00:12Central, and South American coasts for Europe. These expeditions initiated the Columbian Exchange
00:17and profoundly impacted indigenous populations. Let us dive in Voyages of Columbus. First Voyage,
00:231492-1493, landed in the Bahamas, San Salvador, on October 12, 1492, and explored the coasts of
00:32Cuba and Hispaniola. Second Voyage, 1493-1496, discovered the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico,
00:41and established a colony in Hispaniola. Third Voyage, 1498-1500, reached Trinidad and the
00:48South American mainland, Venezuela. Fourth Voyage, 1502-1504, explored the Central American coast
00:56from Honduras to Panama, searching for a passage to Asia. His voyages led to a huge wave of European
01:02exploration and colonization, an event often called the Columbian Exchange. It also imprinted
01:08devastating impact on the indigenous peoples of the Americas as it lead to immense suffering,
01:13slavery, and torture on indigenous Americans. Europeans brought diseases with them that also
