00:02as Dengue cases surge across the world hope is rising in India a new vaccine
00:09candidate Dengue all has entered the final stage of testing developed by
00:16Panacea biotech the vaccine is now in phase 3 trials across the country Dengue
00:22is a mosquito-borne disease that causes high fever severe body pain and in some
00:28cases life-threatening complications the World Health Organization says nearly
00:34half of the world's population is at risk India alone has reported over 1
00:40million cases since 2021 Dengue in India if you are talking is already endemic
00:47from many years like earlier we detected in 1996 then there was a gap and after
00:532003 I think regularly we are getting cases and it's not only endemic it is
01:00described as hyper endemic mean all the four serotypes of Dengue so Dengue has
01:05got different serotypes one two three four they are co-circulating in India
01:12health experts say climate change and rapid urbanization are helping the Aedes
01:18mosquitoes spread faster warmer temperatures and changing rainfall
01:23patterns are creating ideal breeding conditions India is considered hyper
01:29endemic for Dengue meaning all four virus serotypes are circulating at the same
01:34time this makes vaccine development especially challenging Dengue all is
01:40designed to protect against all four serotypes with a single dose more than 10
01:46thousand volunteers are part of the ongoing phase 3 trial which began in
01:512024 just a few years ago we also completed phase 1 slash 2 studies with
01:57Dengue all and then a couple of years ago in August 2024 we started the phase 3
02:02clinical study with Dengue all so it has been a long journey as it is for most
02:09vaccines and right now it is undergoing phase 3 clinical evaluation and we
02:14expect if everything goes well by the end of this year or maybe early next year we
02:20should be able to bring this vaccine to the market as compared to these Dengue
02:24all it induces a balanced and robust immune response against all four serotypes
02:30because this virus has a lot more components of Dengue virus and this what
02:37this vaccine has been tested in several clinical preclinical and clinical
02:42studies and we have seen that as compared to other vaccines the immune response is
02:47far more balanced and robust what that translates into its protection against
02:55all four serotypes of Dengue results are expected later the CEO if approved it
03:03could become one of the world's first single dose Dengue vaccines and the first
03:07to be available in India we do the analytical characterization which involves
03:12lot of testing and we have to maintain the aseptic condition it is very much
03:19required and we have to make the vaccine hundred percent safe efficacious and it
03:25has to be the risk-free because the vaccine has to be given to the small baby
03:30and the human healthy human so it is very much required like to maintain the
03:37certain sterility of the particular product scientists say the vaccine has
03:43shown a strong and balanced immune response in earlier studies it has been
03:48tested in different age groups and found to be safe so far as the name indicates
03:54Dengue all vaccine is a vaccine for all age group this vaccine has been
03:59successfully tested in clinical trials in children one year of age adolescent
04:06adults so and it has been found to be safe and immunogenic across all age
04:12groups as of now Dengue all phase 3 efficacy study which is ongoing is in
04:17adults but soon we will be starting clinical development of this vaccine in
04:23pediatric age group as well and we will make this vaccine available for all age
04:27groups regulatory approval in India would be the next step followed by possible
04:34global use after World Health Organization clearance this vaccine it is a it can be
04:41prevented is very much needed right now to control the occurrence of these cases or at
04:48least prevent the severity severity cases experts caution that final results will
04:55determine its effectiveness but if successful this vaccine could offer new
05:00protection against a disease that continues to spread
