00:00Hi, I'm Adrian Chiarella. I'm the writer and director of Leviticus, a film that will be
00:10having its world premiere in the midnight section at the Sundance Film Festival. Leviticus is a
00:16horror movie about two teenage boys on the brink of first love and the violent ritual that their
00:22parents forced them into to try and erase their feelings for each other. But the ritual unleashes
00:28something far darker than any of them could have imagined. For a lot of us who grew up queer,
00:33I think our first flickers of desire can sometimes, unfortunately, come with a real sense of dread.
00:40And I made this film to figure out where that fear starts and why it hits us so hard when we're young.
00:46I was lucky to work with some amazing actors led by Joy Bird and Stacey Clausen and Mia Wysakowska,
00:52along with some incredibly talented and creative and wise people in front of the camera, behind
00:57the camera and across the whole process. We worked really hard to make this film feel true to our
01:02corner of the world here in Australia, but it's a story that I hope speaks to people everywhere.
01:08So thanks for listening and I hope to see you there!
