02:03So as soon as it is done, we will have two extensions of the middle corridor going through Azerbaijan.
02:10And this will be to the benefit of the west, the east, and of course the country
02:17which are situated in the southern Caucasus.
02:22I hope we will sign peace agreement this year.
02:25I already spoke about that on numerous occasions,
02:27saying that the very fact that peace agreement was initialed in the White House,
02:36in the presence of the President of the United States,
02:39plus a joint declaration which was signed by Prime Minister of Armenia and myself,
02:44was also signed by President Trump as a witness.
02:49All that is enough to say that peace already is achieved.
02:53And since August up to now, we not only enjoy absolutely new situation on our border
03:01when there are no shootings, no victims, no wounded, no problems,
03:06but also we started physical cooperation with Armenia.
03:11We lifted all the restrictions on the transportation of cargo through Azerbaijan
03:18and we are grateful to our Georgian friends that they provide very important transit
03:25after the goods reach Azerbaijan to Armenia through Georgia.
03:29We also started supply of oil products for Armenia, which is a critical product for them,
03:38and thus actually started a mutual trade.
03:41So from point of view of a formal peace deal to be signed,
03:47everything depends on when Armenia's constitution is amended
03:51in order to deduct the territorial claim to Azerbaijan, which is existing there for three decades.
04:01And the next day after it is done, the peace agreement formally will be signed.
04:07But in the meantime, Trump's route for international peace and prosperity
04:12also will play instrumental role in creating the new connectivity links.
04:18As I already said, transportation route from China, Central Asia, Trans-Caspian, Azerbaijan, Armenia,
04:28Azerbaijan's, Exclave, Nakhchivan, Turkey, and further down to Europe
04:32will create absolutely new situation.
04:35It will be beneficial to all the countries.
04:38All the countries on route will be more politically and economically integrated.
04:43And this will be another contribution to long-lasting and eternal peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
04:53Because peace can be achieved when you really have a peaceful process.
05:00Signing the document is important.
05:03It's a foundation.
05:05But no less important is then what you do after.
05:08The time from the last bloody clash between Azerbaijan and Armenia to the Washington summit was less than two years.
05:17I think this is a record number in all the conflicts, especially the conflicts which lasted for three decades.
05:26So both sides demonstrated strong political will to put an end to this confrontation and to open the chapter of
05:35peace.
05:36And we live in peace only for six months.
05:39And believe me, it's a very special feeling.
05:42It's a very good feeling, which is shared by all the population of Azerbaijan, and I'm sure of Armenia.
05:49And the connectivity projects and corridors, they will unite us even more, make us interdependent,
05:58create absolutely new situation in the southern Caucasus, where Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia will at last start interaction on trilateral
06:09grounds.
06:10Signing of the peace agreement this year would definitely be very good news, something we need in these turbulent times.
06:16But Commissioner, I wanted to ask you...
06:19The very fact that TRIP bears the name of President Trump means that this corridor will be important for this
06:28administration,
06:30and maybe beyond the term of this administration.
06:33Otherwise, the President wouldn't have given his name.
06:37Giving the name means that it will be done, and after the name was approved, we are absolutely confident that
06:44the United States will be part of it.
06:46And according to information we have, now the United States and Armenia are discussing the parameters of the functioning of
06:56the company,
06:56which will be entitled to physical construction and investments.
07:03It's already from open sources we know that 76% of the company will belong to the United States, 24
07:11% to Armenia.
07:12For the first 49 years.
07:17And then there will be another 49 years.
07:20In other words, this format will be functional for one century.
07:28Second, as you correctly mentioned, there have been different approaches from American administration to connectivity projects in our region.
07:38And only when President Trump came to power, we started to see big interest.
07:44In other words, all what has been done by countries of the region, Azerbaijan, Georgia, by our neighbors across the
07:55Caspian in Central Asia,
07:57was done without any practical American involvement.
08:00So we did it, together with Turkey, ourselves.
08:04We can name the oil pipeline through Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, gas pipeline, which stretches down to Europe, Bakud-Bilisi cars,
08:16railroad, all was done without any American practical involvement.
08:21So we did it ourselves.
08:23Today, when we have such a big asset, as President Trump's administration concentrated on that,
08:29of course, the potential of implementation of these large-scale projects is much more large-scale.
08:38One thing I also want to underline, we talked about the countries of the region.
08:44We should not forget our neighbors across the Caspian in Central Asia.
08:50Because without them, it will not be possible to ship any cargo from China to Europe.
08:57So it's China, Central Asia, Caspian, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Europe.
09:03This is the geography.
09:06And Azerbaijan now already is very active in interaction with Central Asian countries.
09:13Last November, Azerbaijan was officially incorporated into C5.
09:19Central Asian 5 became C6.
09:22This is unprecedented development because we are a country of the Southern Caucasus,
09:29but we are the members of Central Asian Consultative Council.
09:34And a lot we do on connectivity.
09:37And a lot is being done between Central Asian countries and China on connectivity.
09:43Along with the existing roads, which Madame Helga underlined,
09:48there is also the road which is being built and financed by China, another road to the Caspian.
09:57Apart from the existing from China, Kazakhstan, Caspian, China is financing now China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan Caspian.
10:07And again, it comes to the Caspian.
10:09That means it will come to Azerbaijan and further down through the Southern Caucasus to Europe.
10:14So a lot of geopolitics, a lot of international relations, a lot of diplomacy.
10:19And Azerbaijan is a country which managed to initiate and lead these transnational projects,
10:27like oil pipeline from Baku to Mediterranean, gas pipeline from Baku to Italy,
10:34going along the route of many countries with all of them having good relations.
10:40So it will be another very strong political guarantee for cooperation on the very large geography of Eurasia.
