00:00Sometimes, a film trailer does more than promote a movie as it sparks a political debate and
00:06that's exactly what has happened after the trailer launch of The Kerala Story 2.
00:10Within the hours of its release online, the sequel found itself at the center of criticism,
00:16including a sharp response from Kerala Chief Minister Pinaray Vijayan. The sequel revisits
00:22themes of religious conversion and extremism. The first installment titled The Kerala Story,
00:28which was released three years back, had already faced protests and controversy upon its release.
00:35Now, the sequel's trailer has once again triggered political reactions in the state.
00:40Reacting to the trailer, CM Vijayan alleged that the film was weighed within an intent to spread
00:45hatred against the state and undermine its secular tradition. As per the reports in the Indian Express,
00:52he said, the release of a second part of the Kerala story, which was made with the agenda of
00:57spreading hatred against Kerala and insulting our secular traditions, should be seen seriously.
01:04The Chief Minister further stated that the first movie was filled with lies,
01:08hate and anti-Kerala propaganda and produced with communal motives,
01:13and claimed that people in the state had rejected it.
01:17He also questioned how poisonous works produced to spread division and hatred in society were allowed
01:22to be screened, while other films faced restrictions. Calling the sequel a threat to secularism,
01:29he urged people to stay alert. In his detailed statement stated by India.com, Vijayan said,
01:35they are spreading false propaganda by portraying even marriages conducted with mutual consent
01:40as an example of communalism and forced religious conversion. He added that such forces are hostile
01:47towards Kerala, describing the state as one without communal rights and where people of different
01:53religions live together with respect. According to him, attempts to portray Kerala as center of
02:00terrorism must be rejected. It is the responsibility of each one of us to ensure that Kerala's secular
02:06foundation is not undermined by false propaganda and to reject it by upholding the values of secularism and
02:14brotherhood, he said. The first film was rejected by Suteep Dosen and starred Adar Sharma. Despite the bans
02:21and protests, it performed strongly at the box office. The Kerala Story 2 is directed by Kamakshya Narayan Singh
02:28and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, which is scheduled to release on February 27, 2026.
02:44So I hope you will live in October 29, 216-296-2014.
02:45I hope you will see.
02:46It's perfect.
