Trump threatens countries that 'play games' with existing trade deals
Transcript
00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose higher tariffs on countries that
00:05play games with recent trade deals, after the Supreme Court blocked many of the sweeping
00:10global levies.
00:11Any country that wants to play games with the ridiculous Supreme Court decision, especially
00:17those that have ripped off the USA for years, will be met with a much higher tariff, Trump
00:23wrote on Truth Social.
00:24The court ruled that the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act did not authorize
00:32the president to impose the initial tariffs, which are paid by businesses bringing goods
00:37into the country.
00:38Trump responded by announcing a new 15% global tariff, leaving many trade partners like the
00:43U.K. and E.U. uncertain if their previously negotiated deals will still hold.
00:48While the White House insists its trade policy hasn't changed, Senate Democrats have
00:54already vowed to block any attempt to extend the new duties beyond their initial 150-day
01:00period.
