00:00Good evening, everyone.
00:02I hope you're enjoying your first day here at Viva Tech.
00:05A lot of energy, I would say.
00:07I'm impressed, honestly, by the amount of innovation and startups.
00:10And I know this is the last session of the day,
00:13so I promise you it's going to be short and sweet.
00:15And hopefully, you will come out of it benefiting something
00:19or building a connection.
00:21So, my name is Mohamed Jalali.
00:23I'm managing the Saudi Accelerated Innovation Lab in Saudi Aramco.
00:27So, it's a platform where ideas transform into value
00:31through an ecosystem that is continuously growing.
00:35But before I go into that,
00:37let me give you a brief history of the innovation in our company.
00:41So, since the beginning, since the innovators thought
00:44that let's explore for oil in that desert,
00:48and since the collaboration started with global partners around the world
00:52and the discovery of oil,
00:54Aramco had always been a pioneer in adopting digital innovation.
00:59So, within our region,
01:01Saudi Aramco had launched the first radio station.
01:04A private company that is semi-governmental,
01:07but looking for oil,
01:09launches a radio network, basically.
01:13The idea was to foster whatever innovation was there.
01:17So, I would say it's in Aramco's DNA.
01:20A little later, we launched the first TV station.
01:24So, Aramco, again, an oil company had a TV station
01:27to broadcast, to upskill people,
01:30to bring in, to connect to the West,
01:32to connect to the East,
01:33to basically build a platform of people
01:36who know what's going on in the world.
01:38And remember the first picture,
01:40this wasn't too far from that.
01:43Fast forward to the 80s,
01:45where computing started growing,
01:47Saudi Aramco had deployed
01:49the first high-performance computing platform
01:52for enhancing the way
01:55we explore our reservoirs for oil
01:58to do better simulations.
02:01Again, fast forward to 2009,
02:03we deployed one of the top 50 supercomputers around the world
02:07also to enhance our operations
02:10and the way we do simulation for our reservoirs.
02:15Fast forward to 2013,
02:18we built one of the largest Tier 4 data centers
02:21in the Middle East.
02:236,000 square feet of data hole
02:25and 23,000 square meters
02:29of space infrastructure
02:32that supports that white space for data holes
02:35and for high-performance computing
02:37and for leveraging computing systems
02:39that are unique to our operations.
02:42Again, fast forward to 2023,
02:44we launched Aramco Digital,
02:47a fully-owned subsidiary
02:48that takes whatever digital successes
02:50we have in Saudi Aramco
02:52to the global market.
02:54All of this is leading me
02:56toward the innovation platform
02:58that I'm going to talk to you about,
03:00but something interesting
03:01is happening in parallel as well.
03:03We're not only an innovative company,
03:06but the country itself
03:09is flourishing with innovation.
03:11So over the last,
03:12I would say,
03:13six years,
03:14we raised 19 ranks
03:16in the Global Innovation Index
03:18to be the 47th
03:20from being 66th previously.
03:23We also are announcing
03:25a lot of investments
03:26in technology and startups.
03:28One of the recent
03:29announced investments
03:31by the government
03:31was the $6.4 billion
03:33announced in LEAP 2022
03:36for technology and startups
03:39and innovation.
03:41All of this momentum
03:43had made us realize
03:44that there is a case
03:46for an innovation platform.
03:47We had three main pillars,
03:50I would say,
03:51of this case.
03:52The first pillar
03:53is that we had spent
03:54billions of dollars,
03:56whether in the company
03:57or in the country,
03:59on innovation and R&D,
04:01and had generated
04:01a wealth of IPs and patents.
04:04The active patents
04:05that we currently have
04:06with our U.S. Patent Office
04:08that are patented globally
04:09are around 6,000,
04:12let alone all the other patents
04:13that were granted
04:14over the years and years
04:15of innovation operations.
04:17We had also launched
04:19many global initiatives
04:21for AI.
04:22We launched
04:23the Global AI Corridor
04:24where we started
04:25bringing AI companies
04:27from around the world
04:28to localize to the kingdom.
04:29We announced
04:31the Quantum Valley.
04:32We announced
04:32the Metaverse Oasis.
04:35We also had an issue
04:38where there wasn't
04:39a clear ambassador
04:40for the country
04:41for innovation and startups.
04:44So all of this
04:45had made something
04:46a light bulb light
04:48in our minds.
