00:00I didn't know until this moment what the rightful cause to pursue was.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for film casts that had issues with one actor in
00:12particular.
00:13No way I pick you're Mr. Pink.
00:17Number 30. Bordello of Blood, Dennis Miller.
00:20The least any actor can do is be a team player.
00:23For this cult classic vampire flick, comedian Dennis Miller couldn't even do that.
00:27I feel like I'm in a Bad Tales from the Crypt episode.
00:30Not only did he improvise a majority of his dialogue, but there were days in which he wouldn't show up
00:34to film at all.
00:35This forced his scene partners, such as Angie Everhart, to act opposite a script supervisor instead.
00:41Before long, the cast grew angry with him.
00:43Are you crazy? Why is that crazy?
00:46Corey Feldman had his own grievances about Miller's attitude, and has called out everything from his treatment of the crew
00:51to his unenthusiastic promotion of the movie.
00:53His disdain for the project led to a negative experience for everyone involved.
00:57And likely led to at least one professional bridge being burned.
01:00Because I advanced a singular theory that the perpetrator of our crimes is an eternal spirit who sustains itself solely
01:06through the intake of human hemoglobin through a set of protracted fangs.
01:08Shut up, Rave.
01:09Number 29. Life of Crime, Jennifer Aniston.
01:13Introvert or diva?
01:15Ask the cast of Life of Crime, and they might tell you that Jennifer Aniston falls more into the second
01:19category.
01:20Have you met Mickey and my wife?
01:21No, I am Mickey.
01:22Ray Sheldon.
01:23Nice to meet you.
01:24She's the other trophy in my life.
01:26While the dark comedy was being made, the actress supposedly kept to herself.
01:30While there's nothing wrong with that in theory, it seemed to come at the cost of forming a bond with
01:34her fellow performers.
01:35Wow.
01:36Mickey, you okay?
01:38Uh-huh.
01:39One source claimed she wouldn't eat meals with them, and that she insisted on using her own private deluxe vehicle,
01:45rather than the vans the other actors took.
01:47The anonymous insider added on that even her trailer was isolated, and reportedly stationed miles from where they filmed.
01:54Although she reportedly wasn't outwardly mean, she came across as more standoffish than anticipated.
01:58Are you mad at anybody?
02:01No.
02:03Not at all.
02:04Number 28.
02:05Magic Mike.
02:07Alex Pettifer.
02:08While his feud with Channing Tatum got the most buzz, his behavior towards the rest of the cast ended up
02:12being brushed under the rug.
02:15Where are you from?
02:17Is it your sprux?
02:19Alex Pettifer clashed with the lead of Magic Mike during filming, which supposedly resulted in him being excluded from certain
02:24promotional material.
02:26You can do this.
02:27Because I know you can.
02:28Let me do it.
02:29According to one insider, Pettifer acted as though he was above other performers, and was reportedly rude to just about
02:35everyone on set.
02:36The rumors didn't help his reputation, especially since he'd been called out on similar behavior during other projects.
02:42His alleged beef with Tatum may have been the reason he wasn't in the sequels, but if the stories are
02:46true, then it's likely the rest of his co-stars also didn't want him to return.
02:50So can you smile?
02:51And can you look at me?
02:53Number 27.
02:54The Star Wars Franchise.
02:55Anthony Daniels.
02:56As R2-D2 and C-3PO, they were best friends.
03:00In real life, however, Kenny Baker and Anthony Daniels were anything but, and it was reportedly all due to the
03:05latter.
03:05Where do you think you're going?
03:07Well, I'm not going that way.
03:09In 2005, Baker aired out his grievances against the performer, recalling a moment where Daniels was rude to him, and
03:15claiming that he refused to interact with the other actors.
03:17How would you know the hyperdrive is deactivated?
03:23The beef apparently didn't begin and end with Baker, however.
03:26In a 2011 interview, the R2-D2 actor went on to say that Daniels felt he was above all of
03:31the actors, and that no one in the cast had a single nice thing to say about him.
03:35While others like Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill haven't confirmed the claims, they haven't exactly denied them either.
03:40Sir, might I suggest that you...
03:43It can wait.
03:44Number 26.
03:45Mansion of Blood.
03:47Gary Busey.
03:48Having a poor relationship with the rest of the cast can have lasting consequences.
03:52Welcome to Mayhem Man...
