00:00I think we've had this attitude of mind over matter for a long time and I do think it's a bit
00:06old-fashioned. I think it would do us much better if it was mind with matter and by that we could
00:13harvest a lot of actually just energy and not necessarily doing things with like a big will
00:20but then having pain in your body but actually with body and mind really pushing you forward
00:25and this goes for let's say sleeping well not having just two to three hours and then hard work
00:32again but sleeping well and then being so recharged that you get to work and do a good thing the next
00:37day with that energy and then also things with our immune system when we're sick and for example we
00:43know that sleeping will give the body the possibility to produce many immune cells so you heal faster
00:49so I think we actually can get to places better and smoother and healthier and sometimes with just
00:55more joy by cooperating well. If you see the body like very separate structures then we sometimes
01:02miss out on how nicely they can help each other for example we now know that when you have pain
01:07or hormone imbalances this can come from too little REM sleep possibly so that's just one theory
01:13so too little REM sleep what does that mean that's usually the sleepiness in the second half of the
01:18night so when you have your alarm clock set always one or two hours before you would actually get up
01:23naturally then you rob yourself of the sleep and this can then cause other problems also for example
01:29diseases like asthma many people will have changed pattern of breathing they will suddenly because
01:35they're afraid that their air might go too weak they will breathe more rapidly and more deeply all the
01:42time and this can exhaust there if they knew a little bit more about their brain and the connection of
01:46fear and breathing they could sometimes reduce some of the unnecessary medication by using smart
01:52breathing techniques for example so really knowing a little bit more how the different organs work
01:58together which with each other can help you use this for your advantage breathing is a super nice
02:06platform because it's can connect to the unconscious and to the conscious and no other organ does it like this
02:13so you can't tell your kidneys make less urine when you're in a traffic jam or you can't tell your gut
02:18don't digest this now or digest more of this this just works with breathing so you can say stop when
02:25you want to dive or you can say okay let's try to breathe slower now so you can actually influence
02:30quite a few processes through breathing you can use it and you can for example calm down by prolonging
02:37breathing out you can make yourself more awake so there are so many processes where you can just
02:42have a little bit of a helping hand to your body by like interacting with your breathing and then
02:48when it comes to meditation people always say just listen to breath don't change it don't move it and
02:54this is also a very nice attitude because it means don't tell your body what to do always just sometimes
03:00also look how nicely it's already doing it on itself when you don't influence it when you don't have
03:05running thoughts how nicely it can then just do a very simple and such important function of breathing
03:11so usually there's this combination when it comes to stress where people will not be able to really
03:18calm down especially in the evening and when you think about it that makes a lot of sense because
03:25the nervous system and everything has been ramped up during the day to do this to take care of the
03:30kids to think of calling this to make these little shopping errands and stuff and then at 22 p.m. or such
03:36in the night it's just supposed to calm down like a Jamaican in a handmat it's like so relaxed no how
03:42should this even work this is not realistic so give your nervous system maybe breaks where you show it
03:48that all these stresses and all these things that are there to do are important and you you get to them
03:54but they're not more important than your inner life and your being so maybe let's have a break at 12
04:01and then another break at four just five minutes just something that's manageable for your day
04:06and really tell your nervous system all of this is good and important but I am too so I'll give you
04:12like a moment of calming down and then in the evening it will be way easier to calm down as well