04:50In parallel,
04:51we were going through
04:52a project
04:54that was called
04:54the IT Lab of Excellence
04:55at the time.
04:56The idea of that project
04:58was to consolidate
04:59the IT infrastructure,
05:01quality assurance,
05:01and quality control platforms
05:03into one location
05:04to leverage economies of scale,
05:07to test our servers better,
05:08to test our communication
05:09equipment better.
05:11But we realized
05:12that by having
05:13a platform
05:14for testing,
05:15a sandbox basically,
05:17a modular data center
05:18for testing,
05:20it could be
05:21the same recipe
05:21for building an innovation
05:23or a fail-fast lab
05:25where we can try out
05:26new things
05:26and continue building
05:28on our legacy
05:29and DNA for innovation.
05:30So we thought
05:31let's add a small component
05:33within that lab
05:34that focuses
05:35on technology research,
05:36that focuses on
05:37small incubation
05:39of use cases,
05:40and we launched
05:41the IT Lab of Excellence
05:42in late 2022.
05:45Very quickly,
05:46we realized
05:47that we were up
05:49to finding a gold mine.
05:51It was something
05:52beyond just
05:53a lab for testing.
05:55It was really
05:56a platform
05:56where we could pilot
05:57different use cases,
05:59try out different things,
06:00fail fast,
06:02whatever succeeds,
06:03adopt it quickly
06:03and scale it up
06:04in the business.
06:05We started focusing
06:06on incubating
06:08different ideas,
06:09so we would bring innovators
06:10from around the company
06:11to stay in that facility,
06:14work with a cross-functional team
06:15on a specific
06:16project-based incubation.
06:18We started also
06:19activating those
06:21global initiatives
06:21I told you about before,
06:23the AI Corridor,
06:24the Quantum Valley,
06:25all with the idea
06:27that we have a platform,
06:28we have a space
06:29for innovation,
06:30let's do more and more
06:31testing,
06:31more and more failing fast,
06:33more and more scaling up.
06:36Towards the end
06:37of 2023,
06:39we started realizing,
06:41especially with the amount
06:43of visits
06:43that we were getting
06:44from country representatives,
06:46from country officials,
06:47that Aramco
06:48is a private company
06:50and innovation
06:51and innovation
06:51cannot be done
06:51in silo.
06:52So we quickly
06:53repurposed
06:54to what is announced
06:56at the Saudi
06:56Accelerated Innovation Lab.
06:58What changed
06:59with the Saudi
07:00Accelerated Innovation Lab
07:02was that it wasn't
07:03Saudi Aramco anymore,
07:05it was the whole country,
07:07it was the representative
07:08digital ecosystem
07:09of the country,
07:10it was the MOUs
07:12and partnerships
07:12that we signed
07:13with National Industrial
07:15Development and Logistics
07:16Programme,
07:17for example,
07:18with King Abdulaziz,
07:19City of Science
07:20and Technology,
07:21which is the house
07:21of R&D in Saudi Arabia
07:23with more than 3,000
07:25PhD holders
07:26that are focused
07:27on technology research.
07:29We signed MOUs
07:30with the Research,
07:31Development,
07:31and Innovation Authority
07:32just so we can pivot
07:34our efforts
07:36to what really matters.
07:37and we launched
07:38the Saudi Accelerated
07:39Innovation Lab
07:40in March 2024
07:42and it is as such
07:44until this moment.
07:46So basically,
07:47if you remember
07:47the three pillars,
07:48we realized that
07:49SAIL could become
07:50the place
07:52where market-driven
07:53R&D
07:54is focused on.
07:56So it's not about
07:57making more R&D
07:58and generating IPs
07:59and patents,
08:00but they all should be
08:01anchored toward
08:02a specific business problem.
08:04We realized that
08:06by building that platform,
08:07we have a way
08:08to bring companies together
08:09to work on
08:10specific technology streams,
08:13AI,
08:13Quantum,
08:14Blockchain,
08:15Metaverse,
08:165G,
08:16you name it.
08:17And we tried
08:18to go out
08:20of our offices
08:21and connect with people
08:23like in this event
08:24so we can bring innovation
08:25and become ambassadors
08:26for innovation
08:27to the outside world.
08:31So the SAIL North Star
08:33started materializing.
