02:08From ABC News World Headquarters in New York, this is World News Tonight with David Muir.
02:16Good evening.
02:17We begin tonight with breaking news and the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
02:20The sheriff tonight revealing DNA evidence recovered from a glove about two miles from Nancy Guthrie's home
02:25does not match anyone in the federal criminal database.
02:28But tonight, they are still looking at DNA found at Nancy Guthrie's home.
02:32That was not Nancy Guthrie's DNA or anyone in the family.
02:35And the sheriff now suggesting that with that DNA found at the home,
02:38they will now go beyond the criminal database and to some of the family genealogy DNA collected across this country.
02:45Now, tonight, the other key part of this investigation remains the video at that front door.
02:48Law enforcement sources now telling ABC News that investigators are now trying to identify the gun and holster.
02:54They already know the backpack and perhaps some of the clothing, trying to see if the man bought any of
02:59it at Walmart.
02:59And the FBI also now canvassing gun shops in the Tucson area, hoping to find where the gun and holster
03:05were sold.
03:06And the search for any signal from Nancy Guthrie's pacemaker.
03:09We have learned tonight authorities have been using technology carried in drones overhead,
03:13capable of locating any possible signal from Nancy Guthrie's pacemaker, but nothing so far.
03:19ABC's chief investigative correspondent, Aaron Katursky, leading us off from Tucson again tonight.
03:24Tonight, 16 days into the search for Nancy Guthrie, DNA found on a glove two miles from her home is
03:31not a match.
03:32Authorities confirming tonight the DNA lifted from that glove did not match any of the 22 million samples,
03:38mostly from criminals, in the FBI's national database.
03:41And law enforcement sources tell ABC News the DNA sample also did not match DNA found on Nancy Guthrie's property,
03:48which was not hers or anyone in her family.
03:50That DNA is still undergoing analysis.
03:53As of tonight, DNA on the glove is getting investigators nowhere.
03:57The glove has always been a long shot in my view.
03:59But having said that, it's another piece of potential evidence that can only become relevant,
04:06basically, if and when you develop a viable suspect.
04:10Authorities continue to test that unknown DNA found at the property.
04:14And tonight, the sheriff in the case is suggesting they'll go beyond the criminal database and look at family genealogy
04:20that's been cataloged all over the country,
04:23saying, we believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect.
04:27And there are other resources, like private genealogical companies, that we will look into.
04:32Investigators also remain focused on the best evidence they have so far,
04:35the video retrieved from Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera of the masked suspect at the front door armed with a pistol.
04:42The FBI has been visiting gun shops all over Tucson.
04:45The owner of this one told us the investigators were in the other day asking if there were any suspicious
04:49customers
04:49or sales of a holster that looked like the one on Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera video.
04:54The holster, the mask, the jacket.
04:57The sheriff says those items, like this Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack, may have been purchased at Walmart.
05:03Authorities say they're working with Walmart to see if any of their cameras or receipts could lead to anyone of
05:08interest.
05:08It could be a lead to Walmart. It could be a lead to a gun shop. It could be a
05:14lead on anything, DNA, whatever. They chase it down.
05:17It was 2.28 that Sunday morning when investigators say Nancy Guthrie's pacemaker app disconnected from her phone,
05:23which was left behind at the house.
05:25Tonight, we've learned for days, searchers have been using technology called Blue Fly in drones
05:30that can help detect any possible signals from her pacemaker.
05:34That technology is also in helicopters and carried by investigators on foot.
05:38So far, no signs of the pacemaker.
05:41And while authorities have presented no new evidence that Nancy Guthrie was targeted because of her high-profile daughter
05:47or for any other reason, the sheriff telling Fox News it remains his hunch she was in some way targeted,
05:53that this wasn't random.
05:55I believe it was a kidnapping.
05:56Targeted kidnapping.
05:57Yes, I believe whoever did that knew what they were up to.
06:00So do you believe...
06:01Knew who they were after.
06:01And with authorities now formally clearing Nancy Guthrie's family, her children, and their spouses
06:07of any involvement in her disappearance, the sheriff tonight is speaking of the toll
06:11misinformation and speculation has taken on the Guthrie's.
06:15That family is suffering.
06:17They are hurting.
06:18And there's no justification for saying some of the things that were said out there in the media
06:24and social media.
06:25Just none.
06:26And I'm not going to tolerate it.
06:27Right now, David, all investigators really seem to have is the DNA sample found here at
06:32Nancy Guthrie's property and the doorbell camera video of the suspect.
06:36The authorities are trying to identify everything the man has seen wearing in that video and
06:42trace where he bought it.
06:43David?
06:44Aaron Katursky leading us off in Tucson tonight.
06:46Aaron, thank you.
06:47Also breaking tonight, the tense scene at the U.S. Capitol.
06:50A man wearing a tactical vest, police say armed with a shotgun, racing toward the Capitol.
06:55Officers then intercepting him.
06:57And what authorities say they then found inside his SUV.
07:00Here's Jay O'Brien.
07:02Tonight, the alarming scene just steps away from the Capitol.
07:06Authorities say around 1230 p.m. with tourists looking on, an 18-year-old man wearing a tactical
07:11vest and wielding a loaded shotgun raced toward the building.
07:14Capitol police immediately drawing their weapons and the man surrendering without firing a shot.
07:19Who knows what could have happened if we wouldn't have had officers here standing guard like they
07:24do every single day.
07:26And tonight, the investigation.
07:27Police shutting down blocks around the Capitol and searching and towing a car away.
07:33And tonight, police identifying that 18-year-old suspect as Carter Camacho of Smyrna, Georgia.
