00:07There are numerous narrations in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim that our Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
00:13Sihir was done against him. Aisha narrates that Sihir was done on the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
00:20and he began to imagine that he had done something when he hadn't done it. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
00:29means he was intimate, but he had not been intimate. So, Shayateen especially love to play with this area of
00:38sexuality.
00:39That's why dreams of a sexual nature, whether a man or a woman sees them, what we call wet dreams,
00:46whether ejaculation occurs or not,
00:48but all dreams of a sexual nature, all of them emanate from Shaytan. And that is why the Prophets, none
00:54of them can have these types of dreams.
00:56So, dreams of that nature, they come from Shaytan. Shaytan plays with our minds, men and women. Now, of course,
01:03it's not sinful. We are not held accountable for what we dream and what happens in our sleep. So, in
01:08this case,
01:09our Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam didn't have a dream, but he thought that he had done something natural and allowed
01:15between a husband and wife. And Aisha would tell him, no. And so, this was the maximum effect of the
01:22Sihir.
01:22Sihir. It did not affect the wahi. It did not affect his religion. All that it could affect. And it
01:30was the most powerful
01:31Sahir alive at the time. His name is Labeed ibn al-A'sam. The max he could do was to
01:37make the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
01:38assume he had done something halal. And he hadn't done that halal thing, right? Now, had that Sihir been done
01:44against another human,
01:45it might have killed him. But our Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, the effect was so minimal,
01:48that he assumed he had done something that was halal. So, even the effects of Sihir were not haram.
01:56The imagination that he had was halal. So, Aisha says that he made dua to Allah and he made dua
02:02and he
02:03made dua to Allah. Then he said to me, he's speaking to Aisha, that I feel that Allah has inspired
02:10me how
02:10to cure myself. Because I saw a dream that two angels came, two people or two angels came, and one
02:16of them sat at my head
02:17and the other sat at my feet. And the two began having a conversation. So, the first said, what is
02:23the problem of this
02:24man? The second responded, he has been mashoor. Sihir has been done on him. The first said, who has done
02:31the Sihir?
02:32The second said, Labeed ibn al-A'sam. So, the first one said, how did he do it? What material
02:38did he use?
02:38The other one replied, he used a comb and the hair that had been gathered on the comb and the
02:45outer skin
02:46of the pollen of the male date palm. And so, he put some type of Sihir inside this shell.
02:53The first one said, where is the Sihir? And the second one said, it is in the well of Dharwan.
02:58So, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam went to the place of Dharwan and he returned and he said
03:04to Aisha, the date palms of this well, they look like the heads of devils. And the water of the
03:12well
03:12is dark bloody. And Aisha said, that did you take out that magic with which the Sihir was done?
03:20And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam responded in one narration, no, for Allah has cured me of that.
03:27And I am afraid that if I take it out, it might cause more harm if the people see it
03:32and what not.
03:32And so, the well was ordered to be destroyed and covered up.
03:36We learn many things from this narration. First and foremost that,
03:41Iman and Taqwa in and of itself does not necessarily 100% protect you from Sihir.
03:47Rather, it can minimize the effects of Sihir.
03:51We also learn from this narration that most magic occurs by using some type of body parts of the
04:00one upon whom the magic is done.
04:03So, the most common things used are hair and nails and also clothing items.
04:10We also learn that one of the main ways to combat Sihir is through du'a to Allah.
04:17Because Aisha says, he kept on making du'a, he kept on making du'a.
04:21According to another hadith, the angels recited Surah Falaq and Surah An-Nas.
04:27And according to another narration, Surah Falaq and Surah An-Nas were revealed because of this occasion.
04:32So, we learn therefore that Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas are of the most powerful cures for Sihir.
04:42And both Falaq and Nas basically directly or indirectly talk about Sihir.
04:46ูˆูŽู…ูู†ู’ ุดูŽุฑูู‘ ุงู„ู†ูŽู‘ููŽุงุซูŽุงุชู ูููŠ ุงู„ู’ุนูู‚ูŽุฏู
04:48I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of those women who are blowing on knots.
