00:00Friends, continue enjoying Buda Canifa at UniFMX at Rolando Scenes and today, well, from the National Film Library, we're sitting
00:07here at Café Eighty Medio.
00:09Of course, right now, we are going to have a coffee while we chat with our dear Alejandro Ramiz, the
00:15other Alex.
00:15Very happy to see you selected in Cuba, which makes us very happy.
00:19Also showing just last week in a special screening with your friends, with the family of this short film.
00:28The latest by Ernesto Gomez Cruz, which is called Tespiste por Ocho, right?
00:32That's right. I'm happy, happy to be able to make movies again.
00:38I was away from it for a few years doing theater and television, but now returning to cinema with a
00:43project as beautiful as Tespore,
00:45having had this special screening at the National Film Library of the Arts with everyone who participated.
00:51Well, it's a great gift, really.
00:53I always feel very lucky to make movies and do it surrounded by friends.
00:58What about returning to the sets, having this great cast that you have, and working hand-in-hand with Alberto
01:02Estrella,
01:02who we've already seen in era Prima. Everyone, Prima.
01:06Look, it's great to return to film, but I think it's one of the media that evolves the most.
01:11I mean, of course there's technology in theater and television, but real film moves so quickly that you come back
01:18and have to relearn things, learn how to make films with new tools.
01:23That connection has been great again.
01:26And the short film, look, now that it's premiered and I'm watching it on the screen, I think it's a
01:30short film about friends.
01:32It's the story of a high school teacher who's bored to death with his students who don't give a damn.
01:36They're glued to their cell phones, which is very natural.
01:40Of course, something that's happening these days.
01:42Something that's happening these days.
01:43And at night he goes out into the streets of Mexico City to look for new listeners.
01:48And then in the Teporocos, among the drunks on the street,
01:52he finds the best students who are interested and passionate about the lives of Oedipus.
01:55Agamemnon, Clismanestra, and Ithenia, the devil.
02:00So that's the story. We filmed it in Mexico City.
02:04Hey, how was the filming?
02:05And how was this experience?
02:07Well, you say it as friends, with friends, and like friends to make this story
02:12and bring it to the big screen and start festivals with special screenings
02:16and have a beautiful ending in 2020, 2025.
02:19I hadn't had the opportunity to film in Mexico City.
02:22And I love Mexico City.
02:23I love the historic center.
02:26So this short film allowed me to explore wonderful locations
02:30to be able to film with Gomez Cruz in the Zócalo
02:33and on the streets where I saw that beautiful film,
02:36El Callejón de los Milagros.
02:38It's also a way of saying thank you to the cinema of Jorge Fonts
02:41who behaved incredibly well with me during his lifetime,
02:45to whom I am very grateful.
02:47And that's how this shoot went wonderful.
02:49It's the only film shoot I've ever been on.
02:50We finished filming and we're already looking forward to starting again the next day
02:54because we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while filming.
02:57Hey, speaking of satisfactions and projects,
03:00after this screening at the Cineteca Nacional de las Artes,
03:03you're closing the year at one of the most important
03:05and longest-running festivals in the history of Latin American festivals,
03:09which is the Havana Film Festival.
03:12Yes, the new Latin American Cinema Festival in Havana.
03:16Just think, it's turning 46 years old.
03:19It's the same age as me.
03:20Wow.
03:21This year, the festival's focus is on Mexico and the award.
03:25It's the Corales Award for the Churubusco Studios,
03:28which is turning 80 years old.
03:30And we're among the 14 Latin American short films,
03:34Se Selected to Compete.
03:35The solo star is a luxury, of course.
03:38And it's a festival.
03:39I was really excited to go to.
03:42So, to say, thank you very much for your interest in cinema.
03:44We hope that as soon as you find out that Test Sport is scheduled to be shown in a theater,
03:48you will actually go.
03:51You will see how beautiful cinema is,
03:53how beautiful Ernesto Gomez Cruz is,
03:55and how beautiful our Mexico City looks.
