00:00Okay, we've got a really exciting video for you here today.
00:03We are in the Philippines.
00:04It is roasting hot.
00:05Yeah.
00:05We're at St. Helena Golf Club, and I'm here with the Brian Bros.
00:21So, which way do you want to start?
00:22Do you want to start with the big dogs and work down, or do you want to start with the
00:24wedges and the putters and work up?
00:26Let's start with the wedges.
00:27Yeah.
00:27They're probably the most exciting clubs in our bag, because...
00:30BB803 Tacoma Wedges, our collaboration with Tacoma to co-produce a wedge, with Wesley
00:37and I's input, their expertise, and built something really amazing, honestly.
00:42It's helped.
00:43I was like, these wedges, they're not the traditional tireless cleave or whatever, can they do tour
00:50level wedges?
00:51And they have.
00:52My wedge game actually has gotten better, especially around the greens.
00:55And we've got some custom grinding on there as well.
00:57Yeah.
00:57And then full face grooves, because I live on the toe.
01:01Yeah.
01:02So it's been cool, because they look good, they perform well, and they're at a price point
01:06where it's very affordable.
01:08Yeah.
01:08I mean, it's the most affordable wedge on the market.
01:11And so we were excited to make something that was very accessible to everybody, no matter
01:17if they're going to go buy a new wedge, there's no reason for them to go elsewhere because of
01:22price point.
01:23And so we got the name, BB's obviously for Brian Bros.
01:26803 is the area code where we're from in South Carolina.
01:29So that's pretty special.
01:31Yeah.
01:31It must be pretty cool to see your name, or initials, at least, on a wedge that you guys
01:35have helped input, right?
01:36Yeah.
01:37It was probably a two-year process of them saying, hey, how does this look, how does this
01:41look, and giving feedback back and forth.
01:44Because then you think, oh, you're sure they're going to listen to our input, but are they
01:48really?
01:48Because at the end of the day, it's their decision.
01:49And so it was cool that they took our feedback, and we actually worked together on producing
01:53something that we're proud of.
01:55So yeah, it was a pretty surreal moment when we set up to them, had them in our hands,
01:58and we're like, wow, it actually happened.
02:00So yeah, I showed you guys at Tacomo for making this dream come true.
02:03And in terms of your setups, I can see you both got 58.
02:06Do you both go 54-50 after that, or?
02:09Yep.
02:10Wait, I thought you were 55 and 52.
02:13Well, I was.
02:14Oh, you're taking the 50 now?
02:15Well, I was 58-56.
02:1850.
02:19Oh, then what do you know?
02:20I had no idea you were 59.
02:21And then I went to, honestly, I just ended up with a 54.
02:24Don't really know how or why, but that was the first one that was sent to me.
02:27Some trial and error?
02:28No, no, I just, that's the one that came to me.
02:30They had all of them, and this is the one I started messing around with, and so just adjusted
02:34my yardages a little bit.
02:35That's cool.
02:35Yeah, I like it.
02:36And now we're in a 54.
02:37Awesome.
02:38And what shafts are you guys playing in those at the moment?
02:41Currently...
02:41Some Nippon Modus.
02:43But when you see these next...
02:45Well, I don't know, the Wedge is going to be the same.
02:46Oh, George.
02:47I'm just saying, I'm going to be tinkering.
02:48You're going to tinker, you're going to have them in the bag for, he's trying out these
02:51new graphite shafts that Jason Day is playing.
02:53Yeah, Jason Day was like, not sponsored by him, he was like, graphite shafts of the future,
02:57and I said, say less, I like the way you hit it.
02:58The KBS TGIs?
03:00Is that what you're looking at?
03:01Yeah.
03:02See?
03:03Okay.
03:03I've been there.
03:04I've tested some Avodas, so...
03:06Yeah.
03:06I'm excited.
03:07No, but so, I got the Nippons.
03:09I got a standard S400.
03:11S400.
03:11Had those.
03:12Yep.
03:12Have those in my wedges since I was a kid, basically, so...
03:16Familiar.
03:16Yep.
03:17Awesome.
03:17And then, sticking with Tacomo throughout the irons here.
03:20Yep.
03:21What it looks to be.
03:21Talk us a bit about these, and why you love these so much.
03:23Uh, 301s, uh, throw out the bag for me.
03:27No, they're just a classic, like, they're not too blady, they're not too, like, game improvement,
03:31neither, like, a perfect blend of, like...
03:32It's like a muscle cavity, right?
03:33Yeah, I need a lot of help, honestly.
03:35I've gotten...
