Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, son to late long-time Libyan dictator, Muammar Gaddafi, was killed on Tuesday in his home in the western town of Zintan in western Libya. Sources close to him say four masked gunmen stormed his home to carry out the “heinous crime”.

00:11His death was confirmed by his attorney and close allies,
00:14who said that four masked gunmen stormed his house in the western town of Zintan and assassinated him.
00:20Qaddafi's political team released a statement saying the assailants disabled CCTV systems in his home

00:31Saif al-Islam, born in the capital Tripoli in 1972, was the second-born son to Muammar Qaddafi.
00:38He studied for a PhD at the London School of Economics and was seen as the reformist faced his father's regime.
00:46He was captured in 2011 following the ouster of his father,
00:50who had been in power for 40 years during the Arab Spring Uprising.
00:54He was released in 2017 after one of Libya's rival governments granted him amnesty,
01:00residing in Zintan Sins, some 140 kilometers southwest of Tripoli.
01:06He was wanted by the International Criminal Court for charges of crimes against humanity relating to the 2011 uprising.
01:14He was separately sentenced to death in absentia in 2015 by a Libyan court
01:18for his role in inciting chaos and killing protesters.
