Moscow was hit by one of its heaviest snowfalls on record on Thursday (Feb 19), disrupting flights, worsening traffic, and forcing pedestrians to wade through snow-covered sidewalks.

00:14could amount to nearly two-thirds of the city's average February total,
00:19marking one of the most intense snowstorms of the season.
00:22Despite the severe conditions, Moscow's airports remained operational,
00:26although at least 19 flights were cancelled and more than 100 others were delayed.
00:32Local media and meteorologists have dubbed the snowstorm WALL-E after the 2008 Disney or Pixar film

00:45The extreme weather underscores a harsh winter in the Russian capital,
00:49with repeated heavy snowfalls and temperatures plunging to as low as minus 25 degrees Celsius.
00:55This marks a stark contrast to the previous winter, which was among the warmest on record.