04:54One of the types of Sihir is to take some hair, to take some item and tie some knots
05:00and then do your incantations, similar to voodoo dolls in our times, right?
05:04You throw a pin in and you do this.
05:05So, all of this is types of Sihir.
05:07I seek refuge in you from the evil of those that are doing Sihir.
05:11And,

05:18General seeking refuge in Allah from the Jinn.
05:22And the Jinn are the cause of Sihir.
05:24So, we are talking about Sihir that is in our vernacular called black magic or the dark arts.
05:31You cannot have Sihir without the Jinn.
05:34Every Sihir has to have Jinn involved.
05:37Because in the end of the day, how does something happen?
05:41The magician has no power.
05:43The magician pretends that he has power.
05:46In reality, the power of the magician is nothing other than the physical, natural services of the Jinn.
05:55And we understand that the Jinn have for some reason agreed to help the magician.
06:02Magic is nothing other than what the Jinn are naturally capable of doing.
06:08There's no supernatural, there's no mystical, there's no semi-divine.
06:13The Jinn are not all-powerful.
06:16Rather, Allah has given them strengths that He has not given us.
06:20And He has given us strengths that He has not given them.
06:23The Jinn is basically not saying,
06:25Kun fayakun.
06:26Only Allah has that power.
06:29The Jinn does not have what we would call genuine supernatural power.
06:34Whatever the Jinn is doing,
06:36the Jinn has the power to do physically.
06:39Because the Jinn can enter the body.
06:41And the Jinn has access to the blood.
06:43As we know the Prophet ๏ทบ said, the Jinn runs in the blood, right?
06:45He has the hiddenness.
06:48He can transfer knowledge.
06:49He can do this and that.
06:50And the Jinn has other powers we might not know about.
06:53But it's physical for the Jinn and not supernatural.
06:55So, all sihr is basically Jinn's doing their tricks.
07:00How do we combat magic?
07:03Remember, that you are reaching out to another world.
07:07And that is the world of the Jinn.
07:09And you do not have the physical strength to combat the Jinn.
07:13You only have one power.
07:16And that is,
07:17Allah has the power over the Jinn.
07:22So, the only way to combat sihr is to reach out to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
07:29And Allah can nullify the sihr like He did to our Prophet ๏ทบ.
07:36And the power of the Qur'an is the most effective in eliminating the Jinn.
07:41The Jinn's literally burn when they hear the Qur'an.
07:47And especially the surahs that the Prophet ๏ทบ told us are extra special.
07:52Fatiha, Ayatul Kursi, the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah,
07:57the entire Surah Al-Baqarah are processed and linked to combating sihr.
08:02Falaq and Nas.
08:03Right?
08:04All of these are especially powerful in combating sihr.
08:09Never, ever, ever fight magic with magic.
08:13Because it will only get you more magic.
08:16More sihr.
08:17Some of the things are okay to do inshaAllah wa ta'ala, not a problem.
08:20So, to write the Qur'an, and it has to be Qur'an,
08:22and put it in water to drink, not a problem inshaAllah wa ta'ala.
08:26To blow the Qur'an onto something and give it to you.
08:29Again, if it's the Qur'an, not a problem as well.
08:33Even to write Qur'an as long as it is Qur'an and put it on the body.
08:37But you have to read it, make sure it is entirely Qur'an.
08:40All of it has to be Qur'anic or adhkar.
08:43Then we say it's permissible.
08:44But if there's weird stuff that you don't understand,
08:47you don't understand languages, you don't understand scripts and symbols,
08:50you don't understand numbers, boxes, grids,
08:53all of this is communicating with the shayateen,
08:55and it's not a part of our religion of Islam.
08:58May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us of those who are protected from sihr,
09:03whom the shayateen do not harm.
09:05We ask Allah's protection, we seek Allah's protection
09:07from the evil of those who blow onto knots,
09:10and from the evil of the jinn and the shayateen.
09:12the shayateen.
09:13The shayateen.
