00:00Have you ever stopped to think that maybe the problem isn't how much you earn, but where you are?
00:05Perhaps the effort that barely pays the bills today could, in another part of the world,
00:11Can you buy time, peace, and a forgotten feeling called freedom?
00:17Because the truth is harsh, but liberating.
00:20The same money that tightens your belt in Brazil can, in another country, make you feel truly rich.
00:28And that's not a figure of speech.
00:30It's a lived experience, felt firsthand, noted in one's pocket, and etched in memory.
00:35While many people wake up every day thinking that the only way out is to work more, to do overtime,
00:42Even sacrificing weekends means there's another game being played in silence.
00:47A game where the Brazilian real changes weight, changes value, and completely changes meaning.
00:54And when you realize that, something breaks inside you.
00:58Because we can't pretend we didn't see it anymore.
01:01We can no longer accept the narrative that "that's just how things are."
01:05No, it isn't. It never was.
01:06I discovered this while traveling.
01:08Not out of tourist curiosity, but out of a need to understand how far the money goes when the system changes.
01:17And the first major surprise came from exactly where no one would expect.
01:24Europe.
01:24Just hearing that word makes Brazilians feel the pain in their wallets.
01:30Paris, London, Amsterdam, Madrid.
01:33Everything is expensive, everything is far away, everything seems unrealistic.
01:38But Europe is not a homogeneous bloc.
01:40There is a forgotten, silent Europe, far from the saturated postcard images.
01:46where money still speaks to reality.
01:48And that's where I stepped.
01:50When I arrived, it looked like a mistake on the map.
01:52Beautiful architecture, clean streets, good food, efficient transportation, cool beaches on the Baltic Sea.
01:57and prices that simply didn't match the continent I was on.
02:02Riga, the capital of Latvia, seemed like a ready-made joke against everything we'd been taught about the cost of living in Europe.
02:09I would sit down to eat and pay the equivalent of a simple snack in Brazil.
02:15Complete, well-served lunch boxes, for prices that hovered around thirty-something reais.
02:21And it was no exception.
02:23It was the rule.
02:24The accommodation then seemed like a provocation.
02:27Large, well-located, clean, and organized apartments for prices that in Brazil would barely cover a dubious daily rate.
02:35There were nights when the split cost was less than what many people spend on parking.
02:41And then comes the real shock.
02:43You begin to realize that living well is not a luxury.
02:46It's a geographical choice.
02:48But nothing is perfect.
02:50The atmosphere is tense.
02:51Winter shortens the days.
02:53The sun sets early.
02:54The cold tests our patience.
02:56It's not a place for intense parties or endless nights.
03:00It's a place of silence, economy, and surprise.
03:03And sometimes that's exactly what we need.
03:07But if Latvia teaches us that cheap can be good, the next destination teaches us the opposite.
03:12Because there's the cheap option that charges later.
03:15And it's expensive.
03:16Egypt is a living lesson on this.
03:19On paper, it's unbeatable.
03:21Food for 10 reais.
03:23Delivery that arrives quickly, is plentiful, and makes you feel like a king for leaving a minimal tip.
03:28Accommodation right in front of the pyramids for prices that seem too good to be true.
03:32You wake up, open the window, and find yourself facing one of humanity's greatest works.
03:38And that's priceless.
03:40Or at least it doesn't seem to.
03:42But the cost isn't on the invoice.
03:44It's exhaustion.
03:45It's in constant negotiation.
03:47It's harassment.
03:48No mental exhaustion.
03:50On constant alert.
03:51Every step requires energy.
03:54Every purchase becomes a game.
03:55For women, the experience can be overwhelming.
03:59For those who lose their temper easily, it's a test of sanity.
04:03Egypt is inexpensive, but it requires emotional preparation.
04:07It's pure adventure.
04:08For some, unforgettable.
04:11For others, it was too exhausting to repeat.
04:14And it was after this contrast that the biggest shock of all came.
04:18One of those that changes the way you see the world.
04:21Malaysia didn't seem real.
04:24The mental image was one of chaos, mess, and delay.
04:28But Kuala Lumpur presented itself as a punch in the face to geographical prejudice.
04:34Skyscrapers, efficient subway, gigantic shopping malls, absurd cleanliness, silent organization.
04:43A modern, technological, elegant, and inexpensive city—very inexpensive.
04:48There, money seemed to work magic, street food for 5, 10 reais, meals in shopping malls.
04:54For 20 reais, apartments with infinity pool, panoramic views, and amenities.
05:01High-end products, at prices that would be unimaginable in Brazil.
05:05The local currency is stronger than the Brazilian real.
05:07Even so, the purchasing power of Brazilians is growing.
05:11It's a logical inversion that dismantles any shallow argument about economics.
05:15Of course, there are limits.
05:18Alcohol is expensive.
05:19The nightlife isn't chaotic.
05:21It is a Muslim country, with clear rules, collective respect, and urban silence.
05:28It's not a place for wild partying.
05:30It's a destination for those who want to live well, spend little, and breathe tranquility.
05:35And when you understand that, you realize that wealth isn't just noise.
05:39It's comforting, but it wasn't the peak yet, because there comes a point when the brain simply...
05:47Give up on doing the math.
05:49This happens when you exchange money in Indonesia.
05:53Suddenly, you become a millionaire.
05:56Literally.
05:57Huge banknotes, gigantic numbers, stacks of money in hand.
06:02And no, this is not empty inflationary illusion.
06:05It's real purchasing power.
06:07The Brazilian minimum wage translates to millions of rupees.
06:10And there, those rupees make things happen.
06:13Indonesia is a place of warm, human people.
06:15It's an easy smile.
06:16It's cheap, tasty, and honest food.
06:19It's affordable rent, simple transportation, and a relaxed lifestyle.
06:23It's possible to live with little and feel far above the local average.
06:28It's possible to save money.
06:30It's possible to take advantage of it.
06:31It's possible to exist without rushing.
06:33The challenge is to get there.
06:35It's far away, requires planning, and involves long flights.
06:39And Bali, specifically, has become a tourist trap.
06:43Those who don't do their research pay a high price.
06:45Those who understand the game live like kings.
06:48And just when you think you've seen it all, along comes Thailand.
06:52And she doesn't compete.
06:53She reigns.
06:54Absurd security.
06:56Cuisine that redefines pleasure.
06:59Cost of living that defies all Brazilian logic.
07:03Eating well, spending 15 or 20 reais.
07:07Sleeping in beautiful places.
07:09Walking down the street without fear.
07:10Recording with the phone exposed.
07:12To feel protected without paying for it.
07:15Thailand offers things that in Brazil only money can buy.
07:19Peace.
07:20There, you understand that quality of life is not just political rhetoric.
07:24It's a daily practice.
07:26It's a given.
07:27It's statistics.
07:28It's a reality.
07:29While Brazil grapples with alarming rates of violence, there are places where this is simply...
07:35It's not part of everyday life.
07:37And that changes everything.
07:39Change the way you walk.
07:41Just by looking.
07:42To live.
07:42Ultimately, the question isn't which country is cheaper.
07:46The question is, how much does it cost to stay where you are?
07:51How much does it cost emotionally, mentally, and physically?
07:56Because perhaps the highest price isn't in the airfare, but in the accommodation.
08:01And perhaps the greatest wealth is realizing this in time.
08:05If you've made it this far, it's because something inside you already knows that the world is bigger.
08:10from what they told you.
