Police are urging Kirklees residents to review home security after a series of burglaries targeting gold jewellery and valuables in Dewsbury, Huddersfield, and Batley.

00:01Households are being urged to stay vigilant following a spate of burglaries targeting jewellery and gold across Kirklees communities.
00:09Kirklees District CID says offences have mainly affected houses in Dewsbury, with other break-ins reported in Huddersfield, Batley and
00:17rural areas.
00:18Since the start of January, around 18 burglaries have been recorded, mostly occurring between 5 and 7 in the evening.
00:26Police believe offenders have used a black Ford Focus and have targeted jewellery, particularly gold items.
00:33Detective Inspector Jenny Haig advises residents to secure doors, use lights or timers and avoid leaving valuables visible.
00:41Forensic work and CCTV trolls are continuing.
