00:01The European Commission has called an extraordinary meeting of its Oil Coordination Group
00:06to address a growing dispute between Hungary, Slovakia and Ukraine over the Drojba oil pipeline.
00:13It will take place the following Wednesday with the participation of Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia.
00:20We have called an ad-hoc oil coordination group to meet and discuss the impact of the supply disruption
00:28and possible alternatives to fuel supply.
00:31On Wednesday, Hungary and Slovakia halted diesel supplies to Ukraine
00:35after a Russian attack on the pipeline in Ukrainian territory knocked it out of service.
00:40Budapest and Bratislava, who both rely heavily on Russian crude oil transported through the pipeline,
00:46have accused Kiev of deliberately delaying repairs for political reasons.
00:51The Commission sought to distance itself from reports that it was pressing Kiev
00:56to expedite repairs to the pipeline.
00:59We are in contact with Ukrainian authorities on the timeline of repairing this pipeline.
01:09It is very, very important that this is not misinterpreted to mean that we would be exerting any kind of
01:18pressure on Ukraine.
01:20The Commission said both Hungary and Slovakia hold sufficient oil reserves.
01:25However, it expressed concern about Ukraine's broader energy situation.
01:34U.S. President Donald Trump pledged $10 billion of U.S. government funds for his new Board of Peace at
01:40its inauguration.
01:42The board was first focused on rebuilding Gaza, but has since expanded its scope.
01:46Trump did not specify what the money would be used for.
01:51The inaugural meeting, which brought together some two dozen allies from across the world in Washington,
01:57came as tensions have been escalating between the U.S. and Iran.
02:00But every dollar spent is an investment in stability and the hope of new and harmonious.
02:07It's a region that's so important, it's so vibrant, it's so incredible.
02:11The people are so incredible, but we want to have a harmonious Middle East.
02:15Trump launched the initiative after the U.S., together with Qatar and Egypt,
02:20brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in October.
02:23The initiative has drawn widespread criticism for its vague nature,
02:27including on how it would operate alongside or potentially seek to compete with existing institutions such as the United Nations.
02:35The United Nations will be, I think, is going to be much stronger.
02:40The Board of Peace is going to almost be looking over the United Nations and making sure it runs properly.
02:47The Board of Peace also focused on the launch of an international stabilization force.
02:52Several countries including Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Albania pledged to send troops as part of the force.
03:03The U.S. military will be ready for a possible attack on Iran from Saturday, senior national security officials have
03:11told President Donald Trump according to multiple U.S. media reports.
03:14Trump has not made a final decision on military action and is discussing the matter with top advisors.
03:21The arrival of aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford in the Eastern Mediterranean in the coming days will be a key
03:29factor in determining the timing of possible strikes, according to U.S. officials.
03:34Trump's advisor Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakshi for three hours in Geneva on
03:41Tuesday.
03:42Both sides said the talks made progress, but wide gaps remain.
03:47White House spokeswoman Karine Leavitt said on Wednesday there were many arguments one can make in favor of a strike
03:53against Iran, while stressing Trump prefers diplomacy.
03:57Following talks in Geneva, Iran's atomic energy chief said no country can deprive the Islamic Republic of its right to
04:04nuclear enrichment.
04:09Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office during
04:17his time as UK trade envoy.
04:19A police statement released on Thursday morning did not name the former British royal, but said searches are being carried
04:26out at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk, while a man in his 60s remains in police custody.
04:33Unmarked police cars were seen earlier on Thursday morning at Sandrinham, where he was living since leaving his home in
04:39Windsor.
04:40After the arrest, King Charles issued a statement voicing his concern over the actions of his brother.
04:46He said Buckingham Palace was ready to support the police.
04:50New revelations last week appeared to show Mountbatten-Windsor sent convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein potentially confidential documents during his
04:59time as a UK trade envoy.
05:01In October, King Charles stripped the former British prince of his royal titles.
05:05He also ordered him to vacate his residence near Windsor Castle.
05:09The decision followed years of controversy over Mountbatten-Windsor's association with Epstein.
05:20Washington could play a key role in ending Russia's war in Ukraine, Georgia's former President Salome Zorabishvili told Euronews.
