00:08And the way that all of you stood together, helping each other, no matter what religion
00:14you belong to, no matter what different sections you belong to, you all stood together, you
00:23supported each other, you gave each other courage, you gave each other love when you
00:28needed it most.
00:43I was not your MP then, my brother was, I am your MP now.
00:54But between that time and now, I have also become your daughter, your sister and a member
01:01of your family.
01:34You have faced the struggle to rebuild your family life.
01:52To wake up every morning and carry on without the people you love the most.
02:04You have faced the struggle of not having places to stay, having to move from one place to
02:11another, having to live in rented accommodation.
02:25I have met proud people like my brother Anayan, who owned farmlands, who was a well-to-do farmer.
02:36And after the tragedy, I had to make ends meet by driving an auto rickshaw.
02:52I have met courageous young people like Hani, who lost his entire family.
02:58But as I have said before, turned around and said to me that what he wants to do is provide
03:04help to people who have less than him, who are poorer.
03:18And as all of us here on stage have watched you struggle, in our own ways, we have tried our
03:24best to raise your voices on different platforms to demand justice for you and to try to do our
03:30best to support you.
03:43We raise your voice in parliament again and again.
03:52All of us MPs went and met the Home Minister demanding that the disaster should be termed a national
03:59disaster.
04:07We wrote letters to the Prime Minister, we protested outside parliament and we tried to do whatever
04:22whatever we could do to help you and to support you to rebuild your lives.
04:35And I am proud to say that our efforts also were across party lines.
04:41All different political parties did try to help and support you through this period.
04:59And as your struggle continues, we will continue to stand by you and support you.
05:16In September when I was here, I met a group of shop owners who had been affected by the tragedy
05:23and they told me to collect some funds to be able to help them to rebuild their businesses.
05:30These were especially small businesses and small shop owners.
05:34And I am happy to say that today we will be giving them a small amount each so that they
05:39can start and give.
05:56Shortly after the tragedy, my brother had come here and said that we will build a hundred houses
06:05houses for those who have lost their homes.
06:17As your sister, it pained me that this process took as long as it did.
06:34It took us time because of a lot of clearances we needed, because of land issues and permissions.
06:40But finally, I am happy to say that today we will be able to make a start on building those
06:47houses.
06:58It is our objective to provide a 1,100 square foot house along with eight cents of land to each
07:09beneficiary.
07:19We have acquired the land for this at Kunnambatta of Mepati Panchayat and executed the sale deed.
07:353 acres and 24.5 cents has been acquired.
07:392 acres and 18 cents is in the process of being purchased and will also be completed.
07:55And the negotiations are over for another five acres.
08:00So hopefully very soon we will be able to give you the completed houses.
08:04But I will also ask you a question that must be the same.
08:10That's something I would say.
08:15And how will this happen?
08:16The Times of Mepati path
08:16But you can do the same thing.
08:22You can do this, in the other words.
08:23The Times of Mepati path
08:24The Times of Mepati path
08:25The Times of Mepati path
