00:08interesting so I've just got this very random text from Neil asking me to go and play the
00:13most dramatic hole in the UK that sounds like a fascinating challenge one I'm definitely
00:17excited to take on big question is where do I go there are a few that really spring to mind
00:22but there's one that's definitely I think standing out head and shoulders above the rest so I think
00:29it's time to pack the suitcase and get to the airport right so in case you hadn't guessed it
00:47I am at Trump Turnberry and I think this golf course or one of the golf courses here has one
00:52of the most
00:53spectacular holes in the entire UK I'm really excited to play it going to be doing that tomorrow but
00:58it's worth just touching on Trump Turnberry as a result as you can see here I do think this
01:02resort has a lot of wow factor got the spectacular hotel behind me which really takes your breath
01:06away when you see it for the first time that slope going up to it you've got the helipad there
01:10to
01:11take someone very important somewhere they need to go and just underneath that just over the road
01:15here we've got this beautiful miniature pitch and putt course which it looks an awful lot of fun to
01:20play and there is an awful lot of things to do at this kind of resort besides the actual golf
01:25courses
01:25there's shooting activities there's whiskey tasting you can do all sorts of fun stuff off the golf course
01:31but of course it is the golf that draws people in and there's three courses here at Trump Turnberry
01:36you've got the Aaron which is a short a really fun nine hole golf course really test your short game
01:41but there are some long holes on it as well then there's the King Robert the Bruce which is
01:45definitely a championship golf course looks quite tight a lot of course lining those holes so it could
01:50be quite tricky off the tee I'm going to be playing that later on today but of course it's the
01:54Ailsa course
01:55the championship course that everyone wants to play when they come to Trump Turnberry and I think
01:59one of those holes is the most dramatic in the UK
02:17morning today is the day I play the most dramatic hole in the UK in my opinion sun is out
02:24well it
02:25will be it's very early at the moment this should be a really exciting day I just hope I can
02:32do it
02:32justice what makes a hole dramatic what's the criteria that I'm going for here well I think
02:38it needs to be visually arresting I think it really needs to metaphorically make you take a
02:43step back and really stir the senses whether it's obviously what you see but also maybe the sound of
02:49the waves crashing against the coast a bit of wind I think it needs to be challenging as well I
02:54think
02:54it really needs to test all your skills and that makes it more satisfying if you play it well but
02:59also lets you off the hook if you play it badly so yeah kind of a win-win situation but
03:05I think I found
03:06the perfect candidate here at Trump Turnberry obviously there's a lot of different candidates
03:11I could have picked yes the ninth hole at Royal County down you've got the 18th hole at Trump Aberdeen
03:17maybe the 16th hole at Royal Port Rush that calamity corner par three is is an epic hole but I
03:23think
03:24the one that ticks the most boxes for me is this one at Turnberry on the ninth hole and I'm
03:29really
03:29excited to show it to you so two holes in two bogeys it's always the case when you play these
03:52amazing
03:53courses the occasion often gets the better of you very nervy stuff but I've just hit it quite close
03:59in two on this par four third hole so potential birdie upcoming
04:19well just absolutely smoked one down the eighth fairway who alas made quite a few bogeys and lost
04:25a golf ball after that lovely birdie I made on the third but the anticipation is really rising now
04:32walking up the eighth fairway the lighthouse sweeps into view and the landscape becomes a bit more
04:39dramatic hopefully they'll let me hit a shot off the championship tee on this ninth hole but if not it
04:46will still be a very spectacular hole nonetheless but let's see if we can make a par even a birdie
04:54on the
04:54eighth and then even better on the ninth
05:30wow a bit out of breath had to dash and hit that shot off that very back tee not technically
05:35open
05:36but direct with golf let me have a quick hit it all right just slightly down the left I think
05:42it went
05:42in the bunker if it made the carry it was touch and go but yeah that is a brute into
05:48this wind 240
05:52spectacular view though let me show you what a hole unbelievable
06:10all right spoiler alert my tee shot with the driver off the championship tee did not make the carry
06:16never to be seen again and with my proper ball off the members teams were playing off today
06:23managed to three puck from the front of the green for a four so not covering myself in glory but
06:28I did
06:28birdie the eighth hole before that and it doesn't really matter it's hard not to enjoy your golf when
06:34you come into a hole like this and we've obviously been blessed with the weather like this is unbelievable
06:40there's not hardly a cloud in the sky obviously it's very windy but the sun is out and after all
06:45that drama I think it's about time we go and visit one of the most spectacular halfway huts in the
06:52world
06:52of golf the lighthouse
07:09got my beef pie
07:14all over you for it
07:16okay so that concludes my playing on the dramatic old big golf in the uk the night of the morning
07:21of the house and obviously the turnbree turnbree unfortunately didn't quite make a par didn't
07:26quite make the carry with the driver but it was a lot of fun hopefully coming up with me but
07:32that's all
07:32for me turnbree sweet
07:45you
