00:00Introducing Opalite, the revolutionary fix for your problems.
00:06Just one spray and Opalite magically transforms your problems.
00:11Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:13And today, we're counting down our picks for the most fascinating hidden details in Tay-Tay's iconic Opalite music video.
00:25Number 10, the star-studded cast.
00:33Given Taylor's history of high-profile collaborations, we knew she'd bring out the big guns for Opalite.
00:39However, we were not expecting her to cast icons Cillian Murphy, Donal Gleeson, Greta Lee, Lewis Capaldi, and Jodie Turner
00:47-Smith together.
00:48Oh my lord, never made no one like you before.
00:56This was the exact lineup of guests who joined Taylor on an episode of The Graham Norton Show in October
01:012025.
01:03Back then, Gleeson had mentioned wanting to be in a Taylor Swift music video.
01:07I'm hoping to get in the Taylor Swift music video.
01:12Inspiration struck our resident genius, and soon after, he was cast in Opalite.
01:17Director Taylor Swift took things further and brought the rest of the guests, as well as Graham Norton, on board,
01:23likening the music video to a school group project.
01:25There's also a nod to their talk show episode in the credits.
01:29It's a first-time welcome to the great Cillian Murphy!
01:35It's the biggest pop star on the planet.
01:37Please welcome Taylor Swift!
01:41Number 9. An Eras Tour Reunion
01:44It's alright, you are dancing through the lightning strikes.
01:49The 14-time Grammy winner recorded her album The Life of a Showgirl in the middle of her legendary Eras
01:55Tour.
01:56Any Swifty would know that she shares a deeply wholesome relationship with the dancers who accompanied her on the tour.
02:01Fans even got a glimpse of the same on the docuseries Taylor Swift, The End of an Era.
02:06It was only right then that her dazzling music video for Opalite featured some of her dancers again.
02:17Cameron Saunders, a fan favorite, pops up as a dance competition judge.
02:21And Karen Chuong appears in the opening ad for the Opalite spray.
02:24Using our state-of-the-art chemical potion, it works on friendships, couples, pets, and co-workers.
02:32We also spotted Jan Ravnik as Karen's character's dream man, Raphael Thomas as a bartender,
02:38and Sam McWilliams and Wiley Yoshimura playing lovers, among others.
02:47Number 8. A Family Affair
02:57Taylor Swift cast her Eras Tour dancers and her Graham Norton co-stars in Opalite,
03:02but she didn't forget to make space for her family members.
03:05This includes her brother Austin Swift, who shares the screen with Donald Gleeson in a Christmas party scene.
03:10And what a simple thought, you're starving till you're not.
03:14Austin gets a shout-out in the lyrics, too, where Taylor recalls him describing her longing for her exes as,
03:20well, dumpster diving.
03:22However, he isn't the only family member who gets a cameo.
03:25Eagle-eyed fans zoomed in on Taylor's yellow sweater in the mall scene to notice that the cat on it
03:30seems to resemble Swift's very own feline companion, Olivia Benson.
03:35Freedom, and I can bring you home.
03:40Even if it's not Olivia, it's still a nod to the singer's love for cats.
03:45And I've got my most well-behaved cat for it.
03:48Number 7. The Opalite Spray
03:50Just one spray and Opalite magically transforms your problems into your paradise.
03:57Taylor's script for her music video centers on a genius product that transforms the doom and gloom of toxic relationships
04:03into fulfilling connections.
04:05We're introduced to it in the form of a classic 90s-style advertisement, narrated by Cillian Murphy, who, let's be
04:12honest, sells it way too well.
04:14What if I told you you could magically turn all that crappiness into happiness?
04:20The product's slogan is Don't Sweat It, which is a direct reference to the lyrics of Opalite.
04:25Don't you sweat it, baby. It's alright. You were dancing through the lightning strikes.
04:31However, the more interesting Easter egg is the color of the spray bottle.
04:35It comes in orange and green, which is the color scheme of the album The Life of a Showgirl.
04:40Tay Tay also sneaks in a reference to Antihero through the Opalite spray as she uses it on herself,
04:46implying that she considers herself the so-called problem.
04:49It's me. I'm the problem. It's me.
04:53Number 6. The Mall.
04:56This is just a storm inside a teacup.
05:02One of the most adorable sequences in the music video is when our OTP, Lonely Man and Lonely Woman, played
05:08by Gleeson and Swift, go on a date to the mall.
05:10The set is a goldmine of lyrical references.
05:19There are stores everywhere with signs that use lyrics from songs like The Life of a Showgirl, Father Figure and
05:25Cancelled.
05:26Can't you see my infamy loves company?
05:29For instance, one neon sign in front of a boutique has her lyrics softer than a kitten,
05:34while another is called Infamy Loves Company.