03:55I'm sorry.
03:56Mayhew Manchin.
03:57Gary Busey knows that all too well, with his poor treatment of others resulting in him being fired during the
04:03filming of horror film, Mansion of Blood.
04:05Now you think this is a terrible party?
04:09Be gone with yourself.
04:10There were several claims that he was hard to work with during production, leading to the producers and his fellow
04:15actors becoming irritated with the seasoned performer.
04:18However, what truly landed him in hot water was an incident where he allegedly made crass remarks to a woman
04:23on set.
04:24Though the comment wasn't revealed, it was apparently bad enough to warrant his removal from the project.
04:29Busey's reps denied the claims, but none of his co-stars stepped up to defend him after the fact.
04:33It's an honor to know you and be in your presence.
04:43That was weird.
04:45Weird.
04:46Number 25.
04:48Fast and Furious franchise.
04:50Dwayne Johnson.
04:51After debuting in Fast Five as Luke Hobbs, Johnson seemed to be a perfect fit for the series.
04:56Over the years, however, issues between him and multiple castmates have come to light.
05:00The Toretto!
05:09You're under arrest.
05:11Arrest?
05:13I don't feel like I'm under arrest.
05:16How about you, Brian?
05:17No, not a bit.
05:18It began in 2016, when Johnson posted on Instagram, calling out multiple male co-stars.
05:24Shortly afterwards, an anonymous source claimed that Vin Diesel had several issues with Johnson due to his delaying filming.
05:30Things became worse once it became apparent that Johnson was going to split and star in a spinoff with Jason
05:36Statham.
05:37Tyrese Gibson was vocally opposed to the decision and lambasted Johnson online.
05:41So now we work for the Hulk? That's what we're doing?
05:45Why do I smell baby oil?
05:47You keep running your pie hole, you're going to smell an ass kicking.
05:50He even threatened to drop out of the franchise entirely if Johnson appeared in F9.
05:54So much for family.
05:55Not bad for a cop.
06:04I never thought I'd trust a criminal.
06:10Until next time.
06:13Until next time.
06:18A stellar performance came at the cost of his co-star's comfort.
06:21James Anderson didn't have an easy task when he was cast as Bob Yule, the main antagonist in To Kill
06:27a Mockingbird.
06:27Excuse me, Mr. Yule, I'm very...
06:29Hey, Captain, somebody told me just now that, uh, they thought that you believed Tom Robinson's story again, aren't.
06:39You know what I said?
06:43I said you wrong, man. You dead wrong.
06:46However, he committed himself to portraying the shameless bigot, for better and for worse.
06:51He embodied the character so well, that Mary Batum, who played Scout, recalled that she and other actors were unsettled
06:57by him,
06:58to the point they were scared every time he walked on set.
07:01He became so in tune with his character, that it reportedly caused tension between him and Gregory Peck, who played
07:06his adversary.
07:07You've taken his...
07:08Excuse me, Mr. Yule.
07:15What kind of man are you?
07:17Though his methods resulted in an unforgettable performance, they may have had an overall negative impact on his professional relationships.
07:26Number 23. Groundhog Day.
07:29Bill Murray.
07:30Although he was hilarious as Phil Connors, his real-life behavior wasn't quite as funny.
07:34This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather.
07:41Bill Murray clashed with several castmates during the filming of Groundhog Day,
07:45leaving no one safe from his ire.
07:47He feuded with his on-screen love interest, Annie McDowell, and has since admitted that he owed her an apology
07:52for it.
07:53Well, what should we drink to?
07:56To the Groundhog.
07:58I always drink to world peace.
08:01Michael Shannon thought the seasoned actor hated him after an embarrassing moment between takes,
08:06forcing director Harold Ramis to step in and mediate.
08:09Ramis, who also played the neurologist, had his own issues with Murray.
08:12He was frank about the comedian's lack of professionalism, from showing up late to being needlessly cruel to others on
08:18set.
08:19It's no wonder the two didn't speak for years after the project wrapped.
08:22You know, you want a prediction about the weather?
08:24You're asking the wrong film.
08:27I'll give you a winter prediction.
08:30It's gonna be cold.
08:32It's gonna be gray.
08:35And it's gonna last you for the rest of your life.
08:39Number 22, Lincoln, Daniel Day-Lewis.
