00:00This style controls how much amnesia they have, and the mainframe implants new ideas
00:06in their heads, turning these wastelanders into well-meaning good people.
00:11Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 differences
00:15between Season 2 of the Fallout TV series and the 2010 video game Fallout New Vegas.
00:21I know that you came to Vegas to kill me, did you not?
00:31Number 10.
00:32The Dino Delight Motel
00:42For the most part, the TV show managed to get the Dino Delight Motel right.
00:46You got a rundown motel sitting in the sands of the post-apocalyptic Mojave Desert, and
00:50of course, you've got the dinosaur statue at the centerpiece.
00:59Only thing that's off is the size of the location.
01:01The show depicts Dino Delight Motel as a small, menial location as many motels tend to be.
01:14In Fallout New Vegas, the lot is a bit more sizable than what we saw on the show, almost
01:18big enough that you may think it was a miniature amusement park.
01:22Number 9.
01:23Area 51
01:24The key to our new home.
01:28Early on in Season 2, we witnessed the Brotherhood of Steel uncover the infamous military base Area
01:3551, which had spent much of its time in the apocalypse buried in the sand.
01:39Inside, the Brotherhood finds all kinds of artifacts from before the war, ranging from classic cars
01:44to even frozen alien bodies.
01:57We'd love to tell you that you can visit Area 51 in Fallout New Vegas, but that is not
02:01the case.
02:02You can't perform your own raid like it's 2019.
02:05However, with the Wild Wasteland perk, you can possibly run into alien lifeforms as you
02:09travel across the Mojave Desert.
02:16Number 8.
02:17Sunset Sarsaparilla
02:19When the show is bringing us up to speed on what our cast has been up to, we find that
02:22Thaddeus has been housing kids and having them work at a Sunset Sarsaparilla factory.
02:26Looks like a cheery and whimsical place to be in.
02:36Well, judging from the outside anyways.
02:38In the game, Sunset Sarsaparilla tries to maintain its charm, but it's a little more disturbing
02:42than the factory we saw in the show.
02:44The Sunset Sarsaparilla HQ contains an animatronic cowboy named Festus who seems to be on the brink
02:49of a complete breakdown.
02:51It also houses several other robots that may or may not try to kill you.
02:55Yeah, the factory looks way more welcoming than the headquarters.
02:58You're not wrong.
03:01Number 7.
03:02Vaulties Everywhere
03:03So if we can just try and remain calm.
03:07We need to figure out a way to get out of here.
03:09This may seem like a somewhat general detail to point out, but does anyone else find it
03:13peculiar that there are so many Vault Dwellers running around in Season 2?
03:17We're not just talking about the ones living under Stephanie and Betty's rule.
03:20There's the entire group led by Norm throughout Season 2 as well.
03:25We find this peculiar because in Fallout New Vegas, and even the other Fallout games, you
03:32don't run into other Vault Dwellers too often.
03:35There are a couple here and there, but usually, the games keep the player character as the
03:39primary Vault Dweller.
03:40Any others are usually relegated to brief side quests.
03:43Yes, I believe that, Outlander.
03:46We owe you our freedom.
03:47Number 6.
03:48Explosive Collars
03:50As we see throughout Season 2, Hank returns to Vault Dweller HQ to continue work on a prototype
03:54the company had in the works before the bombs dropped.
03:57But I'm confident that if I just roll up my sleeves, I can bring it all home for you.
04:01This device is lodged into the back of the victim's neck and can brainwash all of their
04:05bad thoughts to turn them into more upstanding citizens.
04:08Please.
04:09After you.
04:10Oh, come on.
04:11I insist, you go.
04:12Oh, no, no, no.
04:13Please, after you.
04:14Coffee?
04:16This has never been a part of the games, let alone New Vegas.
04:19New Vegas instead had explosive collars that some characters were forced to wear by one entity
04:23or another.
04:24These collars came equipped with microphones, allowing the user to monitor their victims
04:27wherever they so desired.