03:36I've hit it worse and worse the older I've gotten.
03:38Um, and so, but still, I like looking at blades for, like, you know, a smaller profile,
03:44and these are a good blend of, like, not too big, not too small, um, and they produce
03:48pretty well.
03:49Like, you know, Wesley, when he switched, when he was on the PGA Tour, he was, like,
03:53top five in, like, strokes gained, or just proximity to the hole with irons.
03:58And so that shows you, like, hey, just because they're a direct-to-consumer, like, you can
04:02still, they can still perform at a tour level.
04:04Absolutely.
04:05Um, you know, you guys wouldn't have them in play this week if you didn't believe that,
04:08right?
04:09And, and honestly, I've, I've played all irons, and I've said for years that irons don't
04:14matter.
04:14Um, and, and I still will say that the brand of iron doesn't matter.
04:18I feel like they're all the same.
04:19Um, and again, Tacoma, they've been an unbelievable brand to work with, and they've produced an
04:24iron that is just as competitive as a Titleist, or TaylorMade, or Cobra, or whatever, Srixon
04:31iron.
04:31Um, and I've played all of those irons throughout my career, and I, I didn't notice any difference
04:38as soon as I switched to the Tacoma.
04:39And again, for like half, half of the price or a third of the price from some of those
04:43that are on the market, uh, it made it a no brainer for us to go and say, Hey, do
04:47you want
04:47to play what we're playing?
04:48Um, if you're in the market for new irons, this makes the most sense possible.
04:53Awesome.
04:53Yeah.
04:54And so it gets, it gets interesting for me.
04:56That's the first thing I've noticed here.
04:58And so, um, I've got, so I guess I'll start with a Tacoma one.
05:02This is a four iron that's bent to a five iron.
05:05It's wildly oversized.
05:06It's the 101U and it's got the loft of a five iron, but this is the club that I feel
05:13more comfortable flighting it down.
05:14Makes absolutely no sense.
05:15Don't ask me how or why that ended up.
05:17And it's got a completely different shaft in it.
05:19Don't even know what this is.
05:21It's a, it's some mid X 100 something or another that I think is lighter than the rest
05:25of them, but this was built up in a Napa a few years ago.
05:30And, uh, probably my favorite club is the Jack of all trades.
05:33I can hit it high, low, left or right.
05:35It goes anywhere from one 90 to two 30, um, depending on how I want to hit it.
05:39And then this four iron has been in the bag for years and years and years and years.
05:43And I haven't found one that goes as high and as far as this one can go.
05:47Just hits your window.
05:48You know what, you know what you're getting.
05:50If I need it to go two 30 and straight up in the air, I pretty much can do that.
05:53And so these clubs, they go like really close to the same difference distance.
05:58But, uh, the five iron is, is the one that I shot shape and work more.
06:02The four iron is just the standard.
06:03If I got two 25 to two 35 and got to hit it high and hit it soft.
06:07And so this club is going to be hard to get out of the bag because it's like I said,
06:11it's a unicorn.
06:12And you said you had, you know, a different shaft completely in that kind of utility makeshift five iron.
06:17What shafts are you playing in the rest of your irons at the moment?
06:19Uh, the, the regular.
06:21Yeah.
06:22Tori shoe X100.
06:23X100.
06:23I don't know what this mid, so you can tell me you're the, whatever.
06:28We're going to forget about that.
06:28You can tell me what's the difference in that and what the regular X100.
06:31You're a, you're a techie guru.
06:34It would just be from a kick point standpoint.
06:36Oh yeah.
06:36Kick point.
06:37Yeah.
06:37Yeah.
06:38I know all about kick points.
06:39So, so is that why it goes lower?
06:41So what would make it go lower based on the kick point?
06:44So it's slightly stiffer tip section.
06:46Okay.
06:47So interestingly, I'm not sure why this actually goes lower because in all honesty,
06:51you've got a lot of weight in the bottom here.
06:53The CG is lower and therefore it should pop higher.
06:57Oh no.
06:57It makes perfect sense.
06:58So yeah, it makes sense that it goes lower, right?
07:00It makes sense.
07:01So anybody that's built a club for me.
07:03So once we get to the driver, you'll understand any, anytime I get a golf lesson,
07:06if I do what an instructor tells me to do, I hit it terrible.
07:09If I do the complete opposite, I'll hit it good.
07:11Same thing with equipment in my golf bag.
07:13If someone says cause and effect, do this.
07:16It'll produce X.
07:17It'll produce the opposite, the complete opposite of X for me.
07:20So at least you know what you're asking for then.