08:43Given that he's known for method acting, it's no surprise that he applied that technique while playing the 16th president
08:48of the United States.
08:49And whether any of you or anyone else knows it, I know I need this!
08:54To stay in character, Daniel Day-Lewis had several demands for the rest of the cast.
08:58To start, it was made clear that no one should engage in small talk with him.
09:02The people elected me to represent them, to lead them, and I lead.
09:08You ought to try it.
09:11I admire your zeal, Mr. Stevens, and I have tried to profit from the example of it.
09:18Fellow actor Jared Harris recalled that he nor anyone with an English accent were allowed to speak with it on
09:23set, so they wouldn't throw him off.
09:25As if that wasn't preposterous enough, Day-Lewis insisted that everyone refer to him as Mr. Lincoln, or Mr. President,
09:32while speaking to him.
09:33Though he's undoubtedly one of the greatest actors of his time, working with him appears to be a challenge.
09:38I suppose it's time to go.
09:41Though I would rather stay.
09:43Number 21, Apocalypse Now, Marlon Brando.
09:47There are numerous stories of Marlon Brando being a diva, including on the set of this classic war film.
09:53Are you an assassin?
10:00I'm a soldier.
10:04You are neither.
10:06He started things off poorly by refusing to join the shoot for months, which halted production and forced his co
10:11-stars to brave extreme conditions on set.
10:13When he did arrive, he was out of shape, refused to learn his lines, and paused filming again so that
10:19he could collect his full salary.
10:20It's impossible through words.
10:37He also clashed with fellow actor Dennis Hopper, which resulted in him refusing to be on set with him for
10:42the rest of the project.
10:43Each of his decisions negatively impacted his castmates, and made the already stressful project even more of an ordeal.
10:52Number 20, Boogie Nights, Burt Reynolds.
10:55Being on the same page on a film set is especially important in the adult industry, or a prestige production
11:00about it.
11:23Burt Reynolds openly hated the experience of making the acclaimed Boogie Nights.
11:28His disdain for the subject matter and directing style put him at odds with young Paul Thomas Anderson.
11:33Apparently, the cast wasn't much happier.
11:35In a 2022 interview with Vulture, William H. Macy described Reynolds as clueless about the film's tone, and resented him
11:42changing his attitude after getting an Oscar nomination.
11:44You know what I'm thinking, I'm thinking, I want to be in business with you, Ed.
11:50Mark Wahlberg believes this behavior may have cost Reynolds the award.
11:53Everyone agrees that he gave the performance of a lifetime in Boogie Nights, but it's implied that his lack of
11:58professionalism between takes turned everyone off.
12:00You see, the colonel here, he puts up all the money for our films. It's an important part of the
12:08process.
12:09Number 19, Chinatown, Faye Dunaway.
12:12So let's just drop the whole thing. Sugar, lemon, or both?
12:15Both. Mrs. Mulray, I don't want to drop it.
12:21I better talk to your husband about this.
12:24Why? What on earth for?
12:26As respected for her craft, as she is notorious for her on-set difficulty, Faye Dunaway was also known to
12:32Jack Nicholson as the dreaded Dunaway.
12:35Her tension with Roman Polanski on the set of his neo-noir masterpiece, Chinatown, is already well documented.
12:41It's flawed in the iris.
12:44They would get into shouting matches over things like Polanski adjusting Dunaway's hair without warning.
12:49Although she would call out the director as an authoritarian, much of the cast and crew reportedly felt Dunaway's wrath.
12:55When she requested that Nicholson not simulate their famous slap scene, he didn't object that much to her commitment.
13:00I said I want the truth.
13:02It ultimately paid off, with Dunaway receiving many accolades with the high praise for Chinatown.
13:07Unfortunately, her reputation among colleagues followed her as well.
13:11Number 18, The Royal Tenenbaums, Gene Hackman.
13:14The Wes Anderson dramedy The Royal Tenenbaums is considered a late standout in Gene Hackman's distinguished career.
13:20He didn't seem to agree.
13:21At the moment, no.
13:23But, uh, it doesn't look good.
13:26Hackman was frustrated by the modest production's flat cast salary and adhered to creative conflicts with Anderson.
13:32On-screen wife, Angelica Houston, said that the whole cast was scared of the resentful actor.
13:37What's wrong with you?
13:39Damn.
13:41Ethel.
