00:05Quadruple amputation has been the best thing ever for me.
00:09It has been the most amazing gift, if you will.
00:13And I do not yearn to have my legs and arms back.
00:20In November 2013, I was diagnosed with Strep A.
00:25His immune system was just unable to fight.
00:28And then the amputation started over and over again.
00:33When I was due to go home, I was scared stiff.
00:37But also I had a little boy, and I just wanted to prove to him that anything's possible.
00:42Just because you don't have arms and legs doesn't mean you can't do stuff.
00:46I think that's what you said.
00:48What was created is effectively a small off-road car for someone with no arms and no legs.
00:53Then we thought maybe we could go up Ethiopia's highest mountain.
00:58You know, the Strep keeps coming back, and it could all be over tomorrow.
01:02So he should just do it.
01:03Bye.
01:10And it's the fact that we've got a white man and a black woman.
01:15Hello, no.
01:16No, no, no, no!
01:17We're taking risks.
01:18But yeah, sometimes you just want to give it a thrash and see what happens.
01:21He tells everybody that I saved his life.
01:25I don't know what was here before, but that's a big gap.
01:28The alternative is aborting the idea of getting up the mountain.
01:34If we have not started to climb by 11.30, we're turning back.
01:41I think all of us in life want to feel that we've done something positive.
01:49And we're lucky people.
01:51Lucky to be alive.