07:22So you could go in and just go, I need, you know, the highest launching product out there.
07:27And you know, yeah, it's perfect for links.
07:30Yeah, exactly.
07:31Exactly.
07:31And how about you, George?
07:33What shafts have you got in those?
07:35Um, no, I got thinness.
07:37Kind of moving on from Nippon as well.
07:39Yeah.
07:39I've had all those, the, the, the modus, uh, don't know why apparently they were good,
07:43but then club fair said, I don't know how those work for you.
07:45So I'm like, huh?
07:47I don't know.
07:47Do they work?
07:48And so now he's in the market for a shaft.
07:50He's never hit before.
07:52And he's super excited about it.
07:53No, but they do.
07:53I go more on fields and they do feel good.
07:55And like the waiting.
07:56And when I do hit it, well, um, it does what I want it to do.
08:00Yeah.
08:01Um, but I couldn't tell you why.
08:03Just go off the numbers, go off the bull flight.
08:05Yeah.
08:06I think more people should do that to be honest.
08:08I mean, I'm just really old school and like, and I honestly don't, my brain doesn't work in data.
08:12Like I need someone to tell me why.
08:14And I just hit it and kind of like, kind of figure it out.
08:17And to be fair, most people watching this, they can really like and appreciate the technology.
08:22But at the end of the day, there's no substitute for the hours that you actually need to spend hitting
08:26it.
08:27And so it's, it's more of just like telling your buddies what you got in it and gaining knowledge.
08:32But applying that knowledge is, again, for guys at our level, it's still obsolete at times.
08:38You're a level.
08:39I'm like, no, don't put yourself down, Jordan.
08:41No, we're both Asian tour players this week.
08:43Yeah.
08:43Same event.
08:44Yeah.
08:45So then I can see you've got a hybrid in the bag here.
08:48Yeah, we've got three hybrids.
08:49Cool.
08:50We've got the Cobra DS adapt bit of lead tape on there as well.
08:53I don't know if it's the right spot, but I needed it.
08:55It was a little too light.
08:56So I just put a little to make it, but no, it's like a two 50, two 40 club.
09:00Okay.
09:01And definitely just a one, one, one trick pony.
09:06Like it really just does what it does, what it needs to do.
09:09It's the same every time.
09:10Yeah.
09:10It's like a full two.
09:11It has a mind of its own.
09:12Yeah.
09:13Nice.
09:14This one right here.
09:15TSR three.
09:15Nice.
09:16This is a 19 to degree.
09:19And this club has had some really, really good days and good shots.
09:23And it's also got some really bad ones.
09:25Okay.
09:26I would say as of late, it has a real tendency to go left.
09:31Probably my doing, but I like it.
09:34It just, it's, it's a higher launch, lower spin.
09:36Okay.
09:37Um, which you would think that would be good off T's.
09:40But when I hit it off T's, I miss fairways.
09:42And when I hit it into greens, I usually hit good shots.
09:44So, uh,
09:45That's what it needs to do.
09:46It's yeah.
09:47It's probably a mental block that I have whenever I plop it down onto a tee box.
09:50So it's interesting because we've talked a lot about hybrids dying out on tour and stuff
09:54recently at work.
09:56And to see both of you guys with hybrids in the bag, have you experimented much with driving
10:00irons or lofted fairway woods or that's a, that's a sore subject.
10:03We're also the older guys in the field.
10:05Now we, we, we've, we're kind of the old school of the bunch.
10:09It's a bunch of young guys out here now that hit two iron straight up in the air.
10:12And then they've all gone to seven woods for some reason.
10:14Yeah.
10:15And I can't quite figure that one out.
10:17Yeah.
10:17I mean, I hit shot in Bermuda last year.
10:20I was in it.
10:21I was, I was searching.
10:22I didn't know.
10:22I needed like a hybrid or I love the driving iron.
10:24I'd hit this top into a, into a hospitality tent.
10:29Yeah.
10:29Literally into a coffee stand.
10:32And from that moment I said never again.
10:34That was enough scarring.
10:35Oh yeah.
10:36No more driving irons for George.
10:37No, I like that.
10:38He needs to get the ball airborne.
10:39Yeah.
10:40Back to the basics.
10:41Three wood, no reason to talk about it.
10:43This is the worst club in my bag.
10:44Don't even know why it's in there.
10:46We'll literally never hit it unless I absolutely have to.
10:49Okay.
10:49Um, it has the ability to go all sorts of directions and trajectories, but one out of
10:57two or one out of three.
10:58No reason to talk about it.
11:00No, one out of two or one out of three is unbelievable.
