On the eve of the CARICOM meeting in St Kitts & Nevis, an Opposition Senator says supporting Cuba "is not anti-American."

The Opposition Senator was responding to the Prime Minister's criticism of a statement by former Heads of Government in CARICOM about the crisis in Cuba.

00:34people what is essentially a U.S. fuel blockade of Cuba.
00:38Later last week, Prime Minister Passat-Bassetta said in her comments to the media that the people who live in
00:44democratic societies who are vociferously supporting dictatorship and communism would never want to live in a communist dictatorship themselves.
00:53The Prime Minister's response to serious concerns about the welfare of the Cuban people is completely unacceptable.
01:02The people of Cuba, 11 million of them, are under a literal siege at this time, to the extent that
01:11even fuel is being blockaded from reaching the island.
01:16They are in danger of starvation and collapse.
01:19Senator Brown made his statement on the eve of the 50th regular meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government
01:25of Caracom in St. Kitts and Nevis, which Prime Minister Passat-Bassetta will be attending.
01:30The Prime Minister told the media last week that she stands for regular, free and fair democratic elections in a
01:37multi-party system and other hallmarks of democracy, including capitalism, and that she has no problem telling this to her
01:44Caracom colleagues.
01:45The opposition senator said Trinidad and Tobago has always stood with the Cuban people against the economic embargo.
