00:00The newspaper is actually to bring you ads, not news.
00:06Where does a newspaper make its money from?
00:11Not from the rupees 5 or 10 that you spend on a copy of it.
00:17Think of the amount of paper the newspaper brings to you.
00:22Rupees 5 is not sufficient even to cover the paper.
00:27So how is the newspaper?
00:29So inexpensive because they are making the bulk of their money from?
00:35And if the ad is what the newspaper exists for, then what do the news exist for?
00:46If the newspaper is not to bring you news but ads.
00:52So the ads are important, the news are not.
00:54Hence the news will be selected in a way that facilitates the ads.
01:01Now ads are about consuming something.
01:04All ads are about that, right?
01:05So the news will be put in a way, chosen in a way and presented in a way that turns
01:11you into more of a consumer.
01:15For example, if there is a big advertisement of a security company, half a page.
01:24Then the upper half of the page must preferably have news that make you feel insecure.
01:34So the top half makes you feel insecure, that's news.
01:38The bottom half has an ad of a security company.
01:42That goes well, right?
01:43Yep.
01:45That's how weakness is introduced into you.
01:47And you must see that very carefully.
01:49When you read a newspaper, don't just read the newspaper.
01:52Look at the whole thing.
01:53How is it laid out?
01:54What's happening?
01:54Where is it making money from?
01:56That's why education is so important.
01:57That's why knowing a bit of economics is so important.
