00:17Hey guys! What's up? It's me Priscilla! So for today we're going to move on to a new character and
00:24since they're coming out with a brand new movie, which this is their fifth movie, fourth movie?
00:29I don't know. I lost track of long time ago. If you have seen the movie Ice Age, you're probably
00:35very familiar with the character Scrap, the squirrel or squirrel looking alligator thing that chases the acorn throughout all the
00:43movies of Ice Age.
00:44Now this is a DreamWorks movie, so we're going to go ahead and get started on Scrap because he's kind
00:50of an infamous character from, he's probably the only character that I like other than Sid who is a sloth.
00:57I love sloths.
00:57So, of course, let's go ahead and get started with Scrap.
01:02So the first thing I want to do is I want to go ahead and start laying out just the
01:07general shapes of his body because we want to make sure we get the whole page and he's just, he's
01:13so weird looking. So we're just going to have to improvise on this.
01:16So I'm going to go ahead and start with this oval circle thing. You see how it's not too skinny,
01:25not too wide and everything like that. After this, what I'm going to do is I'm just going to come
01:30down at the corner of my oval.
01:34Kind of go inward and inward and out. Bring it up this way. Then I'm going to go ahead and
01:42jump down to over here and bring down this part connecting to my oval.
01:51After this, I'm going to go ahead and round this down. At the bottom of this, go outward. And then
02:03I'm going to bring this in. It's kind of a rounded box almost. So I go down this way, up
02:12and curved back into this.
02:20So after that, what I want to make sure I do is from this part right here, it's going to
02:26go inward. And then it's going to go ahead and go straight up. Curved back down.
02:43Like this. So you can see what I just drew his weird looking haunch of a leg. Haunch. He's got
02:51huge haunches. That's something to say.
02:54All right. So after this, what I'm going to do is I just cut off the side right here. And
03:00I just round off. You see how I just cut off this part?
03:02And of course, this part would be leading down into, we're going to go this way. Down. Over. Flat. Up.
03:22And we're going to curve from down.
03:24So I went down. Over. Up. And from this part, I just connected, but I curved inward. So we got
03:35his weird looking legs. And if we ever get rid of this, then you can see how he's obviously walking.
03:42He looks so weird.
03:43Let's start looking at his facial features. What I want to do first is, of course, let's draw those buggy
03:49eyeballs. So I'm going to draw one eyeball right here. Nice round circle.
03:54And then I'm just going to build off of that one. And just make kind of like these bug eyes
04:01for right now. I'm going to get rid of some guidelines so you can see what we're going to do
04:05next.
04:06I feel like you can just stop from here and create your own creative character from this spot right here.
04:13What I'm going to do is, I'm going to go ahead, bring this backward just a bit, but we're going
04:19to keep this part right here.
04:22Now, I'm going to make his nose ridge. Now his nose ridge is kind of going to be cut off
04:28from the side right here.
04:32So we're going to use this line, curve inward, up, and you see how we have a bit of a
04:46hill going on, and then that hill is going to go down.
04:56And you see how I'm turning it inwards. So from our hill and down, curve back around, bring this in.
05:15We see how I'm curving it upward.
05:20Go underneath his eye. And give that little bit of a smile. We just drew practically his whole nose and
05:30face. So get rid of the guidelines.
05:32So we have his eyelid and everything ready on this side because ultimately his nose ridge is cutting off the
05:39side of his eye.
05:39Now, from on top right here, I'm just going to go a little bit below to right here where it's
05:45kind of lined up.
05:46If I go diagonal across, then I have one eyelid right here, and that's his top eyelid.
05:54And then from down here, I'm going to curve upward like this.
06:03And this is his bottom eyelid from, I guess he has baggy eyes from chasing that acorn everywhere.
06:09So I just curve upward like this.
06:12We don't really see the bottom of his eyelid on this side of his eye just because I guess it's
06:16just there. I don't know.
06:18But he has more of a prominent bottom eyelid on this side.
06:22Maybe he's just squinting or, you know, he usually, his eye twitches, doesn't it?
06:27So maybe his eye is twitching in this moment.
06:29So from right here, I'm going to go ahead and make this bit of a circle.
06:34You see how I kind of left a little bit of white space right here.
06:38And then I just bring it on down like it's looking off to the side.
06:43And this one as well, it's going to be all the way tucked in that nose ridge because it's looking
06:48at what he's holding on his back.
06:50Oh, I wonder what it is.
06:52So if I go like this and I give a little bit of a shine, and then here's a shine
06:58on this side.
06:59And then of course we have a pupil.