07:39They say he was armed with multiple rounds of ammunition and arrived in a white Mercedes SUV.
07:44And inside that car, investigators say they found a Kevlar helmet and a gas mask.
07:49Have you found anything in the car or anything else that indicates the suspect's motive?
07:54That investigation is ongoing.
07:56Does the motive appear to be to hurt the public or members of Congress?
08:00That's ongoing.
08:02And David, tonight, Capitol police say this kind of harrowing incident is something they trained for,
08:06including in an exercise just months ago.
08:08And we should note, as far as we know, no lawmakers were inside that building.
08:11The Congress is on recess this week, David.
08:14The unnerving scene of the Capitol today.
08:15Jay O'Brien, thank you.
08:17Tonight, dangerous weather triggering a deadly pileup on I-25 in Colorado.
08:20Take a look.
08:21The 30-vehicle pileup, including six tractor trailers, strong winds, poor visibility.
08:26Multiple people were killed.
08:27More than two dozen hurt.
08:29Tonight, millions are now under snow, high wind, and fire alerts across several states at this hour.
08:34The west getting hit over and over again.
08:36And now the models tonight that show a possible snowstorm in the northeast again this weekend.
08:41It's still early on that.
08:43Lee Goldberg will sort through it all with the forecast.
08:45And here's Trevor Ault.
08:47Tonight, a staggering, deadly pileup on the Colorado interstate.
08:51More than 30 vehicles colliding on I-25 south of Pueblo, including six semis.
08:57Officials say there were brownout conditions created by blowing dirt and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
09:04This was one of those storms that came through and the wind picked up very quickly.
09:09Visibility near zero.
09:11Four people killed.
09:12More than two dozen taken to the hospital.
09:14Tonight, that intense weather is sweeping across the plains.
09:18With red flag and high wind warnings, this 15,000-acre fire burning on the Oklahoma panhandle.
09:24And watch as powerful wind gusts topple this semi on Highway 87 north of Amarillo, Texas.
09:30Storm chasers racing to check on the driver, helping him out of the cab.
09:33They tell us that driver is okay.
09:36Overnight, this same system slams southern California with heavy rain across the L.A. area,
09:41dumping feet of snow in the Sierras, but travel there nearly impossible.
09:45And tonight, first responders in northern California are racing to locate a group of backcountry skiers
09:51caught in an avalanche northwest of Lake Tahoe.
09:55David, several people in that Colorado pileup are now in serious condition.
09:58And here in southern California, we're expecting more storms through the week with more rain coming tonight.
10:04David.
10:04The picture's just unbelievable tonight.
10:06Trevor Rall, our thanks to you.
10:07Let's get right to WABC chief meteorologist Lee Goldberg taking us through it all tonight.
10:11Hailey.
10:13Hey, David.
10:14Boy, these high winds are battering the central U.S. as we go through tonight.
10:17We're talking wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour from Wyoming to Texas causing critical fire danger.
10:23It'll be a rough night.
10:24The wind will ease a little bit tomorrow.
10:25It will not ease in places like Montana over to parts of Minnesota and Michigan.
10:30Blizzard warnings, winter storm warnings for 6 to 12 inches of snow and high winds.
10:33Those alerts do extend into parts of New York and into Massachusetts for a few inches from Syracuse to about
10:38Worcester.
10:39We're still going with more rounds of rain in southern California, heavy over the next couple of days, mountain snow
10:44up to 8 feet in the Sierra, more in the Rockies as well.
10:47And some of that Pacific energy will be building blocks for an East Coast storm coming up this weekend.
10:52Now, a lot of this energy is still over the ocean.
10:54The storm track still to be determined.
10:56A major snowstorm, not a lock yet on the East Coast.
10:59David.
10:59We'll track that with you as well over the next couple of nights.
11:02Lee, thank you.
11:02We turned out of the horror at that ice rink in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
11:06Chilling new video tonight showing the moment those first shots were fired, players on the ice and fans racing for
11:12cover.
11:12Authorities tonight now say it was a man who killed his ex-wife and adult son and critically wounded two
11:18other members of his family.
11:19Here's Stephanie Ramos.
11:23Tonight, authorities in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, say this video is evidence of a targeted attack.
11:29And the suspect who opened fire at this youth hockey game, 56-year-old Robert Dorgan, killed members of his
11:35own family.
11:36One of the victims was his ex-wife, Rhonda Dorgan, and also his son, adult son Aiden Dorgan.
11:43They say Dorgan also shot and wounded two other relatives who were in the stands.
11:48Police looking at this video that appears to show a man in a white hat pulling a gun, moving through
11:53the crowd, then a struggle, and another man appears to grab the suspect.
11:58Authorities crediting those brave bystanders who grabbed Dorgan, preventing more bloodshed.
12:03One of them, Michael Black, telling ABC's Boston station WCVB when he realized what was happening, he told his wife
12:11to run.
12:11I stood on the bleachers and I saw the gun and just, you know, just grabbed, went for the gun,
12:17and I got my hand caught.
12:19He was trying to pull the trigger, he couldn't fire it.
12:22At that time, the suspect did reach for a second firearm, and he did inflict a self-inflicted gunshot wound,
12:28which is what he succumbed to on scene.
12:30My father was a shooter.
12:31After the shooting, a woman seen leaving the Pawtucket police station, telling our Boston affiliate WCVB she's the suspect's daughter.
12:39Any idea why he would have done this?
12:42He's sick. He's very sick.
12:44Authorities say Dorgan also goes by Roberta Esposito and had attended games in the past without any incidents.
12:50They're still searching for a motive.
12:52David, those two other relatives who were shot are still in critical condition.
