00:00I'll be brief and to the point.
00:02We want to talk a little bit about the strategic vision of this organization
00:05and begin doing so by first acknowledging that we are here today
00:08because the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump,
00:12has both an ability and a willingness to use the power of his office
00:15to think outside the box.
00:17And that's why we're here today.
00:18This was a very unique crisis in Gaza,
00:21one that the existing international institutions could not solve or figure out.
00:25It needed a very specific type solution
00:28that required the partnership of all the nations that are here,
00:30including those that are here on an observer status.
00:33And we appreciate you coming today and being a part of this as well.
00:36And that's the point I want to drive home today.
00:38And soon you'll hear from Steve and Jared,
00:40who, by the way, deserve an incredible amount of credit
00:42for pulling this together and working countless hours
00:45and traveling all over the world.
00:46They truly deserve our appreciation and thanks for the work they've put in
00:49under the leadership of President Trump to make this possible.
00:52This Gaza situation was impossible to solve under orthodoxy,
00:56under existing structures.
00:58And so what we did is they went to the U.N.
01:00And they got the U.N.'s approval to put this group together
01:02and bring these nations together
01:04to come up with a very specific solution,
01:07solutions to a very unique and specific problem.
01:09We have a long ways to go.
01:11There's a lot of work that remains.
01:12It will require the contribution
01:13of every nation state represented here today.
01:16And we thank you for being a part of it.
01:18And I hope that this,
01:19we hope that this can serve as a model
01:20for other complex and difficult situations
01:24so they can be solved in the same way.
01:25But right now the focus is on this one.
01:27We have to get this right.
01:29There is no plan B for Gaza.
01:30Plan B is going back to war.
01:32No one here wants that.
01:34Plan A, the only path forward,
01:36is one that rebuilds Gaza
01:37in a way of enduring and sustainable peace
01:39where everyone can live there side by side with one another
01:42and never worry again about returning to conflict,
01:45to war, to human suffering and to destruction.
01:48And again, Mr. President,
01:49thank you for having the vision and the courage
01:51to pursue something that has never been done before.
01:53And we're not done yet.
01:54And thank you to Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner
01:57for the time and the work they've put into this.
01:59And thank you on behalf of the State Department
02:01and the U.S. government
02:02to all of the nations that are here.
02:04Every one of you is indispensable,
02:05including our observer partners,
02:07who we hope can find your way to join us at some point
02:10as officially part of this.
02:11But we are grateful for the fact you're here today
02:13and the contributions you've made already.