07:02Fill in that dark space.
07:06Fill in this dark space as well.
07:09Yes, we have irises and pupils.
07:13Wonderful.
07:14And he doesn't have an eyelash, like prominent eyelashes, but he has an eyelash line.
07:21So we just make this a little darker up on top and a little bit of darkness down here.
07:28And then of course over here we have a very thick eyelash line, but it's not eyelashes, just an eyelash
07:34line.
07:36Now from this part of his eyelid, I'm just bringing it up, down, and this part would like, this little
07:45bit, it just looks like an eyebrow.
07:47So we just made his eyebrow, but it's not, like, it's not specifically an eyebrow, it just has the indention
07:54of an eyebrow, I guess?
07:55I don't know.
07:56Anyways, after this, what I'm going to do is I'm just going to start from this part of this eyebrow
08:02leading down into his head.
08:04I'm going to go up, and I'm going to make a little bit of a point, and go back down.
08:12So up and down.
08:15So it looks almost like the clover, like a leaf on a four-leaf clover.
08:21After this, I'm going to go ahead, go up.
08:30And then we're going to go inward, down, and up, and down.
08:38And if you shade this in, this is the inside of his little squirrely ear.
08:44This is on some more of his facial features, and when I say facial features, I mean, let's go down
08:50here to his nose.
08:52So I'm going to just draw this grape figure.
08:56And from this grape figure, we're just going to go up on this inclination.
09:01So it's going to go up, and back in.
09:05So up, back in, right then.
09:09And then connect like this.
09:11You see, we're starting to look like a nose.
09:13And then, of course, we're going to go up, and inward, and back down.
09:19And if you fill in this part, it's the inside of his nose.
09:23Like we drew Nick from Zootopia.
09:28And this is a black nose, so I'm just going to go ahead and fill this in.
09:33All right, from down here, from his nose, we're just going to go ahead and give a little indention that
09:39we can see the other side of his nostril.
09:42And we're just going to keep this one the same.
09:45Before we do that, let's come back to his face.
09:48So we have his dimple right here.
09:51I went ahead and put that dimple on.
09:53And now what I'm going to do, from the bottom of the first circle we made, we're going to go
10:00off to the side just a bit here.
10:04So if we start curving inward towards that circle we made, now we're going to go outward just a bit.
10:10And we're just going to go and tuck in behind his long snout.
10:22Ta-da!
10:23Get rid of that guideline, finally.
10:34Now, let's come down here, make a little toothy here, a little toothy here, a little tooth here.
10:42And we have a couple baby ones.
10:44They're not too complicated.
10:45They're just little triangles protruding down from his upper lip.
10:51Now, from right here, I'm going to make, from this little tooth, what I'm going to do is I'm just
10:57going to go ahead and bring this down.
11:01Curve it inward.
11:04Now I'm going to go underneath right here, just a little off to the side.
11:08And we get a little wide and curve inward as well.
11:11And then connect the two together.
11:14We made one elephant tusk.
11:18Saber tooth, I don't know.
11:21So we've made that.
11:22Now we're just going to come over just a little bit over here, a little bit of distance, kind of
11:27like where this part meets this side.
11:32And in between the middle of them, curve inward.
11:36And this one's going to be shorter and skinnier because it's on the other side of his snout.
11:43So we make it short, make it skinnier than this side.
11:50This one's wider than this one.
11:53And since it's on the other side of his snout, if we were to shade this in, from this part
12:01right here, we're going to go ahead and give a little bit of a round shape.
12:08Which would make his shoulder.
12:11Now if we bring down this part right here, I'm just going to go ahead and bring it down.
12:21And then for this, we're going to go ahead and just make this shape for right now, which is just
12:26a circle.
12:27And that would be his hand.
12:29Then we're going to go ahead back inward.
12:34And just connect these, just mirror the side we just made.
12:39So this is like his lower part of his arm and this is his upper part of his arm.
12:46So if we make a little bit of a shape to that.
12:51And then of course, I'm just going to go ahead at the top of his shoulder right here.
12:57Yes, it is as big as his body.
13:02Curve it on downward.
13:05And it goes a little bit past his hand.
13:14And if we come inward right here.
13:27Just like that.
13:32Kind of looks like a cupcake.
13:34And then what I'm going to do is I'm going to come on top in the middle.
13:36And we're going to go ahead and give that acorn a little bit of a straw shape.
13:42So I made like a little rectangle.
13:43Go outward, outward.
13:45And close it off with a circle.
13:51There's the stem of the acorn.
13:53Now for his hand.
13:55His claws are going backwards.