05:37We always knew Tay was a poet, but it seems like she might have a knack for naming businesses too.
05:43This is just a temporary speedball.
05:48Number 5. The Trash.
05:51Here, pal. Why so glum? Have you been feeling unsatisfied in life?
05:57The garbage can from the Opalite spray commercial is a fantastic and satisfying metaphor for the terrible exes in people's
06:04lives.
06:04However, it's also a reference to a few other things.
06:07The most obvious connection is in the song itself, as Taylor quotes her brother comparing dwelling on exes to eating
06:13out of the trash.
06:14Keep my side on the street clean. You wouldn't know what I mean.
06:23She also mentions at the end of the music video that garbage, which is what the trashy acts in the
06:28ad is called,
06:29remains a hot mess while others thrive.
06:31Fans are theorizing that the motif of trash could be a callback to an interview Taylor gave to Time Magazine
06:37in 2023,
06:38likening her quote-unquote enemies to trash that takes itself out.
06:42Perhaps garbage doesn't change because haters gonna hate.
06:51Number 4. Elizabeth Taylor and George Michael.
07:00Swift peppered references to her discography throughout the Opalite music video.
07:05Two songs in particular are more in focus than others.
07:08Her ballad, Elizabeth Taylor, inspired by the late legend of the same name, is evoked twice.
07:14That view of Portofino was on my mind when you called me at the Plaza Atene.
07:21The first nod is a painting of Portofino, Italy, a place mentioned in the song,
07:25and the second is through a movie poster that reads view of Portofino.
07:28The poster of George Michael in our heroine's room, as she's struggling with a string,
07:33possibly a reference to Invisible String, is a wink to her song, Father Figure.
07:38Taylor interpolates the English singer's chart-topping hit of the same name in her song.
07:47Michael is referenced again through the CD sleeve of his album Faith, spotted on our protagonist's bed.
07:53I thought my house was haunted.
07:56I used to live with ghosts.
07:59Number 3. The Rock.
08:07Taylor could have picked any inanimate object to represent an incompatible partner in Opalite,
08:13so why did she go for a rock?
08:15As any Swifty will tell you, the Queen doesn't do anything without a reason.
08:19First of all, Pet Rocks were all the rage in the 70s, so it fits right into the retro aesthetic
08:24of the music video.
08:26Secondly, by using the rock as an exercise weight and saving a seat for it at a bar table,
08:31T-Swift alludes to her songs So Long London and Lover.
08:40She also puts glitter and a friendship bracelet on it, bringing her heiress tour to mind.
08:44Although the bracelet eventually turns not so friendly in a reference to Mad Woman.
08:49Nevertheless, Taylor gives the rock a happy ending.
08:55Number 2. Lucky Numbers.
09:05Blondie knows a thing or two about numerical symbolism.
09:08And also, just, I love numerology, I love math stuff, I love dates, I love certain, I just, that stuff,
09:13like, I find really fun.
09:15And, you know, we, I want Easter eggs to be a certain thing where, like, if you are a part
09:20of the fandom
09:21and you want to experience, like, music in a normal way, then you don't even see these.
09:27She's known for her love of the number 13, which is not only her birthday, but also a number she
09:32associates with good luck.
09:33Every time I see 13, it's a good thing, so I figure, why not, kind of, have it with me
09:38all the time, for good luck.
09:40So, of course, it would show up in Opalite.
09:42The digits appear when Gleason is playing pool in a scene, and you can see the number 13 ball on
09:47the table.
09:48Number 13 balls typically have an orange stripe, which perfectly fits the visual theme of the life of a showgirl.
09:54Another neat detail is in the time shown on Lonely Man's alarm clock.
09:5812-12 was when Swift's 12th album was announced on August 12th.
10:02It can also be interpreted as an angel number signifying spiritual awakenings and new beginnings.
10:08Do you know what I mean? Like, if you know, you know, you know, then you know.

10:29Number 1, Taylor's Version.
10:32Call 1-800.
10:40Nothing makes Swifties happier than an Easter egg about a future release.
10:44There seems to be one in the music video for Opalite, too.
10:47Fans notice that in Lonely Woman's living room, there's a green and black spine on a bookshelf with the letters
10:52TV on it.
10:53In the Taylor Swift musical universe, TV could stand for Taylor's version, which is what the artist calls the re
11:00-recorded editions of her previous albums.
11:02Fans believe Tay might be hinting at the release of either the re-recording of Taylor Swift or Reputation.
11:12After all, on the day her Reputation stadium tour kicked off in 2018, she posted a photo with a giant
11:18cactus.
11:19We're excited for whatever she has in store.
11:28Did you notice any more Easter eggs in the Opalite music video?
11:32Tell us in the comments.
