We all know that the winners of reality TV contests win major cash prizes, but it may surprise you to learn that everyone on the show gets paid. While it’s not enough to change their lives, it is enough to float someone who is away from work filming for months at a time.
The winners of the”Big Brother” get a whopping $750,000 and the runner-up will pocket $75,000, but it was reported as of Season 27 that “Big Brother” contestants also made $1,000 per week.
Switching to another popular show with a different pay structure, we know that the Sole Survivor gets a $1 million payday and second place gets $100,000. For your average contestant, though, they get a $10,000 payday for attending the reunion show.
So what about shows that don’t have a cash prize?
For “90 Day Fiancé,” the cast gets paid $1,000 per episode like “Big Brother,” but more popular cast members can get paid from $2,000 - $7,500.
While the bachelor and bachelorette get paid, contestants of the show do not. Not only that, but they cover their own wardrobe and makeup, leaving them responsible for a lot of costs when you also consider time off of work.
