00:00Your mom left a career in finance to pursue acting.
00:04Well, my mother was a writer.
00:06She left the corporate world, a single mom, and my dad was a fireman, so it was way out of
00:12his wheelhouse.
00:13We went into show business with a lot of encouragement and support from my mom.
00:17That's rare.
00:18There were a lot of people who said, you know, you need to have something to fall back on.
00:24And as a young person, like, I don't want to fall back.
00:27I'm going to go to school, and I'm going to learn everything I can about moviemaking.
00:33And so I faced it in this very serious, ambitious way.
00:37I mean, my mom, I remember her putting me on the plane to California with my cat and a teapot.
00:43But she managed to save up money so I could get my first apartment in Hollywood.
00:48She believed in me.
00:50She taught me to believe in myself.
00:57She said, you know, I was a kid.
00:57I'm going to be like, she took a ride.
