We discuss the technicalities of driver conformity tests on the PGA Tour. Learn why high-speed players might be more prone to having their drivers become "hot" and how the luck of the draw in testing plays a huge role.

00:00Rory got stung for a hot driver. How are all these old drivers not failing the same conformity
00:07tests? Example, Adam Schenk, Matt Fitzpatrick, Aaron Rye. We spoke to the USGA people about the
00:13frequency of testing and it's not that frequent and it's not every event from to the best of my
00:18knowledge and it's certainly not every player at every event you're just randomly getting picked
00:23so there's there's potential that there'll be plenty of drivers out there over the legal limit
00:29there'll be loads of them I'm not just saying the names they've named there but they might just be
00:32getting away with it it's not cheating it's just like they haven't been pulled out the hat for the test
00:35haven't been pulled and that that's fine there's also schools of thought that for example Aaron Rye
00:42there that's not a high-speed player so he's not stressing the face so Rye might not be stressing
00:48the face and thinning it out as much as Rory imagine Rory pounding on drivers for hours and the face is
00:55going to be under some sort of stress and flexing his high speed yeah it's his high speed to the
00:59point where he cracked yeah he cracked his TSI three I think didn't he had that whole debate
01:04um where the the rules official was telling him it wasn't cracked oh that's in a bad way
01:10where it wasn't cracked yeah I mean I don't have a good answer to it it's just could be luck of the
01:15draw it could be they're not putting it under enough stress to make that happen we we haven't looked
01:21into all of this could be
01:22could be