05:28U.S. President Donald Trump could potentially force Russian President Vladimir Putin's hand into a peace agreement, she said.
05:35The uncertainty that Putin is probably experiencing with Trump and Trump's actions is the best ally for forcing him down
05:44to peace agreement.
05:47Maybe it's the best time that we have to see Russia having to recognize that somebody is both unpredictable and
05:57stronger than he is.
05:59Zorabishvili, who served as Georgia's president from 2018 until her disputed departure in December 2024, said Putin is never interested
06:08in peace, he has to be brought to peace by constraints.
06:11She added the war in Ukraine will end one day, but warned it was important how it comes to an
06:16end.
06:17As neighbors of Russia, all the neighbors of Russia know that Russia has been a constant invader, a constant aggressor
06:25and a constant imperialist power that doesn't know where its borders stop.
06:30Respecting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is essential, she said.
06:38The latest data from the Italian National Institute of Health provides a snapshot of the phenomenon of digital addiction among
06:45adolescents.
06:47Approximately 100,000 young people between the ages of 15 and 18 are at risk of social media addiction.
06:54Meanwhile, according to the Social Warning Association, a digital ethics movement, 77% of Italian adolescents say they're addicted to
07:03digital devices.
07:05Con e Bambini, which has funded 800 projects throughout Italy on behalf of the government's National Fund to Combat Child
07:12Educational Poverty,
07:14has been addressing this phenomenon for some time.
07:16According to a recent study, educational poverty and relationship difficulties are among the main causes of the problem.
07:45The debate on how to intervene is international in scope and is being discussed at the level of European institutions,
07:52with France and Italy considering a law to ban the use of social media platforms by children under the age
07:59of 15.
08:00A similar initiative is also underway in Spain.
08:03The legislation is necessary, but not enough, because it can go to control and protect and protect and protect,
08:15but it is not enough to change and improve the situation, especially cultural, of our families and of our children.
08:22The goal is educative.
08:23It is not enough to viet it.
08:24It is not enough to focus on digital closing, but on opening life.
08:32It is necessary to connect the children to the territory.
08:34According to a survey conducted by Con e Bambini, 83% of Italian adults are concerned about teenagers' addiction to
08:42the internet, smartphones and tablets.
08:45We are worried, but we don't know what to do, because it is not easy to remove the phone, we
08:51are not able to remove it.
08:53We young people inform us, for example, we read a lot of newspapers, the news pass a lot through social
08:59media,
08:59so I often use the phone very often.
09:02I believe that today we can't prevent the social media, because the world is going forward and is a hyper
09:07-technical world
09:08and we should simply teach the new generations how to connect ourselves in a way.
09:13I will intervene on prevention rather than on the repression of the phenomenon.
09:27The Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin falls silent as the trailer for the documentary film Traces Plays.
09:34The film tells the story of six women who survived Russian captivity.
09:39They report on torture and sexual violence.
09:43The protagonists are also present at the event in Berlin.
09:46One of them is Irina.
09:48She talks about imprisonment, abuse and trying to preserve her dignity.
10:06The film does not show explicit depictions of violence.
10:11Instead, the women return to places from their past, to houses that are partly destroyed,
10:16to walls with bullet holes, to devastated gardens.
10:19There they tell their stories.
10:22Director Alisa Kovalenko deliberately chose this form.
10:25And when I was in Kherson Ridge, it was after the occupation,
10:30and I also saw the traces of this war, traces of Russian aggression everywhere.
10:36It was like a minefield, burning field, like destroyed houses, but also wounded people.
10:44But there are some wounds which were, like we can see, visible and invisible.
10:49And I started to think about how we can build this actually co-existence of these visual traces and invisible
10:58traces.
11:00On the sidelines of the Berlinale, several civil society representatives at the embassy are supporting the women's initiative called SEMA,
11:08which fights against sexual violence as a weapon of war and supports those affected.
11:14The Ukrainians today can be a good example of how society works, how democracy is protected,
11:27and what are the European values that are based on our consciousness in Europe, what they actually mean.
11:37Despite the gravity of the reports, there is also a sense of solidarity.
11:40The women see their voices as a sword against the violent acts of Russian soldiers.
