00:01There's a buzz in the building tonight there's an energy there's a nervousness and anxiety because the anticipation everybody is
00:08here for one reason it's the opportunity to watch Clayton Krushaw go for history. During this generation the Dodgers have
00:14won two world championships on the road. Clayton has thrown his no hitter here at home. This will be a
00:20night in the regular season that will be one of the most special nights ever in his career. His ninth
00:24start of the season trying for five straight wins trying to lead the Dodgers
00:29to seven straight series wins trying for history three strikeouts away and becoming the 20th pitcher all time to record
00:39at least 3000 strikeouts. He would be the fourth left hander ever from a 19 year old to a 37
00:45year old is three strikeouts away from 3000. We have watched him grow up. We have watched him mature. We
00:53have watched him dominate from the very very beginning and that domination has been spelled.
00:59K for Kershaw Slater has faced Kershaw a bunch seven for 27 with a double and three home runs down
01:10the line in right field and that's a fair ball. Slater continues to have a good career against Kershaw and
01:16it'll scoot away from Pahez. Slater will end up at third with one out here in this first inning.
01:23So a defensive miscue from Andy Pahez in the corner. Sox trying to strike first here in this first inning.
01:29And now it's Andrew Benintendi with two down. Benintendi slashes this one to right field and it's going to fall
01:34in front of Pahez. It's the Sox striking first as Slater will score one to nothing here in this first
01:41inning.
01:41A little bit of payback from last night. The Dodgers scored six runs. All six came with two outs.
01:461-0 Chicago already equaled their hit total from all of last night in the series opening with three hits.
01:54First and second two down.
01:55Swung on and hammered deep to left field going back on it. Conforto and at the wall he leaps and
02:00he makes the catch.
02:02Oh he took one away. It was going to be to the left of the bullpen door. And Conforto brought
02:09it back.
02:09So Brandon Iser gets the start his third of the season. The starting catcher for the National League All-Star
02:15team right here in the box at Dodger Stadium.
02:17And it is well deserved. Top average. Top on base percentage. One of the best clutch hitters. Two strike hitters
02:24this year.
02:24And it's this ball hard. Left field. Forget about it. Super five All-Star Will Smith.
02:32It is one to one as Will Smith cranks his 11th home run of the season.
02:39407 feet into the left field pavilion for Will Smith. So in his last 11 games Will has hit five
02:46out of the yard.
02:47Well the man taking over Sean Burke. His last two has been really good.
02:51This will be his 16th game opening day starter for the White Sox.
02:54He's been pitching some good baseball. The last couple have been really good.
02:57And he will face Andy Piaz to get things going here in the second inning.
03:02And Piaz belts one deep to center field. On the run is Taylor. This ball is gone.
03:07A home run. Andy Piaz ambushes him for a first pitch home run.
03:13And the Dodgers have a two-to-one lead. Home run number 17 for Piaz.
03:19And the Dodgers RBI lead in now has 58.
03:22One of the things the approach for the White Sox has been really good so far. Not a lot of
03:26wild swinging.
03:28May Kershaw bring the ball into the strike zone. He's yet to show that he has one pitch that he
03:32can be dominant with.
03:34Austin Slater had the big hit in the first inning. It was a triple down the right field line.
03:37He would come around to score the only run of the game for the Sox.
03:40Well hit. Deep to left field. And that one is long gone.
03:45Austin Slater. His fourth home run off of Kershaw in his career.
03:51And it's the Sox retaking the lead here in the third inning.
03:56Terrific approach so far from the White Sox hitters.
03:59Not over swinging. Making Kershaw bring the ball into the strike zone.
04:030-2 in a hurry on Vargas.
04:04And a swing and a miss. Strike three. Got him with a curveball.
04:09Career strikeout 2,998.
04:14Two to go for Kershaw.
04:16Sox with six hits already off Clayton Kershaw.
04:19Three singles. A double, a triple, and a home run.
04:231-0 to Edgar Caro. Slashes it down the right field. It's a fair ball.
04:28Benintendi. He will be waved in.
04:30And RBI single for the rookie Caro.
04:33As the Sox take a 5-2 lead here in this third inning.
04:36Yeah, it's gotten awfully quiet in the big ballpark here at Chavez Ravine.
04:41Clayton Kershaw. He's given up four runs.
04:43He's recorded just one strikeout.
04:44He's now two away from 3,000.
04:47This is one of the few times in your career for Alex Vestia
04:49that you're actually disappointed to get up in the bullpen.
