00:03The Death of a Child Star.
00:05She appeared in all three poltergeist movies and on television as well.
00:11So we still weren't sure who Steven Spielberg was until we went for the interview.
00:15When we saw the posters of Jaws and Close Encounters, we go, this is really a big movie that I'm
00:22going out for.
00:23They're here.
00:24And she looked at me and she said, you're going to be my mommy, you'll be my mommy on the
00:30set.
00:30I think spiritually she was just so connected.
00:34I read real well and I memorized scripts really quick.
00:38I don't remember a single time where she muffed a line.
00:41When I grow up, I also want to learn to be a director.
00:43When Heather wasn't on camera, she was sitting in my director's chair.
00:48Sometimes you look at her and think, are you my mother?
00:50An old soul like Zelda used to call her.
00:52She felt very important.
00:54She just loved it.
00:55She wanted to do takes over and over again.
00:57I didn't really realize how recognizable Heather was.
01:00For her, it was still quite an issue with people wanting to come up and bother her.
01:04She just wanted to be a regular kid.
01:05How about the kids at school?
01:07They'll just treat me like I'm normal.
01:09I never had any idea that she ever felt ill.
01:13They touch her hands and they're cold.
01:15Mom, I'm not coming back.
01:19It's time for me to go.
01:20Heather passed away this morning.
01:24It was about the worst moment of my entire life.
01:27What happened to Heather?
01:28Could I have saved her?
01:29Hopefully, other parents will be aware of what can happen or maybe ask more questions.
01:34What curse?
01:35I mean, come on.
01:36That's so ridiculous.
01:38It's ugly when that happens and then the narrative turns in such a way and the person who's no
01:42longer here no longer has an ability to advocate for themselves.
01:46She was a beautiful child.
01:48She was a smart child.
01:49She was just herself.
01:51People will always remember her, loved and remembered.
01:54Maybe that's all any of us are entitled to.
01:57I'm kind of Indianapolis.
02:01I'm kind of a favorite man.
02:05There we go.
02:05I'll be like, yeah.
02:06You know,
