00:01Tributes have been paid to WWII veteran Jeffrey Doyle, whose family say he was the oldest man in Solihull.
00:08Born in 1920 in Liverpool, he served during the Second World War and later worked as a mechanical engineer overseas
00:15before settling locally in the West Midlands in 1963.
00:19His family described him as resilient and independent.
00:22He celebrated his birthday at Rowington Cricket Club and was supported in later life by Age UK Solihull after the
00:31death of his wife.
00:32His son and carers said he lived an extraordinary life and will be deeply missed.
00:37Tracy Grove said it was a privilege to support him.
00:40They added that he was always grateful and ready with a story.
