00:00It's a rare moment in U.S. politics.
00:03Bill Clinton will become one of the few sitting or former presidents to testify before Congress
00:08in an investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
00:13Experts are highlighting the significance of the upcoming legal showdown.
00:17This is really unique. It's happened a few times, like Harry Truman in 1955, I think was the last post
00:25-president to do it.
00:26Sitting presidents, you know, like Gerald Ford, Bill Clinton.
00:29So in America, it's a really big deal to get the president to testify, former otherwise, before Congress.
00:35So in that way, it's really historical to our country.
00:37Also set to make a deposition is former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
00:43There's no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of either Clinton.
00:46However, Epstein visited the White House several times while Bill Clinton was president.
00:51Clinton also repeatedly flew on Epstein's private jet after leaving office.
00:55It is expected that the depositions will bring up disagreements if the committee's questions fall outside the agreed range for
01:02the interview.
01:03So it's all going to be behind closed doors.
01:04We're not going to know kind of exactly what's happening as it's happening.
01:08But I imagine there will be a lot of consulting of attorneys throughout the process, back and forth, particularly with
01:15respect to scope.
01:17The Clintons requested their depositions be public, which the congressional committee rejected.
01:22U.S. media reported that the depositions will be videotaped and released by the Republican committee staff days after the
01:29interviews are completed.