04:29One misstep and, well, it's all over but the crying.
04:32No!
04:33Not like this!
04:34Number 5.
04:35Thaddeus' Mutations
04:36For those who don't remember, our former Squire took a serum in Season 1 that makes
04:40him immune to pain and radiation.
04:53But Season 2 shows this is clearly taking a toll on his body.
04:56Though he believes he's becoming a ghoul, this is far from the truth.
04:59Maybe you should hang back this time, Thaddeus.
05:01You sure?
05:02What he is experiencing is mutation, and in the games, mutations were not a mechanic until
05:07Fallout 76.
05:09In New Vegas, you simply suffered from radiation that caused special stats to slowly drop to
05:13zero or just kill you if you reached 1,000 radiation points.
05:17Could Thaddeus maybe have consumed the forced evolutionary virus and is becoming a centaur?
05:22If not him, then perhaps Norm?
05:32Number 4.
05:33Freeside
05:34Hardcore New Vegas fans probably found the show's depiction of Freeside a little bit
05:37odd.
05:38Look, I know it's not an ideal situation.
05:42You see, the New Vegas Strip is fairly huge.
05:44You can see the strip from almost any position in the Mojave Desert.
05:47However, once you get into Freeside, you'll find a huge chunk of the strip is depressingly
05:51derelict with a lot of borderline empty roads.
05:54In the show, Freeside is depicted with a smaller scale, almost like the simple set of a spaghetti
05:59western movie.
06:00Also, it seems to be quite heavily populated, which is something we cannot say the same for
06:04in the video game rendition.
06:05Hey, maybe they'll have something to take down one of those lizards.
06:08I wouldn't bet on them.
06:10Number 3.
06:11Fisto
06:12Another detail hardcore fans of the 2010 classic likely noticed was the cameo made by Fisto.
06:17Fully integrated security technotronic officer active and reporting for duty.
06:22In Fallout New Vegas, Fisto was a Protectron that dreamed of one day fulfilling more promiscuous
06:26acts.
06:27For those who had a thing for robots.
06:29However, you find him at Freeside inside Cerulean Robotics.
06:33For some reason in the show, he's out and about in the Mojave going on dates with the weird
06:37snake oil salesman.
06:42Perhaps Season 3 will show Fisto setting out to rescue him from Hank's brainwashing device.
06:47Nah.
06:48Number 2.
06:54Super Mutants
06:57The sixth episode of Season 2 was something truly special as we got our first glimpse of
07:01a super mutant.
07:02Be still.
07:03You'll slow the healing.
07:04These towering beings were missing from Season 1, save for an easter egg.
07:09And now, we may finally see what they've been up to all this time.
07:12It's been strange watching Season 2 without seeing them really wandering around.
07:16In the game, super mutants are a somewhat common enemy in certain regions.
07:20There's even an entire settlement they all live in called Jacobstown, which the show
07:25has yet to even mention.
07:26Humans are always staring at things we night can don't like being stared at is uncomfortable.
07:34Something tells us we won't be seeing any of these guys until sometime in Season 3.
07:39Then you can't know where we live.
07:41Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified
07:45about our latest videos.
07:47You have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.
07:51If you're on your phone, make sure to go into your settings and switch on notifications.
07:55For those of us who played Fallout New Vegas, seeing him living and breathing in the show
08:02was almost bizarre, yet mesmerizing.
08:05The whole paranoid mathematician slash gambler approach was very fitting for his character
08:09and kind of explains just how crazy he's willing to get to come out on top.
08:25But in the grand re-reveal, when the ghoul powers up House's computer with the cold fusion,
08:30we weren't expecting an animated, digitized version of the corrupt corporate leader.
08:34Well hello, old chub.
08:36The 2010 game simply displays his face as a static image in the same way the Securitrons
08:41do with their different personas.
08:43Maybe House was saving the better technology for himself.
08:46I prefer the term autocrats.
08:49Was there another major difference you spotted between the show and Fallout New Vegas?
08:53Let us know down in the comments.
