In a small village, there was a vegetable seller named Rahim. He sold fresh tomatoes every day in the market. People liked his tomatoes because they were red and fresh.
One day, a poor farmer came to Rahim’s shop. The farmer was wearing old clothes and simple shoes. He wanted to buy one kilo of tomatoes.
Rahim looked at him and thought, “He looks poor. He cannot pay much money.”
So Rahim gave him small and slightly rotten tomatoes but charged the full price.
The poor farmer quietly paid the money and left.
After some time, a rich man came to the same shop. He was wearing clean and expensive clothes. Rahim smiled at him and said, “Welcome, sir! Please take the best tomatoes.”
Rahim carefully selected big, red, and fresh tomatoes for the rich man and even gave him a discount.
A young boy was watching everything. The boy asked Rahim, “Uncle, why did you give bad tomatoes to the poor farmer and good ones to the rich man?”
Rahim laughed and said, “Business is business. Poor people don’t matter.”
The next day, something surprising happened.
The poor farmer returned to the market, but this time he was not alone. He came with a group of villagers. It turned out that the farmer was actually a respected landowner in another village. He had come in simple clothes to test the honesty of shopkeepers.
The villagers stopped buying from Rahim’s shop.
Soon, Rahim’s business became very bad. No one trusted him anymore.
Rahim realized his mistake. He understood that judging people by their clothes was wrong. He went to the farmer and said sorry.
The farmer forgave him and said, “Never discriminate against anyone. Rich or poor, everyone deserves respect.”
From that day, Rahim treated all customers equally.
Moral of the Story:
👉 Never judge people by their appearance.
👉 Discrimination always leads to loss and regret.
👉 Treat everyone with respect.
