00:00All right, we've got an update on a story that broke last December.
00:04New England Patriots star wide receiver Stefan Diggs was in a Massachusetts courtroom today
00:09facing serious allegations stemming from an incident late last year.
00:14Diggs stood before a judge in Dedham District Court just five days after losing the Super Bowl
00:19to answer to charges involving an alleged assault on his personal chef.
00:24The 32-year-old receiver entered a formal plea of not guilty to one count of felony strangulation
00:31or suffocation in a misdemeanor count of assault and battery.
00:35Now, these charges date back to an incident on December 2nd, 2025.
00:40According to police reports, a woman employed as Diggs' personal live-in chef told investigators
00:46that a dispute over unpaid wages turned violent.
00:50She alleges that Diggs entered her bedroom, smacked her across the face, and then used
00:55the crook of his elbow to choke her until she struggled to breathe.
00:59Now, his attorney has called these allegations unsubstantiated and uncorroborated, and the
01:06defense also argues that the timing of the report, which was filed two weeks after the
01:10alleged incident, is a direct result of a financial dispute between an employer and an employee.
01:17Now, Diggs' legal team also said that the claims are motivated by money rather than fact, but
01:23that's up to a judge and a jury to decide.
01:25Now, I think it's also worth noting that the arraignment was actually postponed from January
01:30so that Diggs could participate in the Patriots' postseason run.
01:34Now, New England ended their season with a Super Bowl 60 loss to Seattle just five days ago.
01:39Diggs was released on his own recognizance today, but was ordered to have no contact with the accuser.
01:46He's scheduled to be back in court for a pre-trial hearing on April 1st.
