00:00A Sunderland animal rescue charity has submitted plans to build a wildlife hospital at its North
00:07Hilton base. Pause for Thought says the new veterinary referral centre would prevent animals
00:12being taken elsewhere for treatment, reducing stress and improving survival chances. The facility
00:19would not be open to the public and is not expected to increase local traffic. It would
00:24include office space and an isolation room on the ground floor, with two treatment rooms above.
00:30The charity hopes the hospital will become a hub for wildlife veterinary training and will
00:35create partnerships with universities and practices. A planning decision on the hospital is expected
00:41later this year following consultation.