13:41Are you crazy?
13:43Ethel, baby.
13:44I am dying.
13:45And Bill Murray, who could never be described as the easiest guy to work with, told the Associated Press that
13:51Hackman was really difficult.
13:53This reflected the general sentiments of the cast, though Gwyneth Paltrow posted about the joy in working with such a
13:58legend after his passing in 2025.
14:01Alas, the beloved The Royal Tenenbaums wasn't a joy for Hackman, and everyone knew it.
14:06She said that?
14:10Great.
14:11Got the sucker on the ropes.
14:13Listen.
14:14Number 17.
14:16The Usual Suspects.
14:17Kevin Spacey.
14:18People say I talk too much.
14:20Production on the crime drama classic The Usual Suspects was temporarily halted by an investigation into sexual harassment allegations.
14:28Audiences have their own prime suspect in hindsight, but after Kevin Spacey was hit with multiple allegations of inappropriate behavior
14:34in 2017,
14:35Gabriel Byrne told the Sunday Times that this came as no surprise.
14:39My guess is you'll never hear from him again.
14:41That's Kevin was apparently a common phrase on the set.
14:44The Usual Suspects was said to be a difficult shoot anyway, notably marking the beginning of a long-standing feud
14:49between Stephen Baldwin and Kevin Pollack.
14:52Byrne's insinuation, however, is that everyone was disturbed by Spacey's sleazy disposition,
14:57as if his Oscar-winning performance hasn't been spoiled enough by real twists in our perception of the actor.
15:03The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
15:10And like that, he's gone.
15:16What should have been Lindsay Lohan's bold return to form wound up further setting back her scandalized career.
15:22Scathing reviews aside, the erotic thriller The Canyons is known for the bad press surrounding the lead actress.
15:28I don't know. I guess I'd like to keep some parts of my life private.
15:32Director Paul Schrader was particularly frustrated by her providing no press at the Venice Film Festival.
15:37Of course, this merely punctuated a working relationship marred by Lohan's tardiness and demanding behavior.
15:44Don't go there. It's hard for me too, okay?
15:47It's hard for me too. That's why I tried helping you with the movie, because I care.
15:51But you don't have to go and say things that are going to hurt me.
15:53Adult film star James Dean said that her disrespect for his mainstream turn further raised tensions on set.
16:00Lohan's volatility can of course be attributed to her struggles with substance use disorder, which she has since overcome.
16:05Of course, she may never fully live down the word of the director and cast of The Canyons.
16:10No, you're telling me this because you're jealous and a little drunk.
16:14God, it's such a cool thing to do.
16:16Number 15. Man on the Moon. Jim Carrey.
16:19Ironically, comedy legend Andy Kaufman's lack of professionalism is what made Jim Carrey's extreme professionalism such a burden on the
16:27set of Man on the Moon.
16:28I want to be the biggest star in the world.
16:32People love comedians.
16:34I'm not a comedian. I don't do jokes. I don't even know what's funny.
16:37The biopic chronicles Kaufman's rise and fall as an eccentric provocateur, prankster, and altogether unreliable colleague.
16:45Carrey's dedicated method acting meant maintaining that behavior at all times during the production, much to the annoyance of the
16:51cast and crew.
16:52What are you doing? I do not wrestle men. I am going to sue you, Lawler. I am a national
17:00TV star.
17:01His immersion into Kaufman's crass alter ego, Tony Clifton, had to have been especially frustrating.
17:07The end result was a brilliant performance that should have advanced Carrey as a serious actor.
17:12Instead, Man on the Moon established his reputation for being a serious pain with his dramatic commitment.
17:18You don't know the real me.
17:21There isn't a real you.
17:26Oh yeah, I forgot.
17:32For every memorable fan experience, there's an unflattering anecdote about working with Bill Murray.
17:38This was part of the fun until allegations of serious harassment began to emerge in the 2020s.
17:44Chief among them was Lucy Liu's account of tension throughout the production of the first Charlie's Angels movie,
17:49which got physical over a heated scene.
17:51Murray's efforts to prepare his scene partner with inexcusable and unacceptable comments prompted a violent response.
18:02Co-stars Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz supported Liu as she elaborated on this incident over the coming years.
18:08It was then that we understood the scope of Murray's conflicts during production,
18:11and why Bernie Mac took on the Bosley role for Charlie's Angels full throttle.