04:52You would rather hear that phone ring and it's
04:55we don't need anybody tonight.
04:56Punch out here. Might keep him in the game.
04:58That's exactly what Dodger Stadium wants.
05:012-9. Missed. Strike three. Ball in the dirt.
05:04Will picks it up and tags him.
05:06That is career strikeout 2,999.
05:11One to go for Kershaw.
05:14The sun is setting on Dodger Stadium.
05:17And it is setting on Clayton Kershaw's outing.
05:19He is one strikeout away from 3,000.
05:22He's at 92 pitches.
05:24Line down the line.
05:26It's a fair ball into the left field corner.
05:29Dug out by Conforto.
05:30It's a one-out double for Michael A. Taylor.
05:33And Dave Roberts is not budging from the top step.
05:36A double that usually maybe would get him removed from the game.
05:39But this is a different day.
05:41A different game.
05:43Kershaw's pitch.
05:44There goes Taylor for third.
05:45Throw down by Smith.
05:46A little bit high.
05:47He got him on the helmet.
05:48He tagged him out.
05:50Muncie.
05:50Muncie's hurt.
05:51He is hurt.
05:52And Muncie's laying on his back.
05:54They're checking the leg, it appears, of Max Muncie.
05:57And Muncie's going to get up.
05:59And he can't put all of his weight on that leg.
06:03He's limping off with the help of Thomas Albert.
06:07And he's coming out of the ball game.
06:09Well, Kike Hernandez will come out and take over at third base.
06:12Clayton Kershaw, two pitches away from 100.
06:16One strikeout away from 3,000.
06:18One and two.
06:19The ravine rises.
06:21Ready to erupt.
06:22Better than 50,000 on their feet at Dodger Stadium.
06:25One-two pitch.
06:27Strike three crowd.
06:28There it is.
06:30Strikeout number 3,000 for Clayton Kershaw.
06:34History at Dodger Stadium.
06:37They will stop the game.
06:40Kershaw doffing his cap to the crowd.
06:43This adoring crowd here at Dodger Stadium.
06:47As Clayton Kershaw enters the 3,000 club.
06:53Just the 20th member and only the fourth left-hander in the history of the game.
06:59With 3,000 strikeouts.
07:01Just every one of them coming in a Dodger uniform.
07:05At the start of the sixth, the thought probably was for most one more batter.
07:10The lefty and talker.
07:11He grounded out.
07:12Doc stayed with him.
07:13After a hit, Doc stayed with him.
07:16After the injury to Max Muncy, Doc stayed with him.
07:21And he gets number 3,000.
07:24Clayton Kershaw has cemented his legacy as one of the all-time great pitchers in the history of this game.
07:33So, Kike Hernandez, who took over for Max Muncy at third, will get his first at bat of the night.
07:38First and third with one down.
07:40And he got him to chase.
07:41Good pitch from Burke for out number two.
07:44Burke trying to get out of this jam.
07:46I certainly don't have a crystal ball, but I can tell you Sean Burke has made some really good pitches
07:51tonight.
07:51He's made really good pitches when he's needed to.
07:54This is a big one right here.
07:55Got him swinging.
07:56Oh, he is fired up.
07:58Look at Sean Burke.
07:58Coming off the mound.
08:00He's made to make some tough pitches, and he did right here.
08:03Bases are full of Dodgers with nobody out.
08:06And here comes Shohei.
08:08He swings, hits a ground ball to second.
08:10Sosa flips to second, one, on the first, two, eight.
08:14Conforto scores to make it a 4-3 ball game.
08:17The tying run is 90 feet away.
08:20It'll be Stephen Wilson against Mookie Betts.
08:23And Mookie swings, hits a high drive, left center field.
08:26This ball heading back toward the track.
08:28It is going to be caught tagging and scoring to tie the game as Edmund.
08:33It's 4-4.
08:34Freeman looks out at Stephen Wilson.
08:36Ohtani at second, Smith at first, two down, bottom of the ninth.
08:39He swings, and it's a base hit to right.
08:42Ohtani around third.
08:44He comes to the plate.
08:45Dodgers win.
08:46Dodgers win.
08:48The 15th career walk-off hit for Freddie Freeman,
08:52and the Dodgers come all the way back to win it 5-4
08:55on a special night at Dodgers Stadium
08:59where a sell-off crowd witnessed Clayton Kershaw's 3,000th strikeout.
