00:00Super Bowl Glenn, defensive play calling is my superpower and why I took it back.
00:05Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has finally said what we've all been waiting for.
00:10He's going to be the one calling plays on the defensive side of the football in 2026.
00:15To me, play calling is my superpower, really.
00:18Doing it for four years in Detroit.
00:22And man, just look at the maturation of those four years of how we improved every year
00:26and how I improved as a play caller. I really miss doing that.
00:31And I think it's a huge part of helping us become the team that I see us become,
00:37the team that Moose see us become, the team that Woody sees us become.
00:40Well, it's about time. I think this is something I should have been done last year.
00:44Steve Wilks, great veteran coach throughout the NFL,
00:47but he had absolutely no clue what he was doing calling the defensive side of the football.
00:52And Aaron Glenn, I understand you wanted to free up some time for you to be a head coach
00:57and have more eyes and ears on the game management side of things,
01:01but the Jets were horrible at both.
01:03Just think of how good that defense could have been last season
01:06with Quinnen Williams, Sauce Gardner, and Aaron Glenn calling the calls.
01:10But that makes me think, when he comes out and says this at the combine,
01:14that makes me think that the reports of Woody Johnson
01:17kind of making him take over the play calling duties is true.
01:21And I say the word make in that sentence as a good thing
01:24because Aaron Glenn is a damn good defensive coordinator.
01:27But how do you interview a veteran DC with credentials like Wink Martindale twice
01:33if you don't plan on ultimately taking over the play calling duties?
01:38We got your boy Brian Duker in from Detroit.
01:41He's going to be your eyes, ears, and your enforcer,
01:44so that can free you up a little bit when it comes to still having your culture called or ran
01:49on defense.
01:50And you can kind of help with the game management.
01:52But I think Aaron Glenn has now learned the most important rule in the NFL
01:56when it comes to a play caller slash head coach.
02:00You got to go down with your own ship.
02:02Robert Sala learned his lesson.
02:05He is now calling the plays, and he's running the ship down in Nashville.
02:09Because if you're a defensive coach, and you're a head coach,
02:13and you're not calling those plays, and things don't work out,
02:16you're going to end up a defensive coordinator anyway because your ass got fired.