08:35We wanted to become
08:36an innovation
08:37orchestrator
08:38or activator
08:39that helps
08:40scaling
08:41digital solutions
08:42in the company.
08:43So whatever we test,
08:45we want to scale it
08:46very quickly.
08:46We wanted to come up
08:48with new digital solutions
08:49and breakthrough IPs.
08:51We wanted also
08:52to bring in
08:53technology innovators
08:54to localize
08:55to the company.
08:56And we wanted
08:57to upskill
08:58our people
08:58within the company.
08:59this was done
09:02basically not only
09:04for the value
09:05of the company itself
09:07but also
09:08to support
09:09our national development.
09:11So we saw values
09:12for the company
09:13and for the nation.
09:14And here are some.
09:15So we wanted
09:16to have an end-to-end
09:17digital innovation
09:18ecosystem for Aramco.
09:19We wanted to raise
09:21our global ranking
09:22in innovation
09:23and not just
09:23in terms of the numbers
09:25but really in terms
09:26of activating
09:27that innovation.
09:28We wanted to diversify
09:29the economy
09:30which is something
09:32a part of a grander
09:34vision of Vision 2030.
09:35I'm sure you all
09:37had heard about it.
09:38And we wanted really
09:39to localize
09:41critical digital
09:42technologies
09:43within the kingdom.
09:45And that's happening
09:46through partnerships
09:47such as our partnership
09:48with Pascal,
09:49the French company
09:50for building
09:51the first quantum computer
09:53in Saudi Arabia
09:54which will be
09:55launched very soon
09:56insha'Allah.
09:58The way SAIL works,
10:00it's very simple.
10:01We have a black box
10:03in the middle
10:03that I will dig into
10:04in a little bit.
10:05But really it has
10:06inputs and outputs.
10:08The inputs that we have
10:09can be summarized
10:10into challenges
10:11and opportunities.
10:13So we don't start anything
10:14unless we have
10:15a business challenge
10:17which Aramco
10:18has a huge market
10:20intelligence on
10:20given our 90 years
10:22of operations.
10:23And as I showed you
10:24some of the examples
10:25Aramco is not
10:26just an oil and gas
10:27company.
10:27We run our own
10:28aviation fleet,
10:30we run our own
10:30transportation,
10:31we have our own
10:32communities.
10:34So we have visibility
10:35on what type of
10:36challenges could be
10:37affecting different
10:38sectors of the industry.
10:41And also some of
10:42the opportunities
10:42that are being created
10:44by the advancements
10:45in technology.
10:46So we take in those
10:47as our challenges
10:48and opportunities,
10:49put them through
10:50the sale engine
10:51and come up with
10:52IPs, products,
10:54new ventures
10:55and startups
10:55and build consortiums
10:58that I will show
10:58some examples of
10:59shortly.
11:01So what's in this
11:01black box?
11:02I don't want you to
11:05be overwhelmed
11:06with this graph
11:07but I really want you
11:08to think about
11:09the gear in the middle
11:10which we realized
11:12after our trials
11:13and error
11:14that we have to
11:16strengthen six
11:16main capabilities
11:18within sale.
11:19Those six capabilities
11:21start from receiving
11:23a technology opportunity
11:24as I mentioned
11:25or an industrial challenge.
11:27Put it through
11:28our R&D.
11:30The R&D will do
11:31the required
11:31design thinking,
11:33ideation,
11:34sometimes it's
11:34a longer term research
11:35until a really good idea
11:37of a solution
11:38comes out
11:39or an IP
11:40or a patent.
11:41We move it
11:41to our second capability
11:43which is the
11:44product's development,
11:45the factory.
11:46This IP
11:47is taken
11:47within our lab,
11:49the prototype
11:49developed
11:50as a proof of concept,
11:52we develop it
11:53as a minimal viable product
11:54and now
11:55through our partnerships
11:56we develop it
11:57as a fully fledged product
11:58that we commercialize
12:00through our
12:01commercialization arms
12:02like Aramco Digital.
12:03But we don't only
12:04do that,
12:05sometimes we take it
12:06to our third capability
12:08where a product
12:09is really strong
12:10to become
12:11its own startup.
12:12So we launch it
12:14as its own subsidiary
12:15and we are working
12:16on a few success stories
12:18in that regard.
12:19Now we have developed
12:21IPs
12:21or patents
12:22in the first capability,
12:24the second capability
12:25came up with products,
12:26the third capability
12:27launched startups
12:28so we're really
12:30creating a recipe
12:31for a really nice
12:32investment marketplace.