18:21There were no fuzzy feelings for the live-action The Cat in the Hat among grown-ups.
18:26According to a 2016 AV Club interview with Amy Hill, working with Mike Myers was its own misery.
18:32The actor was a total diva, frequently hiding out in his trailer and interacting mostly with a team of assistants
18:37to meet his demands.
18:40He actively avoided casting crew in between takes,
18:44tarnishing any lively mood on the already grueling production.
18:47Myers didn't try to hide that The Cat in the Hat was a legal obligation
18:51after he cancelled another production over a disappointing script he wrote himself.
18:55That's still no excuse for him making his co-stars on this film and others feel unappreciated.
19:00I think there's something wrong with your breaks. When's the last time you had them checked?
19:05Number 12. The Prince and the Showgirl, Marilyn Monroe.
19:09The so-called quintessential blonde bombshell worked hard to be taken seriously as an actress.
19:14You know you do need more love in your life. I never met anyone who needed it more.
19:19Directed by and starring the towering Laurence Olivier,
19:22The Prince and the Showgirl sadly didn't bring much credibility to Marilyn Monroe.
19:25In a 2012 interview with The Telegraph, co-star Joan Kent confirmed the legend of Monroe's tardiness,
19:31script issues, and over-reliance on her acting coach.
19:34It was apparent that her mental health and substance use disorder had become unmanageable.
19:39She was such a burden on The Prince and the Showgirl that Kent remarked that the experience aged Olivier 15
19:44years.
19:45Since Monroe's tragic death in 1962, audiences have regarded her as an icon beyond her beauty
19:50and debated how her colleagues interpreted her obvious struggles.
19:53Oh, I don't need any rescuing. I'm having a lovely time.
19:57Elsie, you're a wicked girl.
19:59No, I'm not. Not yet.
20:00Number 11. Blade Trinity, Wesley Snipes.
20:04This threequels dip in quality mirrors its production issues with star Wesley Snipes at the center.
20:09Patton Oswald called Snipes crazy in a hilarious way,
20:12claiming he spent most days smoking in his trailer,
20:15refused to break character, and strangled director David S. Goyer.
20:18Wall of pot stench would just be like, whoa, and kind of push you to the side,
20:25and then he would only answer to the name Blade.
20:29Where Oswald found humor in Snipes' alleged behavior,
20:31Jessica Biel thought the Blade actor was a little unnerving.
20:34Snipes also reportedly called Ryan Reynolds a racial slur.
20:37According to Oswald, the filmmakers intentionally gave Reynolds the worst jokes and puns,
20:42so they could cut to Wesley's face not doing anything,
20:44because that's all they could get from him.
20:46All the vampires go, Popeye.
20:50So, can we just go right ahead and sign you up for one of our secret Night Stalker Dakota rings?
20:56Everyone was seemingly unified in making fun of Snipes,
20:59who reconciled with Reynolds 20 years later in Deadpool and Wolverine.
21:02I want to talk to you.
21:04And I was like, I hate this guy.
21:06No, this is a joke.
21:07We've been playing this for like two decades.
21:10We've actually liked each other the whole time.
21:13Number 10. American Psycho.
21:15Christian Bale.
21:16Christian Bale is another actor known for Going Method.
21:19While this has resulted in some great performances,
21:21you can imagine how stressful this might be for Bale's co-stars,
21:25especially with serial killer Patrick Bateman.
21:27I'm very sorry, sir.
21:28J&B straight and a corona.
21:30Would you like to hear the-
21:31Double absolute martini.
21:33Yes, sir.
21:34Would you like to hear the specials?
21:36Not if you want to keep your spleen.
21:37While Bale didn't go too far,
21:39Chloe's 70 found it difficult to socialize with him,
21:42saying,
21:42Working with Christian was pretty hard,
21:44because I didn't know this whole method thing.
21:46I think if you stay,
21:48something bad will happen.
21:53I think I might hurt you.
21:54Years later,
21:55when they re-teamed on Ford vs. Ferrari,
21:57Josh Lucas told Bale
21:58all of the other actors thought
22:00that he was the worst actor they'd ever seen
22:02during the production of American Psycho.
22:03Lucas changed his tune
22:04after seeing Bale's performance in the finished film.
22:07Even so,
22:07Bale was in the dark about how his co-stars felt.
