00:00My name is Jose Barco, I'm a deported veteran. I served in the U.S. Army for six years. I
00:09did two tours in Iraq. I was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds that I sustained while deployed to Iraq.
00:24I wasn't a U.S. citizen, but I was a legal U.S. resident. But because of a felony conviction,
00:30I was deported in November of last year, 2025, to Mexico. And now, there I am.
00:40I was deported to Mexico after being detained by ICE for almost a year. And now, I'm figuring out what
00:51to do or how to get back on my feet here in a foreign country.
00:58For me, home is being with my family. When I think of home, I think of family. So, that's home
01:08for me.
01:09My hope for the future is to become a Mexican resident eventually and maybe reunite with my family, whether here
01:23in Mexico or maybe one day if everything goes great, maybe back in the U.S. one day.