12:34so investors
12:35and VCs
12:36from the nation,
12:38from the region,
12:39from the world
12:40can come
12:40and invest
12:41in these assets
12:43that we are producing
12:44through this
12:44market-driven
12:46sustainable innovation.
12:47So these are the four
12:48core capabilities
12:50of sale
12:50but we always
12:51keep our minds
12:53on the upskilling part,
12:55the sharpening
12:56of our saw.
12:57How can our innovators
12:58embed more innovation
13:00and more technology
13:01in the ideas
13:02that they are
13:02coming up with?
13:03So we have launched
13:04also an academic component
13:07as one of our pillars
13:08and we realized
13:10that we are learning
13:11something new.
13:12We are learning
13:12an industry
13:13that is not very mature
13:15in that region
13:16which is developing
13:17new products,
13:18developing new ventures
13:20or building ventures
13:21and innovation
13:22and design thinking.
13:23So we started becoming
13:24consulting entities
13:25not only for
13:27revenue generation
13:28but really for
13:29upskilling
13:30the whole ecosystem
13:31because what we realize
13:32is none of these
13:34capabilities can be
13:35done alone.
13:36So sale
13:37is about orchestrating
13:39these capabilities
13:40through many partnerships.
13:42So we have partnerships
13:43with many R&D houses
13:44from universities
13:45to national
13:47and private sector
13:48research organizations.
13:50For factory
13:51we have a wealth
13:52of partners
13:53who are helping us
13:54partner
13:55in developing
13:56new products
13:56and solutions
13:57and the same
13:58goals for the academy
13:59and so on.
14:01Basically
14:02to sum up
14:03the process
14:03we find the opportunity
14:05based on a
14:05market driven
14:06problem
14:08to ensure
14:08that we have
14:09a client zero
14:10before we actually
14:11go and start
14:12developing our innovation.
14:13We put it through
14:14the innovation activities
14:15or orchestration
14:16we pilot it
14:17we demo it
14:18we productize it
14:20we scale it up
14:21and iteratively
14:22improve it.
14:23Now some of the
14:25success stories
14:26that came out
14:27of that engine
14:28we developed
14:29our in-house
14:30what we call
14:31Aramco Sara
14:32Sara is
14:33a common name
14:35actually everywhere.
14:36So basically
14:37but it stands
14:37for the Saudi
14:38Aramco Robotics
14:39Assistant.
14:40It's basically
14:41an AI assistant
14:42tool that takes
14:43AI beyond
14:44just the
14:45desktop
14:46or beyond
14:47the phone
14:47to be a
14:48standalone device
14:49that we can place
14:50in any
14:50industrial facility
14:52it could be
14:53in a switchgear room
14:54telling people
14:55how they can
14:55perform their job
14:57within that room
14:58it could be
14:59in an executive
15:00office
15:01helping him
15:02do basically
15:04his day-to-day
15:05business
15:06it could be
15:06with him in the car
15:07replying to his
15:09emails
15:09so basically
15:10it's a platform
15:11that takes AI
15:12to the device
15:13that sounds
15:15very similar
15:15to some of the
15:16available off-the-shelf
15:17devices
15:17but what's really
15:18special about this
15:19is that it connects
15:20to your own
15:21industrial
15:22large language
15:24model that is
15:25hosted on-prem
15:26so you would be
15:27interacting with
15:28that device
15:28through a very
15:29high secure
15:30kind of protocols
15:31and mechanism
15:32and all your
15:33interaction will be
15:34kept within
15:34the company
15:37another device
15:38that we have
15:39developed and
15:40patented
15:40is our
15:41portable data guard
15:42it's basically
15:43a device
15:43that solved
15:44a problem
15:46that we used
15:46to have
15:47where I'm sure
15:48if any of you
15:49are running
15:49IT infrastructures
15:50you realize
15:51that returning
15:52your critical
15:53tier 1 systems
15:54from tapes
15:55which is the
15:56normal way
15:57takes a little
15:58while
15:59so this
16:00and Aramco
16:00of course
16:01as an oil
16:01largest oil
16:02company in the
16:03world