22:10And we could not get through the scene
22:11at all,
22:12because the crew was busting up,
22:14I was busting up.
22:15It's a funny movie
22:16if you're a sick bastard like I am.
22:18Number 9.
22:19Blue Collar.
22:20Richard Pryor.
22:21There's no denying that Richard Pryor
22:23was a one-of-a-kind talent.
22:24With a history of heavy substance use, though,
22:26he wasn't always the easiest person to work with.
22:29This was apparent on the set of Blue Collar.
22:31God knows I try to be.
22:33While there were tensions across the ensemble,
22:35Pryor was arguably the main source of conflict.
22:38Pryor reportedly didn't get along
22:39with Yafit Kodo or Harvey Keitel,
22:41constantly arguing with them.
22:43Matters grew especially aggressive
22:44between Pryor and Keitel,
22:46who threw an ashtray's contents at the camera
22:48in response to his co-stars prolonged ad-libs.
22:50Don't you aim at all?
22:52You tell me they have a little curve to it.
22:55I'm just setting them up for the bet.
22:57I have a new technique.
23:00It's called radar.
23:01In retaliation,
23:02Pryor had his bodyguard beat Keitel.
23:04Pryor also allegedly attacked Kodo with a chair.
23:06The animosity extended to director Paul Schrader,
23:09who accused Pryor of pulling a gun on him.
23:12It's all right.
23:12Let me talk to the new steward.
23:15Yeah, let him talk to me.
23:16Tell me about how you like the working man.
23:18Number 8.
23:19Fury.
23:20Shia LaBeouf.
23:21The real battle in this World War II film
23:23was between Shia LaBeouf and his fellow actors.
23:26No stranger to erratic behavior,
23:27LaBeouf got into character by having a tooth removed
23:29and giving himself scars.
23:31I'll sing it if you don't do that.
23:32You need to touch your mustache.
23:33Don't f***ing touch your mustache.
23:35Stop, Brady.
23:35Why does that bother you so much?
23:36Stop, I'll shoot you.
23:37I'll shoot you, I swear.
23:38He also stopped bathing,
23:40much to the annoyance of Logan Lerman,
23:42Jason Isaacs,
23:43and Brad Pitt.
23:44The young actor was reportedly sent to a bed and breakfast
23:46to distance himself from the rest of the cast.
23:48There were also fistfights during production,
23:51although LaBeouf says this was part of a bonding experience
23:53suggested by director David Ayer.
23:55It's a hard environment, you know,
23:56it's a hard environment,
23:58but you learn to love each other
24:00to the point where you don't want to go nowhere.
24:02You know, none of us wanted to leave the tank.
24:04LaBeouf claims tensions de-escalated as the shoot wrapped
24:07and his co-stars all love each other.
24:09According to the Mail on Sunday, though,
24:11several people on set spoke out against him,
24:13including Pitt and Ayer.
24:14When you put a bunch of guys in extreme circumstances like that
24:17and everyone's trying to make the best movie possible,
24:20you know,
24:21and there's a bunch of testosterone,
24:22there's gonna be, you know,
24:24some clashing of the heads.
24:25Number 7.
24:26Out for Justice.
24:27Steven Seagal.
24:28Few actors have a worse reputation than Steven Seagal.
24:31It's safe to say he didn't make many friends
24:33during the production of this action thriller.
24:35Because those bullets could have saved you a lot of pain.
24:38I like pain, you know.
24:39Seagal supposedly had co-star
24:41William Forsythe's screen time reduced,
24:43fearing he was better than him.
24:44Despite this, Forsythe said,
24:45a part of me that really liked Seagal,
24:47but then there's that other side.
24:49Julianna Margulies was less forgiving,
24:51finding Seagal so scary
24:52that she didn't want to be alone in the same room with him.
24:54And I figured if I just survived
24:56in a hotel room with an action star and a gun
24:58without getting hurt,
24:59I could take a subway ride home and pay off my credit card.
25:02So that's what I did.
25:03No cast member grew to hate Seagal more
25:05than an up-and-coming John Leguizamo,
25:07who later worked with him again in Executive Decision,
25:10where a physical altercation broke out.
25:12Leguizamo has since repeatedly made fun of Seagal,
25:14even basing his character from the menu on him.
25:16All right, it's Steven Seagal.
