00:00In the meantime, the Philippine stock market has regained its momentum, a development that local business groups are calling a clear sign of returning investor confidence in the country.
00:09The Philippine Stock Exchange Index, or PSEI, climbed at 104.88 points, or 1.67 percent, closing at 6,401.96 on February 3.
00:21This marks the highest closing figure for the index since January 19 of this year.
00:26Federation of Philippine Industries Chairman Emeritus Jesus L. Aranza commended the president for the administration's effective governance and calming investor sentiment.
00:37Meanwhile, the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines noted that this positive development bodes well for the Philippines' upcoming ASEAN chairship, as it is expected to further attract trade and investments into the country.
00:49Economists added that positive global factors, along with the government's recently announced 1.4 trillion peso spending program for the first quarter of 2026, also contributed to the improved market sentiment.
