you maintain your balance. And inhale, come up on your toes, stretching your full body
01:37up. And then exhale, slowly coming down. Make sure that your elbows are by the side of your
01:44head, and that your tailbone is tucked in. Inhale, move up, stretch your whole body up. And then exhale,
01:51inhale, come down.
01:53As you said, yoga plays a vital role in the peace of mind and self-help. But how it helps
01:58to improve physical appearance?
02:00Okay, so, a couple of things. So, first of all, it helps your skin glow. You know, like
02:05I have put no makeup. You know, this is all really the benefits of yoga, because you do
02:09develop the nice inner beauty. You know, the nice shine on the face of vitality. So, you see
02:15all people who are doing yoga have a nice glow on their face. You know, it's because your organs
02:19are functioning so well that your face and your skin starts glowing. It's really, really
02:23effective.
02:24The other thing is for hair. You know, yoga really, really helps with hair growth because
02:29of circulation. So, in yoga, we do a lot of inversions. And so, in that, it really, really
02:34helps. So, yoga can, and you know, also to get rid of all the dark circles, the wrinkles,
02:41all of that yoga really helps with.
02:43Rub your palms together, generating heat in your palms. And slowly, bring the base of your
02:48palms to your eyes. Inhaling and exhaling here. Inhale deeply. And exhale completely. Inhale.
03:03Exhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. And slowly dropping. Our lifestyle is dynamic. So, whom do you think
03:15yoga is a must? Yoga is a must for everyone. Beginning from kids going to senior citizens,
03:21yoga is really, has something for everyone. So, for kids, it really helps with mental concentration
03:27and focus. And for senior citizens, it really helps with lots of different back aches and
03:33all of that stuff. For women, very, very beneficial because it keeps their, keeps their, you know,
03:40their uterus and all of the female organs very, very strong. So, that is also a wonderful
03:46feature of yoga.
03:48You've written a book where you explain how just 10 minutes of yoga daily is good enough.
03:53There are asanas and exercises that you can do, you know, sitting on a chair. So, how does it work?
03:59Again, it's, it's, the book is called The 10 Minute Yoga Solution. And really, just 10 minutes of yoga
04:06can help you a lot. So, I would seriously suggest that everyone should get on their mat for 10 minutes
04:10and try to do yoga. It can help with diabetes, with anxiety, with insomnia, with so many different things.
04:16Can yoga cure all diseases? It can prevent all diseases. Curing, um, with enough practice maybe,
04:24but it can definitely help prevent.
04:25Now separate your legs a little bit so that they're in line with your shoulders. Now inhale,
04:31stretch up, and exhale, drop both the arms to the right. Inhale, come up, and exhale, drop both the arms
04:42to the left.
04:44These days, an increasing number of people are going to gym. What is that one reason yoga is better than
04:50gym?
04:50As I said, yoga is a work in, not just a workout. So, while the gym is good, and it
04:55works on your physical body,
04:57it helps with weight loss, all that stuff, really for all of the, um, the organs of the body, you
05:03know, yoga really helps.
05:05It really helps your nervous system, your circulatory system. So, yoga has a lot of different benefits
05:10that, say, a normal exercise does not have.
05:13How does yoga prevent hair loss?
05:16As I said, circulation. So, in yoga, we have a lot of exercises in which you are inverting your body.
05:23So, the blood flow goes to the head. And when the blood flow goes to the head, that's when, you
05:28know,
05:28all the cells get replenished because of the circulation. So, very, very important.
05:33Also, a lot of hair loss is associated with hormones, right?
05:38So, yoga helps balance the endocrine system and the hormonal system.
05:42For a beginner, what are those things you must know about yoga?
05:45For beginners, must do in yoga, what I would say definitely include pranayam in your practice.
05:52And I would say Surya Namaskar is a 360 degree workout. So, Surya Namaskar really, really helps.
05:58And I would suggest that everyone learn how to do Surya Namaskar correctly. Yeah.
06:03Is there any particular diet for one who practices yoga?
06:06Following a yogic diet is important, which means that eating vegetarian food, eating light and eating healthy.
06:12But it happens naturally. When you do yoga, naturally, you start wanting to eat in a very much healthier way.
06:18Our government is putting so many efforts to promote yoga. So, is it helpful?
06:23It is definitely helping. Definitely across. I see it spreading across India. Yoga is really, really growing.
06:29A few people think yoga is for Hindus. Is yoga real?
06:33No, absolutely not. I think yoga is for all religions. I have students who are Christian, who are Muslim.
06:38There is no religion behind yoga. You know, it may have originated from Hinduism.
06:43But yoga is, the nature of yoga is to be flexible. So, I really think that it's across all religions.
06:49Thank you so much. It was nice talking to you. Thank you. Thank you.
