00:00Now when we say social media, all of us parents are concerned about social media
00:05and the amount of time children are spending on social media, the access they've got
00:11and therefore we are consulting on whether there should be an age restriction.
00:17Is it right that children shouldn't be on social media at all if they're under 16?
00:21It's a powerful argument for saying so.
00:23There are arguments against and we're doing a consultation to weigh up the evidence.
00:27We can't stay where we are, we've got to take more protections for children, but we need to get this
00:33right.
00:34But it's not just the age that's on there because there are already addictive features and characteristics on social media
00:41which keep people scrolling, keep people coming back to the screen instead of being able to put the screen to
00:46one side.
00:47So it's not so much the content, it's the fact that it's addictive for children and they can't get off
00:52their phones.
00:54A constant problem for all parents.
00:56So we need to take measures against that addictive scrolling.
00:59And then there are measures like AI chatbot and Grok, which has been in the news lately,
01:05which is a pretty disgusting feature that allowed adults to be undressed online using this feature.
01:12We had to fight and fight and fight to get that taken down.
01:15And so we need much better protection in all of these areas.
01:19Well, I think that it's a real burden there.
01:19You won't solve this experience.