25:18I base it on.
25:19Ooh!
25:20Well, he's a bully, so I'm okay with that.
25:21Yeah, fair enough.
25:22And he's getting older,
25:23so if he catches me on a red carpet,
25:25I'll be able to run away.
25:27Number six, Suicide Squad.
25:30Jared Leto.
25:31Jared Leto's turn as the Joker
25:32received more attention for his off-screen behavior.
25:35Leto allegedly sent the cast
25:36an assortment of disturbing gifts,
25:38including used condoms,
25:39sex toys,
25:40and a dead pig.
25:41Many weird things.
25:42I can't even begin to tell you
25:44the weird things I got.
25:45Some cast members tried putting a smile
25:47on Leto's methods.
25:48Margot Robbie was initially disgusted
25:50by the live rat Leto gifted her,
25:51although she wound up keeping it as a pet.
25:53Others struggled to see the joke.
25:54Viola Davis called Leto's gifts horrific,
25:57saying that he did some bad things.
25:58I almost had, like, my pepper spray out, you know?
26:03You're bad from Law and Order.
26:04Yeah, you remember that bullet you sent me?
26:07Adewale Akinoye Agbaje found Leto's actions
26:09downright selfish,
26:11not wanting his dirty leftovers.
26:12No one's telling me of dirty leftovers.
26:14That just isn't right.
26:15You see why you ain't part of the squad, right?
26:17That's what you're upset about.
26:18Not the actual gift,
26:19just like you weren't invited to the party.
26:20No, you can see why you ain't part of the squad, right?
26:23That's just downright selfish.
26:24In response to online backlash,
26:26Leto said,
26:27if I do something risky and you don't like it,
26:29basically, you can kiss my ass.
26:31Try telling that to your co-stars, Mr. J.
26:33I mean, the Joker is somebody
26:35who doesn't really respect things
26:37like personal space or boundaries.
26:40Number 5.
26:41The Island of Dr. Moreau
26:42Val Kilmer
26:43This production nightmare faced numerous obstacles,
26:46including an unpredictable Marlon Brando.
26:48Look at yourself.
26:49I understand that I must be shocking to you.
26:53Val Kilmer was perhaps the most antagonistic figure, however.
26:56Brought on board as a substitute for Bruce Willis,
26:58Kilmer refused to work the required number of days,
27:01resulting in him being designated to a supporting role.
27:03When he showed up on set reportedly two days late,
27:06he brought a hostile attitude with him.
27:08Supposedly,
27:09this was because his marriage to Joanne Wally was ending.
27:12I know.
27:14I give all my gift to feed the poor.
27:18I know I give my body to be burned.
27:21In any case,
27:22Kilmer added toxicity to an already uneasy environment,
27:25giving actor Rob Morrow another reason to quit.
27:27Although director Richard Stanley
27:28was replaced with John Frankenheimer,
27:30this did little to calm Kilmer.
27:32In addition to allegedly feuding with Brando,
27:34Kilmer was accused of generally being a prep school jerk.
27:37Val was smoking a cigarette.
27:39And he...
27:42And he starts to burn the end of this guy's hair.
27:45During the take.
27:47Number 4.
27:47Mutiny on the Bounty.
27:49Marlon Brando.
27:50Ho ho ho,
27:51we're not done with Brando yet.
27:53Dr. Moreau was far from the first production
27:55that Brando made difficult.
27:561962's Mutiny on the Bounty
27:58was not only one of the most expensive films at the time,
28:00but also one of the biggest flops.
28:02Much of the blame went to Brando,
28:03who was accused of being controlling,
28:05tardy,
28:06and uncooperative.
28:07It's the privilege of every captain
28:09to decide when an emergency
28:10wants a reduction of water rations.
28:12Who can deny there was an emergency?
28:15Aside from clashing with director Louis Milestone,
28:17Brando didn't get along with his co-stars.
28:19Trevor Howard called Brando unprofessional
28:21and completely ridiculous,
28:22while Richard Harris described him
28:24as a large, dreadful nightmare.
28:26In some strange way,
28:27he either didn't want to
28:28because of his method upbringing,
28:30everything should be real,
28:31his lines,
28:31or else he actually couldn't remember,
28:34but he couldn't remember lines.
28:36Shooting one scene,
28:37Harris walked off the set
28:38and shouted to Brando,
28:39when you're ready to work,
28:40call me.