16:03cannot afford
16:04the time
16:05to return
16:06its critical
16:06system
16:07so we invented
16:08a device
16:09that is
16:10that uses
16:11a 10 gigabyte
16:12bus per second
16:13to back up
16:14your data
16:14at once
16:15and then you
16:16take it into
16:16a vaulted room
16:17a safe location
16:18where it
16:19backs up
16:20the delta
16:21that happens
16:21every day
16:22wirelessly
16:22and if
16:24god forbid
16:24any disaster
16:25happens
16:26you take
16:27that suitcase
16:27which was
16:28designed
16:28to fit
16:29in a cabin
16:30within a plane
16:31and take it
16:32to any
16:32co-location
16:33facility
16:33put that
16:3410 gigabyte
16:34per second
16:35bus again
16:36and return
16:37to your business
16:38at least
16:38for the tier 1
16:39critical system
16:40within a day
16:41or two
16:41versus 20
16:42to 30 days
16:45not only
16:46do we develop
16:47products
16:47as I mentioned
16:48we also
16:49build
16:49consortiums
16:50that focus
16:51around a certain
16:52technology
16:52so we built
16:53the national
16:54quantum value
16:55consortium
16:55which is
16:56focusing on
16:57making Saudi
16:58Arabia
16:59one of the
16:59top countries
17:00in the innovation
17:01we believe
17:02we had missed
17:02on a few
17:03revolutions
17:04industrial revolutions
17:05and we definitely
17:06want to capture
17:07the value
17:08of the quantum
17:08revolution
17:09and we believe
17:10we are best
17:11placed to do so
17:12because as
17:14you have seen
17:14we are a heavy
17:16user of high
17:17performance
17:17computing
17:18and what
17:18quantum will do
17:19is will offer
17:20more and more
17:21and more
17:21computing
17:22and it is
17:23at a stage
17:24where it's
17:25capital intensive
17:26and our country
17:27has the appetite
17:28to invest
17:29in such things
17:30so we believe
17:31we are best
17:32placed to do
17:33something and
17:34become one of
17:34the top countries
17:35in quantum
17:37we have partnered
17:38with several
17:39companies
17:39we are building
17:40so many use
17:41cases
17:41trying them out
17:42from quantum
17:43safe use
17:44cases
17:44like quantum
17:45key distribution
17:46safe quantum
17:47communication
17:48to quantum
17:49computing
17:50partnerships
17:51with companies
17:52like Pascal
17:52and Top Innovators
17:53we are also
17:54partnering with
17:55the World Economic
17:55Forum
17:56on building
17:57a quantum
17:58economy blueprint
17:59and Saudi Arabia
18:00will be one
18:01of the first
18:02countries
18:02who deploy
18:03that blueprint
18:04one of that
18:06one of the
18:07things that came
18:08out of this
18:08was the uplink
18:09challenge
18:10for quantum
18:11so we
18:11launched a challenge
18:13where 100 plus
18:14quantum startups
18:15around the world
18:16applied
18:16and 10 winners
18:18were selected
18:19and they were
18:19brought into
18:20Bahran
18:21the city
18:21where Saudi Aramco
18:23operates
18:24mostly
18:24at least
18:25headquartered
18:26and they have been
18:27introduced to the
18:28ecosystem
18:29they have been
18:30introduced to the
18:30opportunities
18:31with the idea
18:32of bringing
18:33all of this
18:34to the local
18:35basically economy
18:37and the local
18:38markets
18:40we also
18:42are heavily
18:43partnering with
18:44AI companies
18:45who have an
18:46edge
18:46so Qualcomm
18:47we have publicly
18:48announced partnerships
18:49with them
18:49for edge AI
18:51and so on
18:51but we don't only
18:52do it for a
18:53specific project
18:54we really wanted
18:55to enrich
18:56the start-ups
18:56ecosystem
18:57so again
18:58we ran
18:59a program
19:00that looked
19:01for the top
19:01start-ups
19:02that could benefit
19:03from edge AI
19:04technologies
19:0530 plus
19:06start-ups
19:06signed up
19:07for the program
19:08after vetting
19:09them
19:096 were the
19:10winners
19:11and now
19:11they are getting
19:12incubated
19:13coached
19:14and incubated
19:15in Aramco
19:15coached
19:16and trained
19:17by Qualcomm
19:17and have a
19:19client 0
19:19that they are
19:21ready to deploy
19:22with
19:22which is