11:02But this thing, this thing, there's a reason it looks brand new.
11:05Okay.
11:05It's been in the bag.
11:06It's been in the bag for a year.
11:07You just said you were going to not talk about it.
11:09You just talked a minute about it.
11:10Let's go to the driver.
11:11Wait, talk about your three wood.
11:12You've got the tops and skies with it.
11:14We're leaving it under there.
11:15I'm staying in the cover.
11:17No, it's fine.
11:18Which one do you even have?
11:19Is it a Callaway?
11:19Yeah, it's the Rogue.
11:21I got the Elite, by the way.
11:22Old one.
11:23And I thought you might actually move on to Driver because you've played the Rogue for
11:28probably three years.
11:29And it was great.
11:30Johnny, Wonder, fit me into a great, hit a lot of fairways.
11:33Just had a little too much spin of late.
11:34And the older I've gotten, I've wanted to hit it further for whatever reason.
11:37Yeah.
11:38And so I messed around with the blue board and put it in the Rogue and it knocked a little
11:44spin off.
11:44I was like, man, I want to search.
11:46And so I just tried a bunch of drivers out and this tireless, it took my driver from
11:51the GT3.
11:53Yeah.
11:53Spin numbers.
11:54Let's talk about spin numbers, George.
11:55I mean, the Callaway was 28 to 3,100 consistently.
11:59Like on a good one was 28.
12:01And now this one is like, the high end spin is 25, 26 and down to like 23.
12:05So I mean, I've picked up a little bit of ball speed, but I mean, probably 10 to 15 yards
12:10just on, you know, getting that spin.
12:12And have you noticed like the launch is still kind of the same or is it a touch lower?
12:16Again, this one does fade a little more than the other one, but again, my left miss
12:21really-
12:21It's a more powerful fade with this tireless one than the Callaway one was a little weak.
12:27Did you have an eight degree in the Rogue as well or?
12:30I think I did.
12:30It was nine, it was nine turned down to a-
12:33Okay.
12:34Or nine and a half to an eight and a half.
12:35Kind of playing the same-
12:35I mean, yeah.
12:36So it's been fun.
12:37But I'm actually like low key Tacoma just released a new driver that we've been messing
12:42around with and like, probably this off season.
12:44I mean, off season, like I'm a tournament player anymore, but this, this winter like-
12:47Do some experimenting?
12:48But no, this one's been, I mean, it's taken a lot of spin off and like, I think elevated
12:52my driving.
12:54You done talking about it yet?
12:55No, I love my driver.
12:56Loves it.
12:56Loves it.
12:57This right here.
12:58Um, again, this is one of those, uh, for years and years I searched for a driver cause
13:02I was the worst driver on the PGA tour for about five, six straight years.
13:07Okay.
13:07And again, I would, I hit it short, really, really crooked.
13:11Um, and then every, everyone kept telling me go either shorter driver, heavier shaft,
13:18um, lower launch, like the, all the things to try and get you to hit it straight.
13:22Right.
13:23And I ended up going with the lightest stiffest shaft on the market and started to try and hit
13:29it as high as possible.
13:30Okay.
13:30Nice.
13:31Uh, because I had the full blown driver yips.
13:33Uh, because I had the full blown driver yips and I was like, I can't, I can't play golf.
13:36And like, if I keep playing golf like this, I'm going to quit.
13:38Like there's just, it wasn't fun.
13:40It gets you committing though.
13:41Right.
13:41If you, if you have to.
13:43Yes.
13:43I said, I said, I want the lightest shaft possible.
13:46Just so at least I can feel like I'm in control of it.
13:49Cause I feel like I was losing the club head, um, and just not really feeling anything.
13:53And I'd make what felt like decent swings and look up and it would be in all sorts of windows.
13:58And so I said, give me the lightest stiffest possible.
14:00And let's just try it.
14:01Uh, Jason from our Mitsubishi guy, he goes, there's no way this is going to work.
14:05And same thing with the guys at Calway.
14:07There's like, no way it's going to work.
14:08I said, perfect.
14:09That means it's going to work.
14:11Yeah, exactly.
14:11That means it's going to work.
14:12So then anyway, started launching it at 16, 17 degrees.
14:15And, um, he's a cheat code right now.
14:17And then picked up a lot of, uh, I probably picked up 20, 30 yards, uh, pretty much overnight.
14:22Um, so you've got a 50 TX in there for the guys watching.
14:26It's very light, obviously very stiff as well.
14:29The GT, Diamana GT.
