00:10More than two-thirds of Europeans believe their country is under threat,
00:14according to the latest EUR Barometer.
00:16France, the Netherlands and Denmark registered the highest levels,
00:20while Slovenia, Croatia and the Czech Republic recorded the lowest.
00:24At the same time, EU citizens draw a clear distinction
00:27between their threats to their country and to themselves,
00:30as the majority disagree that their personal safety is at risk.
00:34Most Europeans trust the EU to strengthen security and defense,
00:38especially in countries such as Luxembourg at 76%,
00:41Portugal at 74%,
00:44Cyprus at 73%,
00:46and Lithuania at 71%.
00:49Younger EU respondents aged 15 and 24
00:51trust the EU on security and defense more than other age groups,
00:55especially those aged 55 and older.
00:58However, almost one-third of citizens believe that the EU does not invest enough
01:03in defense and security,
01:04while 14% think it invests too much.
01:08Demand for increased EU investment rises with age,
01:11with 27% of 15 to 24-year-old respondents saying they want this,
01:16while 35% of those aged 55 and older call for it.
01:20EU space policy is also considered a hot topic within security and defense,
01:25with 34% of respondents mentioning it as their top priority.