19:23the different
19:23business sectors
19:24in Aramco
19:26we also
19:27won
19:28for
19:29our great
19:30company
19:30the 4th
19:31and 5th
19:31Global Lighthouse
19:32Networks
19:33award
19:33for
19:34basically
19:35digital transforming
19:36digitally transforming
19:38our operating
19:39facilities
19:40so the
19:40World Economic
19:41Forum
19:41has a platform
19:42called the
19:43Global Lighthouse
19:43Network
19:44under the
19:44Center of
19:45Advanced
19:45Manufacturing
19:46basically
19:47it's a
19:48platform
19:48as we speak
19:50today
19:50I think
19:50it's
19:51180
19:514 sites
19:53around the
19:53world
19:53that represent
19:54a lighthouse
19:55for adopting
19:57digital transformation
19:58I'm proud to
19:59say that
19:59our 5th
20:00Global Lighthouse
20:01which is
20:02North Gawar
20:03Complex
20:03is one of
20:04our older
20:05oil
20:06complexes
20:07so I think
20:08it's 40 to 50
20:09years old
20:09but through the
20:10digital transformation
20:11that we deployed
20:12and scaled up
20:13in that site
20:14it became
20:15one of the
20:16180 global
20:17lighthouses
20:18for scaling up
20:20digital transformation
20:22we launched
20:23so many courses
20:24through the
20:25sale academy
20:26component
20:26and the
20:27sale academy
20:28component
20:29is really
20:29not a physical
20:31academy
20:31we really
20:32custom make
20:33curriculums
20:34that we feel
20:35will help
20:35our innovators
20:36whether in
20:37entrepreneurship
20:38whether in
20:38deep tech
20:39whether in
20:40learning
20:41commercialization
20:42or whatever
20:42is needed
20:43we bring
20:44the partner
20:45who has the
20:46capability
20:46to develop
20:47that curriculum
20:47and we go
20:48to any
20:49local
20:51basically
20:51institute
20:52have them
20:53offer the
20:53course
20:54and we
20:55in sale
20:55orchestrate
20:56all that
20:57relationship
20:57we bring
20:58the people
20:59who will be
20:59attending
21:00these courses
21:00and we
21:01integrate them
21:02to our
21:02innovation
21:02ecosystem
21:06okay
21:06that was
21:08a misclick
21:09for those
21:10who play
21:11chess
21:11okay
21:12but what
21:13really stands
21:14out to me
21:15as a manager
21:17of sale
21:17is not the
21:19amount of
21:19products that
21:20we launch
21:20not the
21:21amount of
21:21consortiums
21:22we build
21:22not the
21:23amount of
21:23I guess
21:24IPs we
21:25generate
21:26but really
21:27the appetite
21:28for collaboration
21:29so as I
21:30said
21:30we launched
21:32basically
21:32with the
21:33new vision
21:34late 2023
21:35and from
21:36there
21:36until now
21:37we probably
21:38had 400
21:39plus visits
21:40so we are
21:41talking about
21:42one or two
21:42visits per
21:43week
21:43these could
21:44range from
21:45an SME
21:46an innovator
21:47a consultant
21:48who is looking
21:49for areas to
21:50collaborate
21:50all the way
21:51up to
21:52ministers
21:54ex-ministers
21:55CEOs of
21:56major companies
21:57and so on
21:58here are some
21:59examples of
22:00the recent visits
22:00that we had
22:01in the center
22:02and all
22:03of this
22:03appetite
22:03for innovation
22:04was really
22:06the core
22:06of what we
22:07are trying
22:07to do
22:08we want
22:08to build
22:09a hub
22:09not only
22:11for us
22:11to innovate
22:12but to
22:12bring everyone
22:13who can
22:14innovate
22:14to help
22:15us
22:15and we
22:16have the
22:16capacity
22:17to be
22:17a client
22:18zero
22:18for all
22:19this
22:20innovation
22:20now here
22:22we are
22:22in France
22:23I know
22:23a lot
22:23of the
22:24people
22:24here
22:24had
22:24visited
22:25sail
22:25but
22:26I have
22:26something
22:27special
22:27for you
22:27which is
22:28a virtual
22:28visit
22:29to sail
22:29through
22:30a quick
22:30video
22:41I know
22:43I know
22:43I know
22:45I know
22:46I know
22:46I know
22:46I know
22:46I know
22:46I know
22:47I know
22:47I know
22:48I know
22:49I know
22:50I know
22:53I know
22:56I know
22:57I know
22:58Générique
23:31All right, so I promise that you will leave with something that's of use.