14:31I would say just recently did a 65 gram shaft become popular on tour because mostly it was at
14:3770 grams, like 70 to 72 grams was very standard on tour for, and this one is I think at
14:4351
14:43grams.
14:44So, um, yeah, it's considerably lighter.
14:47And, uh, you've got the triple diamond max.
14:49So you've got that kind of low spin head, but you still got the profile of kind of the
14:53standard head as well.
14:54So, yeah, so we just, uh, the paradigm, uh, a couple models ago, I guess is the one that
15:00got me out of the driver yet phase.
15:02And then they built up, uh, basically a replica of that head, uh, with the AI smoke.
15:07And so this is where we're at now.
15:09But again, the Tacoma driver is, is coming with vengeance.
15:13Yeah.
15:13It'll be fun to mess around with it.
15:14Yeah.
15:14I'm looking forward to seeing your guys testing.
15:16I'm going to have to try and get my hands on one as well, just to do my own testing.
15:19So the putter.
15:20Let's go to putters.
15:21DF3, uh, little Brian bros, uh, lab collab.
15:24Lab collab.
15:25Head cover.
15:26Yeah.
15:27Yeah.
15:28See, it was fun.
15:29You know, this is, uh, looks cool.
15:31Um, so yeah, but anyway, we've got the DF3.
15:33Nice.
15:34We've got the TPT shaft.
15:35Yep.
15:36Forward press grip.
15:37Yep.
15:38Same, same.
15:39Uh, literally the only thing different about ours is his is one degree or two degrees
15:43flatter.
15:44And then, uh, I got the line that goes all the way across.
15:47Awesome.
15:49How did, how did you guys kind of end up in, in the labs?
15:53Were you just intrigued by everyone else using them?
15:57Yeah.
15:57No, just like, again, we're, you know, we're, we're willing to try a lot of things like,
16:02Hey, what?
16:02Like we've heard a lot about it.
16:03Let's try it.
16:04We were like, let's like, if the, if the hype is real, like if I don't, it improves my putter.
16:08I'm like, you know, um, and I think again, the level, the level out here of like, you
16:13know, this pro golfers, is it going to help them that much?
16:16Maybe not.
16:16But what I found is like, I don't have to practice as much.
16:18And I, and I still start my ball in line more often, which again, for me, I don't know.
16:24I like that.
16:24That was big.
16:25And so I feel like it has improved that.
16:28But again, I was always a decent putter.
16:30Um, so was it going to help a whole lot?
16:33Probably not.
16:33But would it, again, I don't practice as much as I used to, and I'm still able to like, for
16:37the most part, day in, day out, hit my start lines.
16:39I mean, yeah, and it's cool.
16:40And like, yeah.
16:41It just feels good off the blade.
16:42Like it's the, it's the most solid, consistent feeling.
16:46Yeah.
16:46Even when you miss hit it.
16:47Did you guys experiment with the other lab models?
16:50Or were you kind of just straight into the-
16:51Oh, touched them all.
16:52Touched them all.
16:53But again, I'll be honest.
16:55It took me a while to get used to it.
16:56And that's what like, Sam was like, stop trying to like, conform to the putter.
17:00Like, let it conform to you.
17:02Yeah.
17:02No.
17:02You just, you got that backwards.
17:04Yeah.
17:05You conformed to the putter.
17:06Yeah.
17:07But no, it was cool.
17:08Because again, it wasn't an overnight thing.
17:10You know, I was a blade, like, yeah.
17:13And, but again, once I did, I'm like, I can see why, like the sauce in it, because
17:17I just realized, did you do this whole thing with a glove on?
17:20Yeah.
17:21Dedication.
17:22Yeah.
17:22No, it's just what I do.
17:24Well, thank you so much.
17:25No, thank you.
17:26George, thank you for joining us today.
17:28Wes, thank you.
17:29Good luck this week, guys.
17:30You forgot the biggest part.
17:31Look, we got the shoobies on our bag.
17:33I mean, I spoke about these off camera, how much I love them.
17:35I don't even know what they are.
17:36Some guy just said, hey, you want to wear-
17:37Everyone, everyone on tour is going to have these soon.
17:39I mean, no, no, no.
17:41Everybody on tour, they have those big, gaudy golf bags.
17:44And so, stand bags.
17:46That's ridiculous.
17:47Got our logos on them.
17:48Yeah, they're very cool.
17:50I'm secretly jealous, so.
17:52They look cool.
17:52They look gorgeous.
17:53Yeah.
17:54Awesome.
17:55Cool.
17:56Thank you very much, guys.
17:57Thank you, thank you.
17:58We'll see you next time.
17:59See ya.
17:59See ya.
