00:01Birmingham City are quietly emerging as one of the most intriguing challenges in the EFL Championship.
00:07Playoff race as Chris Davis builds a strong foundation at St Andrews.
00:11Back in the second tier after winning League One with a record points tally
00:15and earning Davis Manager of the Season honours,
00:18the Blues have steadily grown into genuine top six contenders.
00:22A game in the first half that we played really well in.
00:25I thought we could have been 3-0 up at half-time actually with the way we were playing,
00:29but I really liked it. I think we were brave.
00:31We were aggressive, all the things that wanted us to be.
00:34We look like us and a team that's been flying recently.
00:37We really, really put to the sword in that first half and I say we could have been,
00:41could have possibly been three goals up.
00:44Second half we had to dig in naturally away from home and you know that their tails will go up
00:49if they do get a goal.
00:50So we had to, we had to be resolute and we did that.
00:52So yeah, I was really, really pleased.
00:55The momentum has accelerated in recent weeks.
00:57A half 4-2-1 win at Norwich City on the road.
01:00Their first victory at Carrow Road in 24 years.
01:03Lifted Birmingham up to seventh, just outside the playoff places and beaten in eight league games.
01:10Big moments and obviously that gets us going and I thought we continued with that.
01:14We looked really composed, we looked strong, we looked like we could have scored again actually.
01:22There was a couple of moments but we couldn't quite do it.
01:25But you know at half-time the message was don't change, we need to continue with that.
01:30Naturally you do then tend to drop a little bit as the opposition start to push and they've got nothing
01:34to lose at 2-0 down.
01:35But I thought we dug in really, really well and obviously you could see what it meant to the fans
01:40and another away victory that we can celebrate.
01:43That recent run has put the Blues within touching distance of the top six with only a couple of points
01:48separating them from the playoff places as the season enters its final third.
01:54Consistency has been the hallmark of their resurgence and January additions like August Proustay aim to boost attacking options for
02:00the promotion push.
02:02His energy, I think he's a really motivated player.
02:07Every day in training he's very alert, he's very alive, he's full of energy and I think he's given us
02:11a good dimension on that side.
02:12He runs without the ball as well as wanting to dribble and get his crosses in.
02:16So I really liked his goal today and his general performance.
02:19I thought he showed that energy that he's got and it gives us a lot in the final third.
02:24And then he's defensively diligent or do his job because he had a tactically an important role today.
02:29Again, he's comfortable doing those kind of jobs. So I think it was a good performance from Carlos.
02:34Under Davies' stewardship, marked by a tactical organisation, a clear playing identity and strong recruitment,
02:41Blues have laid a platform that can sustain a serious push for the playoffs.
02:45If they maintain their current form and keep climbing, they could be looking at a first taste of championship postseason
02:51action
02:52in some time with momentum and supporters behind them as Wembley ambitions grow.
02:57So, let's go.
02:58Let's go.
