Transcript
00:20Hi, I'm Rina Sawayama and we are on set for the cover shoot for the August issue of Who, What,
00:26Where.
00:31My music in three words would be eclectic, maximal and emotional.
00:40My first big break as an artist, probably doing Jimmy Fallon performance for the first time was, felt like a
00:50big break to me but because it happened during lockdown I still don't really have a real grasp of how
00:57well it's gone I guess, I don't know.
01:04So I think this one's one of my favourite pieces it's by Vivian Westwood and it's hand painted so it's
01:11so beautiful I love the different colours on there and like the colour story.
01:15And I'm also really into Victorian milkmaid vibes.
01:23I think it looks really cool I actually used something like this in one of my videos that's coming up
01:27so yeah, love it, so cool.
01:31The fashion direction and the set design complement each other because the set design is super rich so the fashion
01:37is kind of bringing out different elements of that.
01:40There's moments where it's kind of a more paired back and the set can really speak for itself and then
01:44there's going to be moments where it's both very loud just so there's kind of dynamism throughout the shoot.
01:53My favourite collaboration I've done with another artist is hands down Elton John. Everything about it was epic and so
02:00unexpected.
02:01He was so open to taking suggestions and didn't have an ego, just was so part of the creative process
02:08and just kept asking Rina do you like that?
02:10I'm just going to try it like this, do you think this is a good idea? And it was so
02:14wonderful and very creative and collaborative.
02:40Thank you very much.