23:35If you are a startup, if you are an investor, if you are an innovator, if you are an R
23:40&D house,
23:40if you are an academy, please get in touch with us and we will have a place for you to
23:45collaborate
23:45because we really believe that innovation should not be done in silo
23:50and it's something that we should do together.
23:53Thank you very much.
23:56Thank you very much, Mohamed.
23:58Any questions for our speaker about the presentation?
24:05You have a question?
24:06I have a question then.
24:08Please.
24:08Listening to your presentation, so I see that you're working on three primary technologies.
24:15You mentioned AI, you talked about quantum, you talked about blockchain.
24:19You shared with us some examples.
24:21So you showed us this AI assistant, this device to protect your data.
24:28Exactly.
24:29Is there anything else you want to share with us quickly in a couple of minutes, maybe around the blockchain
24:33angle?
24:35Definitely.
24:35So just to make sure that we are on the same page, this list of technologies is not an exhaustive
24:42list.
24:42So it continuously updates with our long-term strategy. Saudi Aramco has a long-term strategy of what technologies we
24:51should be focusing on.
24:52For example, right now there is a big focus on edge AI, not only AI, there is a big focus
24:58on agentic AI, on robotics.
25:00But to answer your question in terms of blockchain, we have implemented many innovations within the company, such as what
25:07we call the material passport.
25:10So the material passport tracks every piece of material since it comes to the company until it gets deployed into
25:17our spare parts or our operational sites.
25:21All with the idea of having a clear record of how that material moved.
25:26We have a paperless certification trust center.
25:31So as I mentioned, we run different sectors.
25:35One of the sectors we run is inspection.
25:37So we heavily rely on people or labor trained on specific things.
25:43Unfortunately, and I'm sure this is the case all over the world, some of those certifications, let's say a crane
25:49operator could be forged or could be expired.
25:53So we have a platform to run these through the institutes that issue the certificates.
25:59So we are sure that the person who is running that crane or whatever is actually certified and his certificate
26:07is valid and not forged.
26:09So we are focusing a lot on implementing things like that for safety, for material, for credibility, digital trust, we
26:17call it.
26:18Okay, yeah, excellent.
26:19Okay, well, ladies and gentlemen, please, we have a question.
26:22Do we have a mic?
26:24Please.
26:26Just a minute and then we'll...
26:29Sorry, I don't have much of a voice at the moment.
26:31How many countries would you say you're collaborating with at the moment?
26:36Okay, good question.
26:38So we used to have like a dashboard full of pins until it got really full.
26:43So we started not...
26:45We had a global map with pins.
26:47We stopped putting pins.
26:48But you know, you've done a good job once you stop putting pins.
26:51But basically, I would say we had collaborated with more than a hundred startups from all over the world,
26:57all the way from the east, all the way to the west, with a big focus actually on three regions.
27:03I would say the far east, the European west, and the west of the Americas basically.
27:12Okay, listen, we're going to wrap it up there, ladies and gentlemen.
27:15Ah, we have one more.
27:16All right.
27:16Thank you.
27:17Thank you.
27:18Thank you very much.
27:19I have a question.
27:21I think Aramco is part of the consortium VACT.
27:26Is it correct?
27:28Sorry, consortium what?
27:29VACT.
27:30VACT.
27:30It's a blockchain based from the Norwegian starting.
27:36I think it's Shell who are starting the consortium.
27:41Okay.
27:42And Aramco joined it two, maybe three years ago.
27:47Okay.
27:48Is it a Norwegian startup?
27:51VACT, yes.
27:52VACT, yes.
27:52Okay, so I'm personally not familiar with this.
27:55so I cannot really make a statement on that.
27:57But I haven't heard that we are part of a global blockchain consortium.
28:02But definitely approach us if you have any connections with them, and we will consider.
28:07Because as I mentioned, we're all up to global innovation platforms.
28:12All right.
28:13We're going to leave it there.
28:14I'm sorry.
28:14I've actually got to run as well.
28:16So ladies and gentlemen, Aramco, Mohamed from Aramco.
28:21You'll be back with us, I think, tomorrow or Friday.
28:25I guess.
28:25Thank you so much.
28:26See you then.