28:41Milestone would describe the production,
28:42as the mutiny of Marlon Brando.
28:53Following his failure,
28:55Hollywood and Brando's career
28:56took significant turns.
29:01This hangout comedy launched several careers,
29:04most notably Matthew McConaughey's.
29:08In a way,
29:10McConaughey has Sean Andrews to thank.
29:11Initially,
29:12Andrews' Kevin Pickford
29:13was going to have a more prominent part.
29:15Director Richard Linklater could tell
29:17that the other actors
29:18weren't responding to Andrews, however.
29:20Linklater even broke up a fight
29:21between Andrews and Jason London.
29:23As such,
29:24Linklater reduced Andrews' role
29:25and gave McConaughey more screen time.
29:27The only cast member Andrews gelled with
29:29was Mila Jovovich,
29:30who also had her role downsized.
29:42Jovovich and Andrews got hitched behind the scenes,
29:44although the marriage was annulled after two months.
29:46It's kind of a little hard for me
29:48to remember things from Dazed and Confused
29:50because we were all like seriously
29:52a little Dazed and Confused while filming it.
29:55The cast otherwise found Andrews cocky
29:57as he built himself up as the next Marlon Brando.
29:59Well,
30:00Andrews and Brando have one thing in common.
30:03Number two,
30:03Reservoir Dogs.
30:05Lawrence Tierney.
30:06Given this veteran character actor's background
30:08playing tough guys,
30:09Quentin Tarantino cast him
30:10as crime boss Joe Cabot in his debut film.
30:13How about if I'm Mr. Purple?
30:15That sounds good to me.
30:16I'll probably be Mr. Purple.
30:17You're not Mr. Purple.
30:19Some guy has some other job as Mr. Purple.
30:22You're Mr. Pink!
30:23It soon occurred to Tarantino
30:25that Tierney was,
30:26in his words,
30:27a complete lunatic.
30:29Tarantino thus decided to shoot Tierney's scenes first.
30:31During production,
30:33Tierney was arrested for drunkenly shooting his nephew at home,
30:35although he was released to complete filming.
30:37Tarantino told The Guardian,
30:39by the end of the week,
30:40everybody on set hated Tierney.
30:42It wasn't just me.
30:43He also had this thing
30:43where you'd be trying to talk to him.
30:46Okay, so Lawrence and then all of a sudden
30:48he would just start walking away.
30:50All right, right in the middle of your talking.
30:52This hectic week culminated in a fight
30:54between the actor and director,
30:55driving Tarantino to fire Tierney.
30:57In response,
30:58the whole set applauded Tarantino.
31:00The crew
31:02breaks out into applause.
31:04While Tarantino ultimately got the scenes
31:06he needed from Tierney,
31:07they never collaborated again.
31:09All right, kid, how about you?
31:10Me and you, we're going to go out
31:11and we're going to drink
31:11and we'll put this all behind us, you know?
31:13And I go,
31:14nah, I just really feel like going on a drink.

31:32Number one,
31:34Cobra Verde,
31:34Klaus Kinski.
31:36The simultaneously revered
31:37and reviled Klaus Kinski
31:39was the bane of many film casts,
31:42including five directed by Werner Herzog.
31:44Audiences particularly note Fitzcarraldo
31:47for its fraught production
31:48and Herzog receiving an offer
31:50from indigenous Amazonian extras
31:51to kill the hostile actor.
31:53I want my owner house.
31:57I want the opener house.
32:00This church remains closed
32:02till this town has its opener house.
32:06But Cobra Verde was really the breaking point.
32:09Cinematographer Thomas Motch
32:10actually quit the project
32:12under Kinski's relentless verbal abuse,
32:14which extended to just about everyone
32:16in the crew and cast.
32:17The cruelty had become so uncontrollable
32:19and sometimes physical
32:20that Herzog could no longer justify
32:22working with the undeniable talent.
32:24The two never collaborated again
32:26before Kinski's death in 1991.
32:33Although their professional relationship
32:35consistently yielded masterpieces,
32:37Cobra Verde settled
32:38that no one could escape
32:39the wrath of Kinski.
32:40So, the reality of your world
32:45is nothing more
32:47than a rotten caricature
32:49of great opera.
32:50Which of these actors
32:51would you want to work with the least?