13:56So what you're going to do is you're going to go inward like this.
14:02A little bit inward.
14:05Connect right here.
14:06Going this way.
14:07So it kind of looks like a bird.
14:11Another.
14:12You jump out.
14:13Going inward again.
14:15Mirror that.
14:22So I go out this way.
14:24Down.
14:27And curve this inward.
14:29Connecting.
14:40So I've made like the side of his hand right here.
14:45And if you get a little claw here.
14:47And a little claw here.
14:53There's his little claw hanging on to dear life to that acorn.
14:58Now for the shape of the acorn.
15:00We're going to bring this down just a bit past his hand.
15:06And this is the bottom of the acorn that has like that little, I don't know, the root stem.
15:11I don't know.
15:12But you just make a box and curve this upward.
15:16Fill this in.
15:18And make sure it's connected at the bottom of your acorn.
15:24And for the texture of the acorn, it looks like this.
15:28This is just on his back.
15:36That's the texture of an acorn.
15:37Now for the top of the acorn, of course, it wouldn't be like these flat, round edges like we have.
15:44It would be jagged.
15:49And this is a little rounder at the bottom.
15:52But the rest of it a little jagged.
15:57And basically,
16:02if you die in a little cross like this.
16:08And then you give it just the shapes of that.
16:13Like if you make shapes in those guidelines we just made.
16:17That is what the top of an acorn looks like.
16:29So it's like a checker flag.
16:33So it's like a checker flag.
16:52And that's the acorn.
16:58From this part right here,
17:00this is all going to stay the same.
17:02And it just leads down into his leg.
17:04That's going this way.
17:06And he's just this furry looking creature.
17:10Now for his feet.
17:12They're not as complicated.
17:14They're ugly.
17:15But still.
17:16We're going to go from this part right here.
17:18Go upward.
17:22Inward.
17:25Build off of that one.
17:29And build off of that one.
17:31And then go down and just lead into that.
17:32And now I have his ugly foot.
17:34Which has claws.
17:39Claw.
17:41It's disgusting.
17:43Okay.
17:44And then back here.
17:45At the bottom.
17:47What you're going to do is just all that you're going to change.
17:51So we're going to go inward right here.
17:53This stays the same.
17:57Give a little claw here.
18:00And a little claw here.
18:01And you just go inward like that.
18:05Claw.
18:06Claw.
18:07And this will stay the same.
18:09Except the thing is,
18:11this is hiding behind this part of his body.
18:14So there's a little bit of shadow play going on.
18:31And you're going to get rid of the guidelines here.
18:34Now he has a little bit of like some markings going on.
18:38But they're basically stripes.
18:42And they're on his butt.
18:47And they're just darker fur.
18:49He's all brown practically.
18:53And if you get rid of all the other guidelines that are connecting things.
19:05And give him, of course, once again, just like the Zootopia characters, he's a squirrel.
19:10He's still furry.
19:12But the most important thing is, his tail.
19:15Now you probably all don't have the same problem I do.
19:19But you probably know by this time that, from watching my tutorials,
19:23I always draw a little bit too big.
19:25So I'm just going to add this piece of paper off to the side.
19:27And pretend that I just need standard paper that's this size.
19:31It's not 8 by 11.
19:34So what I'm going to do for his tail.
19:37Underneath his acorn.
19:38I'm just going to go ahead.
19:40Right here, his butt, of course.
19:42That's where his tail's coming from.
19:44So this part of his butt, right here.
19:46Make a little line.
19:49What I'm going to do is, I'm just going to go out.
19:54Curve inward.
19:58Go this way.
20:00Onto my other sheet of paper.
20:06And then I'm going to start curving inward.
20:11Go down.
20:16Back onto my original piece of paper.
20:23And you can make that as sketchy as possible.
20:26Because this is his tail.
20:28And his tail is dark.
20:30So, of course, we need to give him furry furs everywhere.
20:35Because he's a squirrel.
20:37And he has fur sticking out everywhere.
20:51And then, of course, you just want to go around and you just want to give him more furry furs.
21:14Well, guys, there you go.
21:16that is how to draw Scrat from DreamWorks' Ice Age. As always, I do take suggestions for who you
21:22want to draw next, so go ahead and leave in the suggestions down below. I mean, the comments down
21:27below, your suggestions on who you want to draw next. Yeah, other than that, guys, I'll see you
21:32on Saturday. I hope you all have a wondrous week, and I hope you give Scrat a try. And hopefully
21:38go
21:38and see, maybe this is the final DreamWorks Ice Age movie. So yeah, guys, bye!
